This beautiful story of a boy who goes out into the woods with the intent to trap an animal will bring a tear to the eye of the soft-hearted reader. The story unfolds with such beautiful descriptions of the snowy woods and trek of the boy, you may feel the chill of winter while reading it. At the moment his excitement is fullest at the imminent prospect of the boy catching his prey, Mr. Easterling presents us with a starving, thin and shivering rabbit. The boy's change of heart in his quest and subsequent actions are believable and splendid. I sincerely recommend this book to any parent of an elementary school-age child, boy or girl.

The Proper Care of Rabbits is the best book on rabbits that you can get that's not from the ARBA. It shows info on ALL the breeds, the rabbits history, and the BEST info on breeding! I think being a rabbit breeder myself that every breeder should have this book!

As I read this to my 3-year-old, I thought about how great it would be for a homeschooler. Not only is the art superb, but it includes so much about the history of the pumpkin, how they grow, the fact that they are berries, etc... And it does so without feeling textbookish. Heck, I learned a lot. LOL!

A Thing of Beauty

There's something wonderful about this book. Though oddly titled--rabbit is just another character, not the star of the show--this book is a great find.
This neglected early classic from Golden Books concerns a platypus who doesn't know what kind of animal he is until he is told by a man from the circus. The other animals repeatedly quiz him as to his heritage. To each inquiry he replies simply " I don't know."
The platypus character is a hilarious drawing, but the others don't disappoint. Scary's squirrel, for instance, is a sort of hoodlum, complete with beatnik sweater and a pocket knife on a chain!
This is a great book for children and parents of a creative and thoughful nature. If you are a typical dullard suburbanite parent, however, this book is not for you. You won't get it.

Based on a Korean folk story and illustrated in vibrant colors with art by Eujin Kim Neilan is this lively story of a dragon king who rules the oceans - but is a hypochondriac who worries constantly about his health. He becomes convinced that eating a rabbit's heart will cure all his troubles, and it's up to a threatened but brave rabbit to prove otherwise in this lively story.

This authentic literature is a great addition to this ESL series. This entire series is wonderful. With new migrant students entering my district everyday, I have a population of students with diverse needs. This series includes lessons in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking as well as relates all to real life experiences and other content areas. As well, real, authentic literature is included in almost each new thematic unit.

A gentle story about the importance of responsibility and community

Award-winning children's book creators Deborah L. Duvall and Murv Jacob present Rabbit and the Well, the latest in a series of picturebooks based on a Cherokee cycle of animal tales. In Rabbit and the Well, Ji-Stu the trickster rabbit persuades his animal friends to dig a well so that they will have enough to drink in times of drought. But Ji-Stu is too lazy to participate in creating the well! When Ji-Stu plies his tricks to steal well water anyway, the animals get together and hatch a plan to teach the selfish rabbit a lesson. The stylized illustrations add the perfect touch to this gentle story about the importance of responsibility and community.
