Good all-round workshop manual for the amateur mechanic.Review Date: 1997-12-23
Although a very useful manual, it has an inaccurate and misleading title. For example, it doesn't even mention the 1.4L Sentra engine, nor is it aware of right-hand drive models (used in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the UK). An extension to the title of "for the USA and Canada" would make things clearer. Perhaps there is no 1.4L option in North America. As you've probably guessed, I have a 1.4L right-hand drive Sentra.
This manual is a general-purpose book, and skips some of the more complex procedures. For example, it completely ignores the maintenance and repair of the automatic transmission. It also neglects the interior trim and upholstery. On the positive side, it gives a complete, do-it-yourself guide to panelbeating.
Overall a good workshop manual for back yard mechanics. International shoppers need to be aware, though, that it is intended for the North American market.

1) remove radiator.
2) install new radiator.
No kidding! I couldn't have figured that out myself! And most of the book is like that. I don't know how you can cover model years 1967-89 and say anything of value.

All in all, it's a very informative book, with a lot of general troubleshooting information. Also, it's going to help me remove my engine from my '70 Eldorado quite nicely. I'm going to keep it, if for nothing else, than as a guide for the Eldo engine and as a generic book on automotive mechanics. All the specs are there, and that's nice.

rainy day readingReview Date: 2006-12-15
before buying you can maybe use the money for an evening out instead. To reiterate what others have said on these reference texts, I'll just reiterate their comments: some possibly handy diagrams & torque specs; some areas are more involved & advanced for the average backyard joe to tackle...and their "steps" always seem to leave out important steps or the fact you might need specialized/high $ tools; the first half of the book I would say is generally wasted on material/info only a machine shop or experienced "car guy/gal" would generally handle; some of the info/pages are common sense for the simplest weekend warriors and only barely good for rainy day reading to waste time and show you how much you probably already know, already done, can figure out on your own, and how stupid you now feel for wasting [$...] Like one reader said: invest in a factory CD or service manual if you're gonna get be getting dirty or into the nitty gritty of things; not his exact words, but thats my rendition of it; but
overall, not necessarily a bad deal for a couple of bucks since it has some pretty pictures and explosions to help make some things seemingly 'idiot-proof'[as we used to say in the military]. Like I said, not bad for for the money & rainy day reading- but it aint gonna get you un-stranded if you get in over your head :) whether by by accident, or by a false sense of confidence derived from relying solely on this book. Me, I'd rather experiment on my own, even if i bust something as it leaves a more lasting impression than this book! Hope this helps someone.

Anti - ThomasReview Date: 2000-05-02
But, but, but, but....I find the stories twee, dated and humourless. So dour...so class-ridden... I know millions will disagree, and there are millions of happy kids and parents out there.
Thomas was a passing phenomenon in our household, and there's nothing wrong with a bit of stodge mixed in with more nutritious fare. I wouldn's say "don't go there", but try to retain some perspective and balance in children's lives!
Another good story about Thomas, but not long enough.Review Date: 2000-04-11
