Tying My Shoes is Fun

After spending some time trying to teach my 3 year old how to tie his shoes. I found "Tie A Bow, Ben Bunny". Shortly after we got this book he was not only tying his shoes but begging to tie mine as well. This is a sturdy book, it has very colorful laces which makes learning how to tie fun. The child will need to know right from left for this book. It teaches using the bunny ear method(loop to loop). What a great book:)

A book that grows with your child

I received this book as a gift (I have the Spanish version). The graphics in the book are very bright and not too busy. What I like best about the book is how you can adapt your reading to your child's developing abilities. The left side of the book has a picture of an object and the word, which is great for babies. On the right side is the flap with the object used in a sentence and is good for toddlers. The flaps keep them busy as you read the sentence. My 15 month loves this book and can open the flaps without any assistance. This might not seem to be a big plus but most flap books are designed for older children so my daughter can not open the flaps herself. Great addition to any child's library!

Timid Timmy is a warmly written story by Andreas Dierssen for young readers about a very timid little hare who wishes he could be like his daring and fearless friend Rocket. But then Timmy learns what true courage and bravery is. Timid Timmy is a playfully drawn and colored picture book with a meaningful message at its heart which is very highly recommended for young readers.

This book is a childrens' picture book about a rabbit who gets too greedy at Halloween. He loves chocolate so much that he finds a sneaky way to steal his friends' candy. When they find out what he's doing, they form a plan to get revenge. Very cute!! Your kids will love it. The author wrote this book when she was 17, and it was published when she was 19 after she won a young author contest. Very cool!

My daughter is 10 months old and this is her favorite book. She laughs out loud while petting the soft bunny nose on the front cover. The textured surfaces invite exploration from little fingers and the story is simple and fun. She likes it so much I'm purchasing "Touch the Kitty" by this author with the hope that it is just as big of a hit!

This is a creative book that brings across the message that the grass only looks greener on the other side of the fence. In the end both town mouse and country mouse learn that their own homes are what they truely love. Teaches one to be grateful for what one has. My children love this book.

A manifesto against blandness
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2006-06-01
Tracking the White Rabbit is one of those pleasant surprises I plucked off a library shelf one day. It is a collection of essays by a Jungian psychologist on a wide range of topics, from politically controversial topics like abortion and homosexuality to eccentricity and the art of cursing. The common thread that runs through all of the essays is a solid rejection of a banal "normalcy" and the pathologization of strong emotion. Two of my favorite pieces were "Feeding the Psyche" and "Blue Notes." In "Feeding the Psyche" Cowan rails against the "junk" words of modern psychology (pop and otherwise) that would reduce all discussion of human emotion to vague terms like "co-dependency" and "issues." In "Blue Notes," she discusses the value of melancholy and it's relation to thoughtfulness and memory. This is a great little book to explore if you believe in the human right to experience the entire range of your emotions deeply and passionately and feel psychically assaulted by the insane modern pressure to take your Prozac and learn to think positive 24-7.

CHARMING book for adults as well as children
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2007-01-14
My husband and I happened up on this book in a little German shop near Cincinnati and I just fell in love with it. Our daughter is in college, but I bought this book for myself and for small visitors to our home. The illustrations are a combination of works from old children's books and postcards, all different styles, and the effect is simply charming. I highly recommend this wonderful book.
