"Doing What Comes Naturally" is perhaps one of the best recent expressions of a certain type of American literature. That
type can be found in the writings of such persons as Mencken and Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. Philosophically, the expression
for it is "pragmatism," but what it really is is probably best expressed by a phrase written by Fish for another book. The
book is called "Professional Correctness," and the phrase is "how stupid can you be?" That, in a line, pretty much sums
up the thought of Fish's predecessors, and sums up the book Fish has written here. Fish's book is a fairly good one to read
if one needs to have one's stupidities pointed out; a better source, however, of this sort of thing is still Mencken's "Chrestomathy."
Nevertheless, Fish has the advantage over Mencken of being alive, and is thus in a better position to call our own most recent
stupidities by name. So from that point of view Fish is worth reading.

One of the true classic cookbooks published in the late 20th century, this book features a wide variety of seafood, wild game
and meat recipes from the legendary restaurateur Dominique D'Ermo. Besides some classic traditional recipes, there are some
real obscure recipes too: octopus fritters, champagne fish fillets, whiskey lobster, coot stew, rattlesnake salad, beer shrimp,
and many more. Truly a unique collection that is now out of print.

I ran across this book years ago when my daughter was in preschool. The images in the book are very colorful and really add
to the words. We've owned a copy ever since. The story itself is simple and enjoyable on all levels. The age range is accurate,
from about 3 or 4 up to 8. After second grade, the book does get a little young for children, but it's still enjoyable.
The song is also fun and easy, so don't be surprised if your little one(s) is singing it hours or days later!

Down to the Sea by Jay Nicholas captures the imagination of both children and adults. A young salmon calls for help to the
man kneeling on the riverbank, "My neighborhood is no longer safe," the little smolt cries, "and no one seems to care." The
man tells the smolt that people in Oregon do care and have written a four volume Plan to help. The Plan is too heavy for
the little fish to carry back to his friends, so the man reduces its length to one volume, then one page, and finally a single
sentence. Now the smolt can carry the good news to the other salmon that the people of Oregon have pledged to make their
ecosystem safe.
This fanciful tale with its Picasso-like art is a must for every concerned person's library.

In Drink: Never Mind The Peanuts, wine experts Susy Atkins and Dave Broom effectively collaborate to provide the reader with
a highly entertaining and informative primer on the many styles of wines, beers, and spirits. The informative, profusely illustrated,
"reader friendly" text is enhanced with wine style charts featuring at-a-glance key styles of wine, what grapes they include,
and whether they offer value for cost. There are a wealth of cocktail recipes for those who like to mix it, food pairing suggestions,
even party ideas. Drink: Never Mind The Peanuts is an ideal addition to any wine, beer and spirits reference shelf for the
dedicated party giver!

drug prohibition, not drugs, is destroying America

Jefferson Fish has done an outstanding job putting together the essays in this book. He shows us how damaging this policy
of drug prohibition is and how its tentacles reach out to harm almost every part of our society. From the forward by fmr.
New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson to the last chapter by Stephen Duke and Albert Gross this little book covers it all. Medical
issues, economic, philosophical, they're all here, along with some thoughts on how to develop an exit strategy.
