This book is a great romance read! It reminds me a little of my favorite Kathleen Eagle book, The Night Remembers. Be prepared to put your life on hold until this one is finished!

I am the photographer and designer of this book. Elizabeth did an outstanding job with her recipes. I would highly recommend this book if you are from the Central MN area and eat the occasional loaf of Johnnie bread and don't know what to do with the other half. I would also recommend if you are an alum of SJU or if you just like the campus. Every page has a photograph and a quote from someone related to SJU. It's not just a cookbook, it's a trip into the world of SJU.

In a strange exotic land, she was a prisoner of passion...

Beautiful and boldly defiant, Lady Victoria sailed away from England to escape an obligation of marriage. Then, the unthinkable happened. Her ship was captured by Barbary pirates-swashbuckling savages who abducted young women to sell into slavery. Now, Tory's shattered destiny lay in the hands of dangerous men...

Capt Sinan Reis, a dashing young pirate known as the Hawk, who would shun a vast profit...to claim the English beauty for himself.

The evil Ahmet, a Turkish rogue who lusted for vengeance...by defying the Hawk and stealing his precious lady.

The aging dey, chief of Algiers, who held the power to possess, or destroy, them all.

Tory's heart was imprisoned by fate. And yet, her secret passion for her pirate captor-the handsome and strong-willed Hawk-bound her soul with a chain of desire. Together, on an odyssey of exotic peril and forbidden pleasure, they would challenge an empire...and risk their lives for love!

from back cover of book.

I enjoyed this book, I haven't read a book like this in years.

Marc Kaplan presents a unique journey into the clouds, not via plane, but using the discipline of Yoga. Not only is Mr. Kaplan a great teacher of the ancient art, but with his creative approach he makes the journey easy to learn and enjoyable for the reader. This is a must read yoga excursion for ANYONE interested in the topic and for anyone wanting to make their lives less stressful and more in harmony with everyday reality.

Love, old-fashioned style

This was an excellent satisfying romance. Gavin is such a strong and honorable hero who falls for pretty Mirielle, almost the moment he sees her in her true form. Mirielle has the gift of magic and turns into a powerful ally for Gavin in his quest to discover the evil that lurks in his castle, and his cruel wife, whom he detests. through all kinds of obstacles, their love grows despite everything, and they remain quite devoted, even after Mirielle discovers that Gavin had initially deceived her as to his identity. Their reunion was heartfelt and you know even without reading the sequel to this book, called "The magician's Lover", that follows Gavin's son, Warrick, that Mirielle and Gavin will end up happily ever after. I highly recommend this book.

Look out for the kitty in a life preserver!!

Katie Macalister, who does nothing but write 24/7 so that I have lost track of HOW MANY books she has out this year, gives us BIRD OF PARADISE story in this trilogy. It is a gem of a comedy that says big is beautiful and a man and his cat should not be parted! Poking fun at the "reality" telly shows, this one groups a bunch of bachelors and bachelorettes and puts them in competition to find true love. The one that does wins a million dollars. But there is shady dealings doing on, as Adam is not really a contestant - neither is his cat named Jesus!! He is a private eye on the trail of his best friends ex-girlfriend. Girlfriend is fed up with Superjock friend and has joint the hunt for true love, so friend bribes another contestant to let Adam take his place so he can spy on the lady. Only, she spots him and knows what the game is. Into the mix is another not there for romance, Hero. She is there in a last ditch effort to save her job and get the inside scoop on the show for the rag magazine for which she works. Between Adam, Hero and Jesus the cat...love is a forgone conclusion. Katie once again give you a lovable, less than perfect heroine in Hero and anyone who loves kitties will adore Jesus the cat. The Story will have you HOWLING with laughter.

Jennifer Archer offer us BREAKING THE RULES, continuing the theme of men and women seeking romance - and a million dollars!!
Claire and her fiancé, James, are contestants. THey are there because of James' not so brilliant idea - thinking the tropical local would bring them closer. Enters Mitch and sudden that plan is out the window. James not only lose a shot at the girl but the big bucks!!

Sheridon Smythe's entry is HOT SHOT, and is another story of contests. This time Whitney and Rand as centre of focus. Whitney, again is not there for romance, but has come in search of the father she never knew. Daddy dearest is the host of the game show and she figures this is a good chance to see daddy up-close and judge him. Rand is there only because of his dead wife's fruitcake will. Since neither are there for romance, they figure they can give each other a cover and keep the other contestants from bothering them. What they did not count on was find love in paradise.

Who wins???? I won't tell...you have to read!!

The Finn in me

Stubborn, ignorant, unneighborly. That's what we Finns sometimes are here in the Old Continent. That's what they seem to be in Michigan, particularly in Upper Peninsula, particularly in Keweenaw Peninsula. Other folks live somewhere else. they are beyond Mackinac Bridge, i. e. downstaters or they are some odd relatives from Florida who have lost their ability to survive in real "Finnish" circumstances of cold weather, snow or rain. After having read many hilarious stories about us Finns here in Finland by Finnish authors it's been a fun to find out that a writer of Finnish descent could catch the same proudly humbleness (or is it humble pride?) where vices are almost virtues. But a reader wonders if anybody could get offended because nobody is serious. Except in "An Odd Collection of Finns" where more tragical elements of being an immigrant suddenly arise as a main theme. Even these extraordinary stories could not arouse the interest beyond the readers of Finnish origin I sincerely recommend them to the folks in both sides of Mackinac Bridge - or should I say in both sides of Atlantic Ocean?

Great fantasy

Lamh Shabhala is the master cloch (a magical stone) that gives its wearer tremendous power. Jenna MacEgan is the First Holder and the queen of the Irish Thuaildh hated and feared by the royals who resent the power she wields over them even though they possess clochs albeit weaker ones than Jenna. The aristocracy also detests her daughter Meriel the healer because she heals many commoners instead of her own kind.

Jenna's brother Doyle believes he should be First Holder and King; he enters into a conspiracy that successfully kills Jenna and Meriel and other family members except Sevei, Kayne and Ennis. Sevei wears Lamh Shabhala while her uncle is crowned king. The commoners revolt because they know he killed their beloved Meriel. While Civil War threatens the kingdom, the Arruk, sentient monsters with powers equal to the cloch wearers are ready to attack the humans. If the humans fail to band together under the command of Kayne who wields the power of a strong Cloch and has fought the Arruk, they will suffer death and an end to their empire. Sevei joins the battle but it is hard for her since Ennis fights on the side of the Arruk.

HEIR OF STONE is an action packed swords and sorcery novel and the best of the marvelous cloud mages series. The battles scenes are every bit as exciting and imaginable as those found in THE LORD OF THE RINGS. Kayne is the character that is most dynamic as he changes from a warrior to a great leader of armies. The political intrigues and plots are a different kind of warfare where everyone loses. S.L. Farrell has written a series that rivals the works of Terry Brooks.
