I just loved this book. The dialog in this was so good. It had me laughing as well as moments that were touching. Three Wolves was a superior hero and "English" was a great match. This is one I will keep on my shelf for a re-read. You won't be disappointed.

I defintely enjoyed this book. Three Wolves was an unusual hero, with his power to call in the wolves and the way he physically changed. He was also a tender lover, despite his rough-edged ways. If I wasn't engaged, I'd like to find a man like him. Please, Carol, write a sequel!

THE BEST BOOK YET. UNBELIEVABLE. A KEEPER

My God... this is the type of book you can't, won't put down. What characaters. What a story line. So wonderfully written, so real. What a man, Three Wolves, Comanche gunslinger, and much more.. mysterious, calls upon the spirit becomes one with the wolves. A story that has me thinking all the time. Could there ever be such a man as Three Wolves?? Maybe not in this lifetime, but then again, you never know. READ THIS BOOK... IT'S A KEEPER. NEVER LET IS OUT OF YOUR SIGHT...

AWESOME STORY!
Wow, I just finished reading this book and I can't stop thinking about it! I loved everything about it. I love sister books anyway, and this is one of the best I've ever read. And the 3 McCall brothers make it even better...

When artist Liza Cassidy discovers an unopened letter from her beloved sister, who died 5 years earlier, everything changes for Liza, for the letter reveals that Laurel had a child. As Liza travels to the Atlantic seashore, she's travelling back in time--to the last year of Laurel's life. There's much to discover in charming Alcott, NH, such as her adorable nephew, his father, Jack, and jack's brothers, one a preacher, the other the family bad-boy. However nothing is quite as it seems, and a quest for knowledge becomes a discovery of a new life for the McCall brothers and three special women...

Hold on to your hats, because you're going to laugh, cheer, worry about, and fall in love with these characters.

A real page turner

Liza Cassidy leaves California to close her family home in Nevada following the death of her mother. As she goes through things, she finds the autopsy of her twin sister Laurel dead five years from a brain tumor. Liza is stunned as Laurel apparently gave birth to a child.

Liza travels to Alcott, New Hampshire where Laurel spent her last happy days. There she confronts Laurel's beloved Jack McCall, sire of her nephew and meets little Tommy recovering from chemo due to cancer now in remission. As Liza and Jack exchange information about the beloved Laura, they fall in love. However, will they be able to overcome the ghost of her twin to find their own happiness even though she would have wanted that for two of the people she most loved in the world.

COME SUMMER is clearly a tear jerker with Laurel's death and Tommy's leukemia. However, readers will too easily categorize the novel that way for the tale is much more as the entertaining story line is a deep character study that looks inside the soul of the lead couple and indirectly Laurel. The key support cast, mostly his relatives and friend, but also her deceased mom and sister, provide depth as each one is unique so that the audience receive a strong drama that will touch the heartstrings of fans. This work is dynamite reading

My daughter loves this book. Her favorite page is "A Band of Coyotes." We read it together the first time and now she sits and reads it out loud for the rest of us. She really loves the illustrations and likes to count how many animals are on each page. Our whole family has enjoyed this book! It would be a great gift idea.

I gave this book to my niece for her birthday. She adored the illustrations at once and read the book before going to bed that night. She called me right away and said how much she loved the book. It is very well written, full of information, and fun to read. My sister was so impressed with the book she is going to give it for gifts as well. Who knew gatherings of animals could be so fun to learn about! This is the perfect gift book or coffee table book. I can't wait to get one for myself!

A Crossing of Zebras is an ideal introduction to poetry that is musical and imaginative, and I would love to read this book to my little nephew overseas. (Instead, I've had to send the book to his father, to read to him, until he can enjoy the poems himself.) The illustrations are bold and colorful, while the poems open up the child's world to language that is creative and lively. At the end, when the poet says: Let's write a poem together, the child will (I think) want to do just that. I started writing poetry as a child, thanks to books like this one. What a delight!

Margie Maddox's poems entertain as well as educate -- they are lively but with puns and language play that make them equally interesting for grown ups reading this to children. Huber's prints make a rich complement to these engaging poems.

With her family's finances in ruins, Lady Elizabeth Hampton (Izzie) knows there's only one possible answer. She must marry, and marry well enough to pay off the debts and secure a future for her younger sister and twin brother. The fact that her affluent objectives have disturbing habits like bad poetry, lack of backbone, and male corsets must not be allowed to disuade her. For certain, she can't let Valen, Lord St. Cleve, the man who welcomes her brother and himself into his London home, win her heart. He may be handsome, but his limited estate would do nothing to rescue her family.

