I RECENTLY GOT AN 88 CUTLASS, AND I MISTAKENLY GOT A HAYNES BOOK INSTEAD OF CHILTONS. THE HAYNES WASN'T AS SIMPLEY PUT AND EFFICIENT AS CHILTON'S WAS. IT ISN'T BIG ENOUGH TO BE IN THE WAY, YET NOT SMALL ENOUGH TO GET LOST! I RECCOMEND THIS TO ALL BEGGINERS AT FIXING UP CARS!

This book is so helpful. I need all the help I can get fixing my own vehicle and the instructions in this book are step-by-step and easy to understand. The illustrations also are very helpful. I recommend that all vehicle owners that plan to repair their own vehicle get a chilton manual.

Great book for kids who love trucks and snow and Christmas. It has a cute little story about going to the christmas tree farm, etc.

My three year old son loves this book. It's great how it gets him involved in reading the story. He gets upset if I read the picture clues. He often asks me to point to certain words again so he can see what the word looks like. He is getting the concept of reading. This helps enforce the idea that we read from left to right, all those letters form words and all those words create the story.

Being an over 30 year member of the Circus Model Builders and known for the circus truck models I have built, this book has a lot of picture history. I remember seeing the truck that is on the cover when I was a child and it brings back memories. I have never seen any of the photos in this book before and many of the over land trucks I have seen in person. This book is a must for all people interested in the circus or the many types of trucks circuses used.

Finally after years of writing for some of the biggest car and model magazines in the country, Tim Boyd has ponied up with a book that, by itself, will become a treasured collector's item. This overview of model kit collecting offers advice, history, superb photos, value estimates, box art, and some wonderful built examples. Although the format limits the depth of coverage, this book is among the best on model car kit collecting. That it couldn't cover more categories is the only disappointment.

Well worth the price, and a must-have for your modeling library.

I like books with them big pictures (if they aint ladies, better be trucks ore gunzs!)

My three year old LOVES this book as well as "Trucks Around Town" -- he does not have the other two in the series yet. The age range listed here, 4-8, seems a bit high to me. My son got these at age 2 and I think most 2 year old boys would love them.

The book is written partly in pictures and partly in words. For example, a sentence may be "The [pic of excavator] uses it's claw to clear [pic of rocks] on the site." So the adult reads the words and keeps a finger running along the text and when a picture comes up, the child can read that word out loud. To me that seems a cool way to help children understand how the letters they learn combine to form words which fit together to form sentences on a page. It is not learning letters or phonics, more just how reading sentences work when you have learned your letters and phonics. I hope that makes sense!

Even if you do not have the child read along, the stories are not bad. Because of my son's crazy love of construction sites and these and similar books, I now know more names of equipment then anyone I know!
