Dotty is a sweet little hippo, friendly and kind. She's smart. She's a lot of fun. But, she's also pink. Not just pink but
REALLY pink. Everyone else is purple. How did that happen? Does it REALLY matter that she's pink? Come and enjoy the fun while
learning that the outside doesn't matter at all.

Beautiful book. Very relaxing to read. The pictures are wonderful. The writing takes the stress out of the day and makes
you wish you were at the beach building sandcastles with your kids. Great book for reading to the kids, or silently, enjoying
the peace.

Dreams of Dolphins Dancing tells of a young girl, much like anyone's daughter, who encounters a solitary Spinner dolphin while
snorkeling. This chance meeting leads to an adventure, perhaps real, perhaps imagined, in which the youth discovers much
about the fragile relationship between mankind and the environment, the strength of love and the wonders of the ocean's
rich variety of life. Although it deals with a disturbing subject, the environmental assault against our oceans from pollution
and questionable fishing practices, it is ultimately a story that empowers the reader to act, rather than despair. The
watercolor illustrations are exquisite and in themselves more than worth the price of the book. Don't be fooled by the
category "children's book." It is appealing to all ages.
A great way to share ocean life and environmental awareness.

As a mother, scuba diver and teacher I appreciate this book in so many ways. This book inspires children to get involved.
Environmentally correct, vividly descriptive narrative stimulates curiosity and promotes an early love of sea life. Professionally
painted, full page illustrations celebrate the undersea world in visual explosions that call to children's senses and awaken
emerging imaginations and fantasies. But, it is the gentle flow of the tale itself that peaks children's interests while
sending a strong emotional message that calls each child to personal environmental action. This very special book is sure
to tug at the heart strings of young and old alike as it empowers the human spirit to dare to believe that maybe, just maybe
one very small person really can make a difference. To share this book with your family is to embark on an adventure that
might just change your life." - Lisa Feeney, MS Edu.

This is a cute book. If you know and like Jane Simmons' work (ie: Come along daisy) I think you will enjoy her cute tale
of a fun little dog that is bored, finds a friend in a lost seal, and helps re-unite it with its mommy. The illustrations
are so pretty, and bring you right in to the beach setting. Ebb and Flo is a fun little book that my 3 year old daughter
enjoys reading with me. She likes to say the seal sounds "Wah, Wah" along as I read. There is something endearing about
a baby seal, and helping it find its mommy, that just interests my little girl. She also really likes "Come along Daisy"
another Jane Simmons book. Jane Simmons is good at keeping the story simple, yet interesting enough not to bore the reader,
and of course her artwork is just so great.
A thoughtful story about compassion and helping others.

My 2nd grader had to do a presentation on dolphins for school. This book was hands down the most informative. Losts of good
questions with short, several paragraph answers that an elementary student could understand. Full of good information to
get a large project started.

My granddaughter has a 4 year old and I gave this to him because his mother wanted to him to do something other than computer
games. She had a similar book when she was a teen and thought this book would introduce him to the pleasure of drawing. I
really think he might have a problem with his mother drawing in it. She was very excited when she saw it.

I can't say enough good things about this drawing book. It starts with a couple of pages of drawing techniques, and then
gives you a bunch of blank pages -- with wobbly eyeballs that show through in the middle. You can draw on both sides of the
paper. Additionally, in between each pair of blank pages is a narrow, bookmark-shaped page with drawing hints and scientific
background. Every strip shows a different creature in various stages of being drawn, which gives you a good idea of how to
go about creating your own version of that creature. Alternatively, you can ignore the suggestions and draw whatever you
feel like!
It's spiral bound, so it lays flat. The green fish on the cover is a three-dimensional plastic pencil sharpener, and it includes the pencil. Perfect for a budding cartoonist or incurable doodler in the 8 to 13 age range. I might also suggest this for a kid who's going to be cooped up in a car for a long time, or to be saved for a day when it's too wet (or you're too sick) to play outside.

One of my favorite hiking memories involves exploring Point Reyes National Seashore for the first time the morning after Christmas,
2004. The day was crisp and clear, with a slight breeze, and the park was quite crowded that day. Like all new tourists
to the park, I went to the famous Point Reyes Lighthouse for my first stop. It was very nearly my last too. On the way down
the stairs to the lighthouse I came across a large number of whale watchers scanning the ocean and breathlessly joined them
as we observed one gray whale after another making its way along the coast. From the steps above the lighthouse we were able
to clearly see the spouts, flukes, and occasional soundings of these magnificent creatures. It was hours before I could pull
myself away. I was hooked on whale watching then and there.
If you are interested in watching the California Gray Whales as they make their thousand mile migrations from Alaska to Baja California, by all means get this relatively inexpensive guidebook. As a previous reviewer noted, it has a lot of information, including facts about the migration and the whale's life cycle. You will also learn how to distinguish whales by the type of spout they produce, and what has been done to protect California Gray Whales and bring them back from near extinction.
The book also offers plenty of advice for where and when to see Gray Whales, as well as rules for traveling with them in private boats. Now that I have read the guide (and been on a few whale watching cruises) I plan to visit Baja in the winter. As the author notes, only in the calving grounds of San Ignacio Lagoon can one truly get up close and personal with these creatures. If you want to know when and where to have similar experiences, by all means get this guide. It is a quick and inexpensive way to add to your whale watching pleasure.
