Gordon Morrison's A DROP OF WATER also tells of a big journey begun with a small event. A drop of water falls from a child's fingertip to eventually journey back to the sky, flowing down a mountain, collecting in a bog, seeping through a beaver's dam and more in the process. Large, lovely drawings illustrate the process. These are all lovely, unique acquisitions.

This book is a must for anyone who is considering naural resource management as a career, as I am. It deals with the basic ecological terms and poses some very difficult problems that forest management will occure in the recent future. If you are interested in conservation, and not preservation, this book will be a wise investment.

Ecological Restoration Of Southwestern Ponderosa Pine Forests brings together perspectives from all these fields with a special focus upon the task of renewing the pine forests of Southwestern Ponderosa. Wonderful book; wealth of ecological data & insight
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 1999-01-13
This is a terrific book with a lot of appeal not only to people interested in pines, but to a wide audience of ecologists, land managers, foresters and graduate students in ecology. There are 22 chapters by authors from 4 continents, with close to 3000 references. The book offers a wealth of insight into the effects of humans, fire, evolution and systematics of pines, reproduction and life histories, pines and invasive ecology and more. It may be too expensive for many readers, but get your library to buy a copy, at least. J. Gurevitch, Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolution, State Univ. of NY at Stony Brook.

Toches on Elm Yellows.

The history of DED, how the vectors move it and how this must have been a relitively recent phenomena.

the history of DED treatment and a brief comparison of Arbotech and Alamo.

Enduring Roots - an engaging exploration
Helpful Votes: 11 out of 11 total.

As one who feels trees and words have amazing power and mystique, I believe Gayle Samuels pays high tribute to them both in Enduring Roots: Encounters with Trees, History, and the American Landscape. With intense passion and deft pen, Samuels lyrically brings the reader along on her journey to explore trees - from their physical structure to their integral place in our personal, natural, and national histories. Her vibrant writing evokes the emotional, the logical, and the visceral. The pages are rich with self-discovery, hands-on exploration, extensive research, and hard science. Her descriptions are clear and solid; so much so that reading, for example, about the majesty of the aged bristlecone pines and ancient oaks raises goosebumps.

Enduring Roots is not too sappy, not too woody; it's Just Right for everyone!

this book has a good basic overall view of many plants for the indoors. My fave part was how the plants are divided according to the room conditions. For example "Easy Plants for Cool Room" Easy Plants for Warm Room" etc.

I use this book everytime I add a new plant to my house.
AWESOME!
