This is a really great little story. Incredibly funny in an "it's-all-too-true" sort of way. I love reading it aloud to my 3 and 5 year old with acted out voices for the characters, like a fearful Clyde, a sneering Jefferson, a soft-hearted Mom, a clueless Dad, and lunch ladies that sound like Marge's sisters on the Simpsons. We get this from the library (sorry, Amazon) constantly. We also like Science Fair Bunnies, and the next time we are in the U.S. I will try to get the rest of the "...Bunnies".

Wonderful Book!

My girls, aged 2 and 5, LOVE this book! They hang on every word (even though I modify words like 'hate' in referring to food running together on a plate.) I read it to them at least once a day. I like Clyde's sibling dynamics, making friends at school and overcoming fear. It is a great story about not worrying what COULD go wrong but, rather, to approach each new experience with bravery.

enticing and lovable story for getting ready to start school

The story is about a little bunny that is worried about carrying his full lunch tray across the cafeteria on the first day of school. It is very true-to-life when it comes to dealing with siblings and friend sort of OVER-warning you. My 4 year old loves the way the lunch ladies are described. It also is a story about friendship and helping others. I recommend this book to everyone, especially those about to start REAL school.

Excellent for kids going from kindergarten to 1st grade!

I absolutely adore books like this because they take a lighthearted, yet sensitive look at concerns that are very real in the minds of small children as they enter school.

Lunch Bunnies is the story of a little boy named Clyde who harbors an irrational fear of making a fool out of himself on his first day of school, in the lunchroom. Anyone with small children can instantly relate how Clyde becomes obsessive with doing the lunchroom thing right!

The night before his first day at a new school, Clyde is seen "practicing" by carrying a tray of food. Of course there is a big brother present (Jefferson)who does his best to plant seeds of doubt in Clyde's mind and delights in tormenting the poor lad with stories of inedible food ("Mystery Goosh), and the ubiquitous lunch ladies with "bristly" faces who have all of the charm and caring of a Third World Dictator. Poor Clyde is scared to death!

My favorite part of the book was when it was time for the children to queue up, and proceed into the lunchroom. As a teacher of small children myself, I can't help but wonder if the author is not poking gentle fun at the anality of the lunchroom ritual, where children must quietly, in monk-like manner, line up and process orderly, much as inmates are required to in correctional centers.

Nevertheless, this book was a hit with my 10 year old daughter when she first started school, and it is a hit with my son, who will start first grade this fall. All children, and even some of us adults, have irrational fears that we blow way out of proportion. But the message of Lunch Bunnies, a message adults would do well to heed, is that nothing is as bad as we imagine it, and things always seem to work out just fine.

Names for Snow is a beautiful book to remind us elders of the wonders of the first snow of the season and those to follow. I bought this book for myself and now I'm buying one for my grand-daughter, so she, too, will have the fun of naming her snows. Thanks to Judi Beach for her wonderful poetry and to Loretta Krupinski for her beautiful illustrations.

When snow becomes a magician or a trickster, a family member or prayer, you have entered the metaphorical world of Judi K. Beach. A wonderful template for a winter "game" when snow keeps you and the kids housebound. Ask them, "What would you call this snow?" and hold onto your pens when they answer! Wonderful illustrations by Krupinski keep the very young interested.

I hate snow, but I love this little book. I love the cat
sitting in the window sill, I love the barnyard scenes, the
geese in the corn, the fire in the fireplace, the moon glistening,
the snowman, the sled on the porch, the scarecrow in the field, and the bunnies having fun outdoors in
the snow and inside in the cozy warm house. It reminds me so
much of my own youth on the farm. My granddaughter loves it too.
We read it nearly every day.

A thoroughly joyful celebration of winter season wonder

Beautifully illustrated with the artwork of Loretta Krupinski, Names For Snow is a delightful picture book inspired by Inuit culture, as well as author Judi Beach's fond and personal childhood memories. Inuit Native Americans spend so much of their lives in winter that it is said they have over fifty names for snow. In Names For Snow, a mother rabbit shows her child the many names and sides of this wintry phenomenon, from Harmonica when it whistles through the trees, to Kitten when it sleeps in the crook of a window, to Trickster when it appears on April first, and more. Names For Snow is commended for young readers as being a thoroughly joyful celebration of winter season wonder.

Robin Williams does a great job of storytelling. This is truely whole family entertainment. Kids will definately sit still for this one, and adults will find it wonderfully funny. Robin Williams infuses the reading with his tremendous energy, wit, and love of adventure. The illustrations in the book are humorous and kids will laugh when they see them. Adults should be aware that there is one picture where Pecos Bill is nude, but it is not full nudity and it is only one picture. All in all I think this, like all Rabbit Ears Productions, is wonderful. I would especially recommend it for anybody who is looking for a great way to keep the kids entertained while they are in the car.

The photo and barcode for this video are actually for a
RARE CBS PLAYHOUSE presentation from 1988 starring
STEVE GUTTENBERG and my very favorite actress, the beautiful
and very talented REBECCA DE MORNAY; Roy Rogers & Co. are
great, but they had NOTHING AT ALL to do with this video:

so, whoever it was at AMAZON.COM who put these details in
this listing are simply mistaken: this is a great, rare
OOP VIDEO, but as of this writing, the details are wrong:

this one features MARTIN MULL, STEVE GUTTENBERG, AND my favorite actress REBECCA DE MORNAY ( see her in CANNON TALES
BEAUTY & THE BEAST, RUNAWAY TRAIN, BY THE DAWNS EARLY LIGHT
and her most famous performance as the evil nanny in
THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE -- thats what I just love
about Ms. De Mornay: you never know what you're going to
get: she has such a fantastic range & versatility: she can
be the most wonderful heroine you would just die for, or
the most vicious, cold-blooded villian you want to kill!!
Terrific Actress, at this time, in my opinion, there is no
better Actress in Hollywood!!

