This sweet picture book is based on Christ Jesus' parable found in Luke 15:3-4. Both the text and the illustrations are great for teaching little ones a comforting lesson. As the author puts it: "God above keeps us in his boundless love."

My son is 3 and he loves it! We needed more books geared towards his age. I choose this book because we were given another from the same author that he loves "Have you seen my Potty". This book is great. When they are all in bed and they hear the "rat-a-tat" at the door, my son knocks on the floor to make the sound. When they slam the door in the on the worlf my son says "Bonk". The illustrations are great. The rhyming is great because he's actually working on rhyming words at preschool. It's just a fun book for us to read each night! I highly recommend it!

Two years ago I read and enjoyed Driving Over Lemons, the memoir of a British ex-pat and his family's life in Spain. A Parrot in the Pepper Tree is the follow up book, covering the time when Stewart was writing his first book along with some memories from his youth.

While I felt the bits about his attempt at being a rock star were rather dull, the rest of the book more than makes up for one skip-worthy chapter. The majority of his book takes place in the year when he was writing his first memoir. He describes all his different attempts at farming including a bleak winter drive into Sweden to shear sheep and a go at growing potatoes. Neither venture goes well but he takes the disasters with a good sense of humor. To his sup rise, he succeeds as a writer even though his daughter insists that he can't write (at least in Spanish).

It took me longer to read than expected but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Chris Stewart is an enthusiastic ex-pat making a living in Spain with his wife and daughter. He tries his hand at sheep sheering, farming and flamenco but ultimately it is writing that he excels at.

A very sturdy book for small children. Easy to read for an older child reading to little brother or sister. I found the quality of the paper to be a lot better than in similar books where lift-flaps have been used and these seem to be much sturdier and will delight children with the picture-surprises under them. It also teaches children the dangers of what can happen if you don't obey your parents, etc., hence the "runaway tractor". My 2 and 4 year old grandsons should both enjoy many years of this simple but adorable book.

Bohensky leaves no quarter for the squeamish as his inquiring scalpel illuminates the underpinnings of those lovable menaces that we call cats. Each step of our exploration is tied to observations about the traits and habits that characterized the creature before its unfortunate arrival at our operating table. For instance, penetrating insights into feline psychology are offered as we "split the hemispheres" of the subject's skull, and inventive theories about the breed's fecundity are offered as we explore its nether regions. I would highly recommend this work to anyone wishing to gain or impart a better understanding of biology. However, I would not advise anyone to repeat our attempt to parlay the untimely death of a beloved pet into an anatomy lesson for under-fives.

Each page will bring either laughter or tears. I found my emotions greatly touched by the book. It is very evident that the author strives to live life to it's fullest and touch the heart and soul of those she meets along the way.