Valen can't understand the fascination Izzie holds for him. She's snooty, exactly like the aristocrats he holds in such contempt, obsessed with money, and too abrupt with her sharp wit. That he finds himself obsessing over her can only mean that he finds her completely horrible. Yet, there is something about her that he finds quite compelling.

That initial attraction is enough for Valen's aunt Honore to work with. Honore, being from the pre-Regency generation, doesn't mind putting aside proprieties in order to set a relationship in the right direction and she knows that Valen needs a woman who can be his equal, stand up to his occasionally overbearing ways and break him of his certainty. And when Honore is on the warpath, nothing can get in the way. Certainly not Valen and Izzie's continual attempts to persuade themselves that the attraction doesn't exist. But England has worse enemies than aristocratic indulgencies--including an evil French spy--a spy intent on destroying both England and the growing feelings between Izzie and Valen.

Author Katheleen Baldwin delivers a funny and clever comedy of manners and misunderstanding. Valen is the perfect angry hero and Izzie just the woman to tame him. The sewing motif running through the story adds a bit of spice to the humor and plays a role in the plot and character development as well.

Fans of the regency romance will definitely find CUT FROM THE SAME CLOTH a perfect fit.

I love it!

This book was a lot of fun. I started reading it without consulting the back cover, and was quite tickled when the premise of the story was revealed. Very clever. Valen, Lord St. Cleve was likable from the beginning. Who can resist a hunky guy who's visiting his ailing father? Elizabeth Hampton wasn't introduced in such a glowing light, but as I learned her story, she grew on me, too. Their relationship is based on pure chemistry but develops into a story of true love. The book was filled with lots of emotion and sexual tension. Big recommendation to all my romance friends.

Excellent.

Elizabeth "Izzie" Hampton is searching for a husband. But she has only her beauty to recommend her. Using her exquisite fashion sense, she creates gowns that attract the eyes and dazzles the senses. The only fly in the ointment is her brother's friend, Lord St. Cleve "Valen". For some boorish, unknown reason he begins to figure out ways to humiliate her in society. He even arrives at a society function in outrageous apparel that matches her dress! Elizabeth refuses to let him stamp her down. She is doing what she feels she must.

Valen finds the snobbish ways of the London society to be disgusting. After watching his grandfather making his mother's life miserable, he likes nothing more than to make fun at the Ton and all that they stand for. He believes Elizabeth to be the biggest snob of them all. Yet he cannot help but be attracted to her. Does not matter since his purse is not deep enough for her. He spies on what she purchases in order to match her dress and humiliate her. But then his spying ends up getting a shop keeper killed and Elizabeth almost strangled to death, right before his eyes. A man Valen (as "Red Hawk") has hunted for a long time believes Elizabeth is bait to lure him into one of Valen's traps. Knowing what the man has done to others, Valen is determined to sweep Elizabeth to safety. Only, in doing so, he learns that there is more to Elizabeth than he saw at first.

***** I must admit that I found Elizabeth to be too arrogant at the beginning. However, I soon understood why she had to be that way. The author, Kathleen Baldwin, did an excellent job in letting me (as the reader) see and understand why both main characters acted the way they did. I certainly did not believe the two would suit. Shows how wrong I am! With subtle pen strokes Kathleen Baldwin mixes threads consisting of romance, believable characters with realistic traits, humor, and a bit of danger to create a wondrous painting that will linger in your mind's eye long after you finish the story. Terrific! *****

Young Genna Whitworth and Eli Blaylock were told as children that they were wrong for one another. She was from wealth and he a poor Conch boy. Yet their friendship was fast until one violent night of fire and death tore them apart. Seventeen years later they are reunited under quite different circumstances. Genna flees from the unspeakable advances of her cruel brother-in-law only to be shipwrecked and rescued by the man she believd dead. As Genna slowly mends, she and Eli rediscover their past attraction, while he battles against honor in the matter of his fiancee, the daughter of his mentor and benefactor. Author Colleen Easton knows how to tighten the screws of her plot, how to box in her characters until the reader can't figure out how things can possibly work out. No predicable outcomes here, rather there are excellent twists and turns.

Set in the Keys of southern Florida in the years of unrest before the Civil War, Dangerous Attractions is as verdant and steamy as the tropical islands about which it's written. A culture of taboos and prejudices direct the life choices and paths of its exciting and well-written characters.

