I first read the story of Ho Limlim to my daughter when she was two years old. She still remembers the story, speaks of it, and has names her one white rabbit toy after the story. I've read hundreds of books to my daughter, but this one is still in her mind. I think that speaks volumes about the quality of the story and illustrations. I still hear about it so often I've decided it needs to be added to our family library!

Holly Pond Hill A Child's Book of Christmas

This is one of the most darling books I have seen in a long time. It is perfect to read while sitting on the couch in front of a warm fireplace on a cold snowy evening just before Christmas. The characters that have been created to live in Holly Pond Hill, are just precious. I have found a new delight with each page I turned.
The book is just the size to hold in one hand, in front a a child, while they look at the pictures as you read the poems. As a child, I would have loved these pictures of home and happiness. As a Mother, or Aunt, or Grandmother, I love the deep rich colors and borders and tho the poems are more for my enjoyment, I can then talk with my child about their warm gloves and the times we made gingerbread man cookies. It is wonderful for both the reader and child.
I believe it is just the size and shape to be placed on the table under the lamp right next to the chair, where it can be taken out and gone over many times during the holiday. What a treasure to find such a book and know how to share it with your child. I can just imagine it now, "Remember when we went to the Christmas Tree Farm and you picked ...."

The ideal handbook for those looking for information in a simple format that is complete in detail and content. It is apparent the author has written from first-hand experience on everything from birds to turkeys. A great reference book to have on the shelf when your daughter wants a cage or hutch for her new pet rabbit or you want to know how to tan that hide from your most recent hunting expedition. Want to try your hand at a small farm? This book is a must first.

A delightful story describing spring through a gentle, caring conversation between Honey Rabbit and his daddy. The colorfully detailed illustrations of forest animals in their natural habitats provide a simple yet factual explanation to answer the question: What is spring?

This book is a wonderful folk tale for all to enjoy. I read it to my children; ages 3 and 6. They were intriqued by the pictures and the plot. This tale brings insight into the theory of evolution and sparks the imagination. It also teaches cooperation and sharing which are so imporatant in the learning process.

Great stories your kids will love!

After hearing and watching Gayle Ross tell stories during a Native Children's Authors Festival in Northern California, I came across her audio tapes and absoultely love these stories. My daughter liked listening to them on the way to school and during long road trips, and would re-listen to them every few months without tiring of the stories. She even referenced them when telling her own stories! She was around 7 years old at the time we begin listening to them, and she is now almost 11 and just the other day asked me if we still had these stories before we left on a road trip. My only complaint is I wish they were available on CD. Highy recommend and a great intro. to audio books as an alternative to radio and gameboys on car trips, something the whole family can listen to over and over again.

This story has a great moral to it as well as being very entertaining and interesting to both children and adults. The plus side of the cassette is that Jack Nicholson tells it in such a way that everyone will enjoy listening to it over and over again. The illustrations are perfect to fit the story and are great at intriguing the children. We have had this story through both of our sons and they both STILL enjoy this book. Hopefully will pass it on to the grandchildren. Tell your friends and family about this one.

Danny Glover reads this, and I enjoyed it as much (maybe more) than my daughter. This book and "How the Rhinoceros Got His Skin" sold us on Rabbit Ears audiobooks - we now have about a dozen. Get the full size so the child can follow the text easier and you can both enjoy the illustrations.

Over 450 recipes for classic Irish cooking

Review Date: 2001-12-10
Maura Laverty's Full & Plenty 2: Fish & Meat is a traditional Irish cookbook presenting over 450 recipes for classic Irish soups, fish, vegetables, meat, poultry, game, leftovers and sauces. All recipes have been kitchen-tested to ensure mouth-watering results. In addition to the recipes, Full & Plenty 2 also features numerous cooking tips and techniques, from the five classifications of soup to how to preserve beans, to an anecdotal story that illustrates the proper function of a sauce. From Steak and Kidney Pudding; Pork Pie; and Potato Soup; to Cornish Pastries; Kidney Stew; and Liver in Cider, Full & Plenty 2 is highly enjoyable not only as a source for preparing unique menus for delicious dinners, but also as wry armchair reading for those who enjoy to peruse cookbooks with a little extra zest for digression.
