Marine Life Books

An excellent book with big, colorful pictures. Although it is recommended for ages 9-12, a 5 year old relative I read it to was intrigued and asked several educated questions while having the book read to him. The book is especially appropriate for kids (and adults!) who've seen the IMAX film it is based on. It offers some of the same photography along with a little more detail about Dr. Dudzinski's groundbreaking research. Highly recommend.

This book provides useful information on the design and implementation of experiments and studies of stream systems. It is valuable not only for young researchers, but also for seasoned researchers reaching into a new area of stream ecology.

I teach 8th and 9th grade science and my students love the books in this series because of the wonderful pictures. I like them because they show the different ocean environments. The fact that they are in separate books emphasizes that they are indeed different.

It was refreshing to read a science book that was not over my head. The descriptions and text were an easy read and very enjoyable. The authors did a great job of writing to the masses, instead of other biologists. I have read the book several times and now my daughter enjoys it at bedtime. The pictures are also captivating. I would recommend this book to anyone intersted in whales.

This is one of the best books I've read so far. The Books inspired by the classic tale Moby Dick, written by: Herman Melville. A very goos and interesting book.

Modern Marine Salvage is not just for salvage professionals: anyone who has followed the story of the wreck of the New Carissa in Oregon will find this book interesting and educational. Bill Milwee's knowledge and 30+ years of salvage experience are evident in every page.

Nature 1997, 389:30 "A must for teleost taxonomists and general fans of phylogenetic systematics".

This book is full of beautiful pictures and an interesting story of how author Diane Ackerman got to "meet" some monk seals. She was fortunate enough to be able to tag some seals for protection and research and describes the experience in detail. Recommend this book for your young aspiring marine biologists and animal lovers of all ages.

Great, great, great!

The story is imaginative and witty, and the illustrations are complex (not busy, just intricate) and colorful. I've already given one copy as a gift and am now buying another.