Eli Blaylock, a Conch boy rescued at twelve after losing his father and brothers in a Seminole attack, strives to become worthy of acceptance, not only by his rescuer, Jeremiah Hardy, but also into the society which shuns his Bahamian bloodlines.

Genna Whitworth is plagued by the guilt of her perceived role in the death of her own father, lost in the same Indian attack. Marred both mentally and physically by the trauma, she has never married and has remained emotionally safe, hidden in a private world of her beloved wildlife drawings. But now, the greed and avarice of a wicked brother-in-law has threatened even that small security.

When a vicious storm and subsequent shipwreck throw Genna back into Eli's arms, the emotions, which boil to the surface every time the two old friends are close, jeopardize the honor and loyalty of both. Not only must this hero and heroine deal with the misconceptions of their shared childhood tragedy, but they must also face their current moral dilemma. Eli cannot go against his own pledge and the wishes of the now dying Jeremiah, a man who not only saved his life, but also educated Eli and helped him to start his own wrecker salvage business. Genna must, in turn, face her own sacrifices to regain her wavering self-respect.

Dangerous Attractions is a well-woven tale, a balance of honor and morality versus the desire for a lifetime of true love. But at what cost?

Colleen Easton has penned a story that tugs at one's heart while pulling the reader along through page after satisfying page. An eclectic and interesting cast of characters, including a foul-mouthed parrot named Heathen, each with their own issues, keeps the pace moving. A great read.

Entrancing read! Very highly recommended

It was a time of racial unrest in Indian Key, Florida as the Seminole Indians, intent upon violence, swept through the settlement with fire and evil intent. Eleven-year-old Genna Whitworth shouldered the responsibility of her father's death that night, accepting the unending blame of her mother and sister. She didn't know her childhood friend Eli Blaylock survived, or that he also blamed her for that night. Years later, fate brings Genna and Eli together again, laying them at cross-purposes and tempting their hearts.

Jerimiah Hardy rescued the boy from a cistern, taking the twelve-year-old home to become part of his family. Eighteen years later Eli captains the wrecker that comes to the aid of a ship off of the Florida Reef. A woman, battered and nearly dead, captures his attention. Long ago he had decided that having answers to old questions would not matter anymore; that answers would only dredge up memories best left undisturbed. But Genna's presence stirs more than old questions for this man bound by honor and loyalty to marry another.

Author Colleen Easton pens an entrancing historical tale in DANGEROUS ATTRACTIONS. Easton's masterful storytelling sweeps readers away into a world by turns romantic and gritty, always compelling. A bird named Heathen, complex loyalties, and unexpected twists keep the plot moving along quickly, pulling the reader into an almost forgotten world torn by racial differences and rewoven by ethics and honor. From the moment their paths cross as adults, Genna and Eli are on a collision course with destiny, forced to deal the repressed secrets of the past and the dangers of the present. Their characters spring vividly alive with rich description and an impressive background. Secondary characters likewise sparkle, from the stolid Jeremiah and his secretive daughter, to Eli's entrancing first mate. DANGEROUS ATTRACTIONS comes very highly recommended.

A seductive story that I highly recommend.

Set in the 1850's of Key West. Genevieve "Genna" Whitworth was from a Boston high class family. She met Eli Blaylock as a child. While her father studied the people and the area of the Indian Keys, Eli and Genna became friends. But a Seminole Indian attack changed it all. Neither knew if the other survived.

Almost twenty years later, Fate put them together again. Genna had been living with her married sister. Her brother-in-law, Professor Theo Drummond, was an author of natural histories. Genna received no credit for her amazing illustrations. She never minded. However, Theo began slipping drugs in her drinks and trying to seduce her. Once he all but succeeded. Genna did the only thing she could think of, she ran. She wanted to reach her brother, Hans. Instead, she ended up shipwrecked and badly wounded. Eli rescued her.

Eli had become a sea captain. His crew was in charge of the salvage operation. He was engaged to Abbie, who was from a prominent family in the area. Abbie took care of Genna as she healed. Eli and Genna still cared for each other and their attraction grew. Yet Eli believed Genna had abandoned him all those years ago and harbored hard feelings. He knew Genna was running from something or someone, but she would not share her fear. She became terrified when she learned Theo was en route to pick her up and take her home. Eli was determined to find out why.

