I loved this book. It's funny and warm and really kicks along. When I read it to my two children, they laughed hysterically at one particularly funny (and naughty) line. I won't spoil it for you. I laughed as well. A really good read for kids who are 6 to 10 (or therabouts).

A wonderful piece of work - but I would have preferred the genus Litoria to be split into the various genera that Wells and Wellington (1985) used, as it is just so much easier to understand the relationships of each from a zoogeographic point of view. Nevertheless, all good things come to those who ask often enough, so here's asking for a revised edition !

I used this book when researching my thesis on columnaris and adhesion. It is very important, especially for freshwater aquaculturists, to get this book and learn more about columnaris. It strikes salmonids as well as channel catfish in the southeast. It hits all life stages, sizes, weights. And there is still so much to know... But this book is an informative place to start.

One of the greatest mangas ever made!

By far, it's my favorite volume. There are more scenes with Ash and Eiji together, which is a plus. I absolutley loved this manga since the first time I bought it. It's a shoujo manga that appeals to both sexes because the plot and the artwork is more like a shonen manga. You won't be bothered by the really low shonen-ai content on the manga, so I say you should give it a chance. It contains lots of violence and some mature themes, but I wouldn't call it exactly for adults.

I just love this series. It's a story a bit off the beaten path that mixes New York gangs, the NYPD, a main character with an IQ over 200 who is also the leader of a gang, the Italian mafia, the Vietnam war, sex and drug scandals, and a little bit of shonen ai for a story that keeps you guessing how they all finally tie together. It's fast-paced, funny, and intelligent and this volume is no different. The plot just keeps getting more and more complex and the ending always leaves you looking for more. I'm really looking forward to the next volume!!

5 Years and $250 Later

This series is one that gets better with age. The story telling, in the last three volumes especially, is superb.

This final novel is a compilation of three stories. The first is the final chapter to the main story arch, and as the blurb says, it is in turns heart warming and achingly tragic. The second features one of my favorite characters Shorter Wong, and his first unfortunate meeting with Ash Callenreese. The last is far and away my favorite. Set eight years after the end of the series it follows Akira Ibe on her first visit to New York and Sing Soo-Ling (now 6'3", kid had to grow up some time) in his attempts to redeem the sins of the dead. A breathtaking story filled with real life humor and heart break.

Great reference for smoke cooking & unique recipes

This book is the "bible" of smoke cooking. Charlie and Ruthie lead you systematically through the benefits of charcoal and electric smoke cookers then give you a blueprint of how to achieve the best smoked meats, fish, vegetables, etc. They go through what to look for when choosing meat, what temperature to bring the meat to for done-ness and how to check for done-ness. There is a complete section on rubs to choose/use with various meats (including recipes for making your own rubs). As a bonus, the book also includes time honored recipes that will make your mouth water (try the garlic roasted pecans)! Great book for smoke cookers!!

Goood rogue sub yarn

Review Date: 1999-02-12
Good rogue sub yarn. Irving A. Greenfield's novel is about a submarine called the Barracuda. It's captained by an ultra-patriot who sees commies everywhere. One of the first ships the submarine attacks is a ship called the African Wolf. The captain thinks that the United States and the Soviet Union are at war so he decides to attack what he perceives to be enemy shipping. He's supposed to be participating in war games but he's taken them too far. Read this book to find out more.

Practical for Real People
Helpful Votes: 24 out of 26 total.
Review Date: 2007-05-02
These days it seems that energy advice is available on every street corner--"turn down your thermostat", "caulk your house" or "buy a solar panel". Unfortunately, most of this "common sense" is either massively expensive or based on "cut back" and save. It's hardly inspiring or practical for real people.

This book restores my confidence in practical energy solutions. It's not "preachy" or "environmentalist"---it simply lays out how energy works and options to cut energy waste. It's easy to read, yet packed with information. I haven't seen technical writing this good in years.

The content is fairly evenly divided between discussions on preventing energy loss, recapturing lost energy, and obtaining "free" energy. The explanations are lucid, logical and cover the major energy options. The book also includes worksheets for calculating energy use in your own home.

Overall, what I appreciate most is this book doesn't preach/promote a specific energy solution. Instead it simply explains the options and lets you decide what will give you the most gain for your specific house/lifestyle. Once you read this book I guarantee you won't think about energy the same way again.
