The photos are amazing, the closeups are incredible, the details are excellent for teaching a myriad of concepts relating to the natural history and biology of pond critters. The text is broken up into nice, readable sections and paragraphs, making this a perfect science book for middle elementary grades. But it's really the photos that star in this book, they are some of the best I have seen in any pond book! They draw the kids in and encourage them to read the text.

This book is chock full of colorful illustrations of the ocean. It has tons of information about the different areas of the ocean and the creatures that live in that part of the ocean. There are little tabs at the bottom of the book making turning the pages easy on little fingers. This book is definately worth the price!

I love this book. I bought it for my second grade nephew and my niece who will be 4 in January. I absolutely love it. A great story and it explains about Manatees at a child's level which is informative and educational not boring or hard to understand. I am glad that I bought this book from AMAZON. I read this at Sea World in Orlando and I loved it. I also love Armadillo's Orange and All about turkeys by Jim Arnosky. He writes such great animal stories for young children. I highly recommend him to any parent with young children

This book is short, but sweet. The illustrations are nothing less than astonishing and the plot is very good.

It would be a very nice story for a teacher to read to her students when they are studying manatees.

The Mai Po and Deep Bay mangrove area is one of the most important botanical locations in Hong Kong. This book provides lots of information on this area, and it is also a scholarly work. I learn a great lot reading through it.

DK Publishing Guías Visuales Series of nature books are all outstanding. This definitely includes El Mar. The pictures are outstanding. The book contains sections on oceans of the past, life in the sea, how the seas affect climate, coral, life in the coral, explorers of the sea, marine products, and more. Definitely for 8 year olds to adults. Great reference and reading book for students and teachers alike.

This is the algae bible for the west coast of North America. Abbott and Hollenberg's "Marine Algae of California" is without question the best taxonomic guide to algae of the region available anywhere.

This book contains taxonomic keys, summaries of the geographic ranges, biology, and ecology of algae. It also has excellent line drawings that show details of the thalli of algae, as well as details of the characteristics that distinguish one alga from another.

This book is a "must have" for anyone who is interested in learning the algae of the west coast of North America.

This is not a pretty picture book of algae, it is a research reference to west coast algae. If you are looking for "the" authoritative work for algae of the west coast," then this is the book for you.

This is a thorough guide with great illustrations and photos.It's a bit big to stuff in your pocket. Much more thorough than my well known field guide. I am a teacher and its great. But I wish I owned when my kids were young . The last creature identified was a Diamond backed terrapin. Useful accesories?; nets, buckets, microscope.