**** That is the main plot. The author, Colleen Easton (a.k.a. Colleen Thompson) keeps the attention of the readers by slowly revealing the horrors of the Seminole attack on that fateful night so long ago. In addition, secondary characters seem to have lives all their own! A few extra plots roll in the background making the suspense build to an even higher pitch.

A seductive story that I highly recommend. This author is a gem! ****

This is one of those books you will find yourself thinking of long after you have finished it. Rick's escape to the wilderness is better than most accounts because he appears so human. As a city boy, he makes mistakes and he admits he had no idea how to do many of the tasks their survival depended on. He learns, through trial and error, and in the process becomes the wilderness man you read about in other books (as if they came shrink-wrapped with all the instincts and skills already installed). You also feel very bad for Rick and his girlfriend, as their relationship unravels and they ultimately split up. I'm sure Melissa comes out looking worse since Rick is telling the story, but I did want to slap her for being so selfish. Then finally you love the story of a man and his son - it's so obvious that Janus is the center of Rick's world. I loved this book and look forward to reading it again. I highly recommend this book to anyone who dreams of ditching their suburban life and taking off for the wilderness.

This is a dream story. The author does something all of us think about at one time or another - quitting the desk job, grabbing the wife/girlfriend and headingn out to parts unknown for a while. In this case, parts unknown was Alaska and Richard Leo was determined to stay.

Over the course of the book his girlfriend can't take it (don't blame her after listening to all their trials and tribulations) and he keeps his son. The parts of the story dealing with the boy, his reactions to such an upbringing, their relationship are without a doubt the best in the book. As far as is known, he is still in the backwoods of Alaska living the life of a wilderness survivor. More power to him.

Richard Leo paints a fantastic portrait of life in rural Alaska. And by rural I mean no neighbors for a 100 square mile area. It's the story of a man disenchanted with life in the city and a search for something more. His quest becomes fulfilled as a father to a newborn son. To build a new life for himself and Janus takes ever ounce of strength. But the rewards are lasting, as is Denali.

The edges of the earth is must reading for those of us who find North American society a greedy, consumer-driven regime which must be avoided whenever possible; for author Richard Leo chronicles exactly how this can be achieved. Leo's inspirational story of escaping to find a new life in the Alaskan wilderness will have you sitting on the edge of your imagination at times and marvelling at the spirit that lies inside all of us if we reach deep enough. Disillusioned with the mundane rat race of New York, Leo chucks it all in for the unknown wilds of Alaksa with $900 in savings and an extremely resourceful mind. Eventually he literally carves a new life for himself in the Alaskan wilderness, far from the shallow trappings of the society he escaped. His journey is a difficult and heroic one and well worth reading about. Leo's story appeals on many levels, from the psychological to the physical and at its simplest, details what happens when a man tries to strip life down to the barest essentials. Leo shows us the frightening beauty that can exist in the basic struggle to survive on a sometimes hostile planet. Great stuff!

On the night before her wedding, Vikings attack the home of Saxon noblewoman Edin. They kill her future husband, pillage and burn down her home and take her and several servants captive. The Viking's leader, Thoryn Kirkynson, plans to sell Edin, his beautiful new "thrall" (slave), but soon desires her too much and therefore keeps her. Despite her courage and the fact that Thoryn begins to care for her, it is very difficult for the gentle and highborn Edin to deal with her new situation among the often violent Vikings. And Thoryn has a hard time accepting his feelings for the Saxon woman, especially since his father was murdered by his thrall-lover...
This is one of the best Viking-romances I've ever read. The characters and the story are interesting and realistic, the conflicts not artificial but credible, and so are their solutions. You are really taken into this culture and its people, up to the point of a man and woman finding together emotionally and sexually in a time when a woman's consent and pleasure were generally not required and few men gave even a thought to that question, and when men saw love and consideration as a weakness in themselves. So the problems these two have to deal with in themselves and each other make for an interesting and adult (in the best sense of the word) read. If you want an intelligent romance that is still full of suspense, sexy and heart-warming, this is it!

The best Viking romance.

