I liked this book alot cause they taught me how the old car look like.Trust me and buy this book.

This is an excellent book for a child with interest in fire fighting and rescue vehicles. My son really enjoys knowing all of the different types of trucks and has gone to the local fire station and identified them for the firefighters! This book is also helpful in the classroom during sections on community workers.

My son Devon just loves this thin, seemingly almost indestructible little truck book. The illustrations are first rate. Every Wednesday when the trash truck (whoops that wasn't politically correct, I mean the sanitation truck) comes around, Devon is on the couch, peering out the window, waiting for his wave from the sanitation guy. Well, the first truck shown in this book is the sanitation truck. Devon points to it, then points to the front window, ditto with the street cleaner. He's into dump trucks too, and he really likes the cherry picker and the fire engines, but I suppose his favorite in this book is the cement mixer. Every time we get to that page he says "Round and around," as he runs a finger in a circle. If you've got a boy, this is a truck book for you.

This book provides the reader with factory paint codes and descriptions for American cars built from 1945-95. It is particularly valuable for car restorers/collectors who are in the process of repainting their car and need to know the correct color. A restored car is always worth more if it is painted in the original factory color.

This book was bought for my 8 year old son. We are a family of car lovers and he took to it right away. I was surprised to hear him talk about Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs and other American Muscle Cars like he has known about them for years. When I asked him how he knew about these cars he said he saw them in his coloring book.
I recommend this book for anyone that enjoys American Muscle Cars.

I purchased this fine book in the late 1980s and it continues to be head and shoulders over much of what is out there. It is quite possibly one of the the finest books ever produced on the subject.



First of all, the photographs of the antique cars are not only stunningly clear and sharp, but the artistry in which they are photographed -- including the clever vignettes and backgrounds used to shoot them -- are wonderfully inventive and a delight for any collector to see. They are simply unsurpassed. The photos are frequently shot in such a way that virtually every detail and nuance of the subject toy is clearly seen.



Secondly, the depth and breadth of the range of toy cars and trucks, be they tin, cast, or steel is extraordinary in it's scope. I believe that this book encompasses all of the important manufacturers and their designs, and some obscure ones as well, including a few lines maunfactured in Europe.



Third, the book's organization brings order to the potpourri of cars, trucks, metals and manufacturers which were produced over the decades. It's logical, thoughtful and easy to navigate.



Finally, the book imparts a wealth of knowledge. It elucidates little known, esoteric facts and provides a good primer into not only each type of toy, and each raw material from which it was made, but also informs us of the history of the manufacturer, when it was made, and often why.



In summary, this book could be considered a cornerstone of any antique car toy collector's library. As mentioned earlier, the photograhy in this book is so outstanding and arresting, that I keep mine standing up in the back of my book case, serving as wonderful backdrop and compliment to my classic Dick Tracy Patrol Car (Squad #1) that sits in front of it.



Find this book wherever it may be. It will be well worth the effort. You will endlessly enjoy this book.