Obviously, each baby has their own likes. This book is my baby's favorite. He is almost 9 months old now. He will grab our hands, walk over to where his books are and find this book. I am now trying to get the other Pop-ups by Ms. Tagel.

We started reading to him at 2 months old. He loves to read already. I would never have believed it. It calms him more than any toy. I would highly recommend reading books like this to your babies!

Our child is 18 months old and was given this book 5 months ago. We value the importance of introducing her to books and reading to her. She has approximately 30-40 books in both English and French. She is constantly looking at her books and brings them to us to read to her. This has been one of her favorites. The pop-up colorful figures and rhymes that have a musical character enchant her. Although she has now torn off a couple of the pop-up characters, this book has certainly been worth its price. We are ordering another.

This is really a "pop-up" book. No pull tabs, no textures to feel. The bunnies that pop up on each page encourage even the youngest "reader" to pay attention. The pictures are colorful, the text is rythmical and rhyming. I look forward to reading it with my baby.

This book is so wonderful - full of fun sounds, endearing characters, and a spooooky rock. Children love this - my copy is beat to a pulp, but I still pull it out for all the toddlers in my life virtually *all* of whom insist on hearing "Gruummch!" over and over. Scary Rock has never failed me. This book was such a delight to me at the age of 2 (in 1967) that I memorized the entire book including page turn cues and read it to my parents every night. Eat that, Goosebumps!

If you are the generation that did not suffer the turmoil of the 70's , the MTV phenomenon , or the mindless info-toon, you are the people who remember the Weekly Reader Book Club. I find myself reviewing a book I haven't seen or read for almost 40 years. What an impact this little book must have had. Give it a chance in the life of your six year old. This book reminds me of Tolstoy's "War and Peace" and Orson Welles' "Citizen Kane" in that it's huge, kind of messy, and unconventional as all hell --- but a Great work of Art. I don't know what makes it so genius, exactly, but it is just simply awesome.

Yeah, this is the one! Well, at least one of the TOP FIVE BOOKS read this year by me! Honestly, you'll get plenty of honesty in this hear piece of fict'n... purnhaps even mor'n you already know, heh? Wonderfully written, and like Kerouac used to say, it's an "Indian thing". The story follows the natural flow of generations of Washo people try to eek out a meagre existance in the "wild" west; beautifully documenting the collapse of the many layers of native culture since their "discovery".

I found Rabbit Boss as an impressionable 16 year old, living in a small town in the English Midlands in the mid-1970s. It's hard to say quite why it made such an unforgettable impression on me, but suffice to say that I logged on to this site to try and find THIS book - I have been searching for years. Now I find it is regarded as a canon of American fiction - and rightly so. Sanchez's brilliant evocation of a state of mind, and of a whole way of being, was entirely new to me and has haunted me ever since. The quality of the writing is simply stupendous.

This is an unforgettable book.

This novel put the author's name on my must-read list. It is a powerful story of the effect of white culture on the native American. Starting with an encounter with the Donner party, it continues down to the early 30's. Parts of the novel are written in a visionary style similar to "Black Elk Speaks." There are numerous memorable characters, especially Hallelujah Bob and Captain Rex, who loses his thumbs. There is violence and tragedy. Sanchez has an excellent ear for dialogue, especially considering that this book was written when he was only 21. I have read this book three times (at over 500 pages) and recommend it to all my friends.

I have a very picky eater and will do anything to pique his interest in different foods. This clever story is so charming that even a picky eater will want some "Rabbit Stew." The children and I love this story and always refer to how skilful the rabbits are in getting themselves out of a sticky situation while enjoying some laughs and yummy "Rabbit Stew." We also like to make a big deal of shopping for ingredients for our "Rabbit Stew" while at the grocery store. I applaud the illustrators ability in capturing the animals personalities.

My (nearly) three-year-old and my (nearly) seven-year-old keep requesting this book again and again. The story is funny yet mild. In some of the illustrations the rabbits are nearly hidden so it's almost a game to find the rabbits. It also makes a statement about thinking someone else isn't very clever.

This book is a good book for young readers. It is an easy reader with a good amount of text. This book will show children that material objects aren't as fun and loving as a good friend who cares about you. This book will change the way you think about how important your friends and family are.

This book is about a rabbit who got a new rug. His rug was the most beutiful rug that he had seen before. So rabbit decided to call up all of his friends to come over to see his new rug. But when they got there he wouldn't let anyone step on it so they had to stand against the wall. Everyone got tired of standing so they all left. So then for days rabbit would just stay at home and clean his rug. Soon rabbit realized that a rug isn't a friend and found out that he wasn't having any fun at all. So he decided to have a party with all of his friends.

Rabbit's New Rug by Judy Delton has lots of bright colors, and makes the book more appealing to children. With some words that the children might not know, it will make a great learning tool if parents read along with their children. Rabbit, an inhabitant of a forest, has just gotten a flower rug for his house. Rabbit is proud of his new rug, and invites his friends Fox and Owl to come and take a look at it. When they come over, Rabbit does not want his friends to step on his rug, or enjoy his gifts his friends had brought him in celebration. Later, another friend, Raccoon, comes and joins them and he loves Rabbit's new rug. The friends do not have that much fun admiring it, and so they leave. In a week, after Rabbit becomes bored and lonely, he invites his friends to a party on his new rug. Then they have the time of their lives. Morale of the story: Value friendship over nice things.

A cute story, bright pictures, and a great morale at the end, Rabbit's New Rug is a fabulous addition to a child's books.