Edin's Embrace by Nadine Crenshaw is a very sensual Viking story. Thoryn Kirkynson is a Viking jarl who has travelled from afar to raid and pillage. He invades a manor home called Fair Hope on the morning of a wedding between Edin and her childhood sweetheart. Edin is a renowed beauty and hears the horrible noises as the Norse invaders forcefully enter her home. She is desperate to hide, to save herself but knows there is no place she can run to for safety. She knows the Vikings will find her. Thoryn enters her bedroom and sees her standing there. Her beauty holds him spellbound. Edin is terrified of Thoryn yet is strangely fascinated by his powerful, fierce presence. He takes her captive bringing her back to Norway to sell her on the slave markets. Yet, Edin's beauty and gentleness soon win over Thoryn's ice encased heart. She effortlessly arouses within him a fierce desire. A desire he cannot resist even with his iron will. Consumned with lust, he claims her for his own. Not brutally as she had feared but with gentle patience. Edin's fear soon becomes replaced with forbidden desire for this Viking who has seized her. Yet danger awaits the lovers. An unknown enemy is awaiting the precise moment in which to strike. An enemy whose cunning and murderous intent is well concealed from all. Edin's Embrace is a thoroughly enjoyable, very HOT lovestory. Thoryn is your typical Viking. He is powerful, ruthless and so ready to kill. Yet he loses that fierceness and becomes a slave to the one woman he had vowed to resist. He willingly loses himself in Edin's Embrace.

During the civil war, her father sent her to relatives in England until he could get his life settled on a ranch in the Texas wilderness and send for her to join him. Through the years, his letters became less frequent and less promising until they stopped completely. She needed to know why, so as soon as she reached of age, she set out to find her father. All she had was a few dollars, a few clothes and a portrait locket of her parents. As soon as she arrived in Texas, she was robbed of all her possessions, including the beloved locket. Destitute, she found solace in a brothel and a handsome rugged, gunslinging stranger in her bed. Incited from sleep by his tenderness, she surrendered to a night of passion. She never dreamed this unknown man was a revered Texas Ranger on a secret mission who had connections to her past and future.

This is a very enjoyable read! Don't pass it up!

This was also my first adult historical romance, back in 1989. I loved this book. It was so full of adventure and well developed characters. Like Lia below, this book hooked me fish, line, and sinker. I love reading Janelle Taylor's historical romances, but I wish she was writing more historicals still, rather than contemporaries. She's a really gifted Western and Indian romance writer. Thank goodness, I picked this book up 13 years ago. It introduced me to a whole new genre and hours upon hours of reading pleasure.

Jam packed with adventure, action, seduction, and romance.

A very interesting story which helps to set the stage for other books to follow in this series. A good stand alone tale but also the foundation to all in this series. Very believable events and interesting characters.

I loved this book and want to continue to read the rest in the series. I couldn't put the book down, waiting to see what was going to happen to this young, brave boy that grows into a fine man. I want to follow the story as his life unfolds, but want to keep them in order. I would like to thank the author for an exciting adventure of the true west, and hope there will be a happy ending to Art, the Preacher's life.

Very good book

Really enjoyed this book. After reading all the Preacher books and almost all the Mountain Man Series, I felt that the author was repeating many sections in some of the books. Not this one! It tells the story of Preacher when he started out. So it was all new material. It was hard to put down!

Flowers From Berlin, at almost 600 pages, kept me turning the pages at a very fast pace. Set against a background of international upheaval, Hynd weaves an interesting plot of sabotage, intrigue, murder and a attempt to assassinate FDR by a professional killer and the Third Reich. Hynd's plot and characters are well-developed, his dialogue is true to the period, his historical facts are presented in a interesting manner and he provides sufficient tension to make you read on and on and on until you find out what happens next. In many ways, Hynd writes in the tradition of Ken Follett and Frederick Forsyth -- but not quite as good. Two factors keep me from giving this book a 5-star rating. One is that it would have been more exciting if it was about 100 pages shorter; and the second is that the killer's identity is fairly predictable. Nonetheless, if you like suspense thrillers that take place about the time of WWII, Flowers From Berlin is a book I think you'd enjoy. I've had this book in my personal library since 1987 before I just got around to reading it. It won't take me anywhere near that long to read the rest of the books I have by this talented author.

First rate espionage tale, well researched and well written. The plot is absorbing, the pace is swift and the conclusion is unexpectedly devious! Noel Hynd is the equal of Follett (Jackdaws), Thayer (Pursuit), and my own personal favorite, the wonderful Jack Higgins and his exciting Eagles!!!!! Mr. Hynd, if you're listening, how about another World War II espionage tale?

There's not a whole lot of words that can describe this piece of literary genius that the folks at Stealth Press have revived. I got a copy from my mom for Christmas because she knows that I'm Hynd's biggest fan. I think she got it directly from their website. At any rate, if you haven't gotten a copy of this book, do NOT hesitate. It RULES.
