This story was written with great feeling for children. A delicate balance between excitement and disaster. The illusrations they were excellent.

I highly recomment this tape. I have listened to it several times and each time I get something new from the lecture. Lots of good ideas.

Another great Heathcliff book by George Gately. You'll have a laugh a minute as Heathcliff tangles with the milkman, the fish store owner, the tuna fisherman and just about everyone else he runs into.If you're looking for some fun, look no further, Heathcliff is here!

Hector and Prudence(large, pink pigs)relocate from a field to a "new home" just in time for six new additions to the family. Any parent will empathize as well as chuckle at the implied reality of the escapades of this greatly expanded family!

Not only do I enjoy reading this story to my grandchildren but it brings me so much pleasure also. The dialogue between the characters and the author's ability to take you into their burrows and natural habitat is a joy. The gentleness of the grandfather and the setting of the countryside and the farm area clearly show the author has brought fond memories from her childhood into adulthood which she so readily shares with us. The illustrations enhance the already vivid word picutes the author has already painted for us. The introduction of Hedley to us from her first book and the continuation of his adventures through her imagination makes this book by Valerie Walker one I not only keep on my own shelf but also keep copies on my grandchildren's shelf to read over and over.

I first saw this book at our library and decided to take it home. We've had it for two and one half weeks and now it is a must for our library. My son loves the finger games that are played while reading this book. Even when he is cranky around bed time he musters up a huge smile and wants to finsh reading the book.

I recommend it as an interactive book that will provide you with many giggles.

This is a wonderful title fulfilling many criteria and it is an excellent title to use with small children as it is a rhyme that children learn and become familiar with. It is also used in counting and time activities at school. The story is simple yet entertaning with lots of chances for children to participate and even play the part of the Mouse by using the fingerpuppet. Brilliant!

Patients and their families who are currently going through the involved process of liver transplant--and those who may eventually be headed in that direction--need to read this.

At first glance, Hobart would appear to be just another pig of Farmer Mills. Indeed, Hobart would appear to be no different than his brothers, Byron and Wilfred, or his sister, Violet. But Hobart is like no other pig. He has dreams and aspirations that regular pigs could not begin to imagine.

Other animals on the farm try to vex Hobart's spirit by telling him he will be made into bacon and eaten. But this does not deter Hobart's big dream of becoming a tap dancer. Hobart soon learns, however, that Farmer Mills plans on selling him to the local butcher. Fearing for their lives, Hobart and his siblings come up with a plan to both escape the local butcher and convince Farmer Mills that the pigs have talent and should be allowed to live.

A wonderful flight into fantasy, "Hobart" will remind many readers of Dick King-Smith's "Babe, The Gallant Pig." However, Hobart's winning attitude and Briggs' writing style keeps the story fresh and limits comparisons with the other swine. Mary Rayner's illustrations help keep the story moving and add an extra dimension to the story. Though targeted for four to eight year olds, "Hobart" is recommended for children of all ages.

My 5 year old just started kindergarten and really wants to read. She was able to read most of this simple book herself on the first try. I plan to buy more of the Step into Reading books based on our experience with this one. The illustrations are colorful and fun; there isn't too much of a story line, but for learning to read, this book was great.
