Great Book, definitely worth reading

This book detailed what actually happened during the Bay of Pigs incident. The author is one of the two CIA agents with the troop into Cuba. The writing is clear and chronical, and very esay to follow. While reading it, the disaster is apparent in the making, mainly due to the personal characters of the people involved. Major lesson from the book is that the half-hearted approach would never work, and would actually incur more risks than facing the reality. Again, the book also shows the impotance of principle management. The decision maker, in this case JFK as the President of USA, has to be responsible for the results he approves. Trying to look good and hoping for a lucky break would not work, especially not for the President of the United States. A really sad, but true, story!

I saw this play before i read it. It is an intense view in to the lives of two characters, pig and runt. Both have just had their 17th birthday, and are determined to celebrate. We follow them on 2 nights out in cork in Ireland, they drink and fight, and yet communacate in their own made up language, like children. They are both endearingly naive, and at the same time appalingly violent. By the end of the play i was left feeling utterly washed out, i wanted to care for the characters, i did care for them, but felt utterly revulsed by what i had seen. Enda walsh avoids all the stereotypes that could run rampant in this type of scenario, and portrays a glimpse into the lives of two characters who seem both real, and absurdly exagerated. When reading the play one should bear in mind the extremely physical nature of the performance that the 2 actors depicted on the cover gave, like children playing the reenact their births, and the fights they get into extremely vividly, sexual tension oozes of the page, and i was left with enthralled and repelled by the characters. read it now, see it if you can.

Mickey's Alphabet Soup

ISBN 1885222769 - Every opportunity to introduce a child to a book is a good thing - doing it with old friends like Disney and Mickey Mouse is just a little bit nicer. I've always been fond of Disney's sets of books and if this title is an indication of what the rest of the series has in store, buy them all!

Mickey and Minnie plan to enter an alphabet soup contest. The rules? The first ingredient starts with A, the last starts with Z and the rest of the alphabet in between. Oh, and be at the park at 2:30! Goofy, excited about the contest, wants to enter too and makes his own soup. While Mickey and Minnie use food items, Goofy uses pretty much anything that fits the letter he needs. Of course, Mickey and Minnie's soup is more edible... but Goofy's is more fun! Goofy - and only Goofy - would put a jack-in-the-box, jacks and a jump rope in his soup.

The first in this 18 book series (Read and Grow Library) from Disney, this is a large hardcover book and the beautiful, bright and colorful illustrations take up a majority of each page - kids will love them and you'll both enjoy the sometimes tongue-twisting tale of Mickey's Alphabet Soup. Best of all, they'll learn the alphabet almost without realizing it!

The wonderful world of Jeremy James

I think that this book is an excellent story describing many of Jeremy James' adventures from his point of view. this way of writing allows many funny comments on Jeremy's outlook on life. Reading this book will be a wonderful experience for you and your children. I nag my mom over and over again to read me more of these hilarous stories. My mom obliges with joy because she likes the stories almost as much as I do. Even my friends enjoy the comical antics of Jeremy James. This book is a must have for any fun loving family.

My son's current favorite

I know others have commented on the hyperbole of the endings in this series possibly being a poor message for youngsters but I wonder if these same people don't read any fairy tales? In this one, the bad kid doesn't die but does have to live with pigs because he is so greedy. As a teacher, I was original drawn to these books because of the reading methodology is sound with the repetition of common onset, rime patterns (vowel/consonant blends). My son is the biggest fan because of the catchy rhymes. I really like the art and drawing style with the hip clothes and it is a lesson that I want my son to learn. I do wish it treated "greedy" as bigger than just food.

My favorite baby book

This is my favorite board book to read to my 9-month-old. Unlike with others, I never get sick of reading this one-- it's fun to read and not too repetitive or cloying. Amusing sounds and dialogue to act out. And the pictures are very cute and colorful. My book is shaped different from the one shown in the picture, though-- it's shaped like Posy's head and the cover has no mention of the author or illustrator (for shame! I had to turn to the back cover to read the copyright note to figure out who wrote and illustrated it).

It also happens to be the one book I can read through without my daughter getting distracted and trying to eat the pages. ;) And every time we get to the "Oomph!," she cracks up.

We have been blessed with a beautiful little boy who loves books. His first and favorite book is the english version of Where is Maisy's Panda. He loves looking in the washer, under the sink, in the toilette, and in the toybox for Panda and is always excited to find him "Snuggled up with Maisy." He now gets excited when this story is read to him in spanish. We're looking forward to purchasing the other spanish versions of Lucy Cousins books. It is a perfect way to introduce a second language to babies.

Babies Learn Spanish

My ten-month old twins love all the Maisy books. With this favorite in Spanish, the boys can enjoy Maisy with their babysitter. The words are simple that even my husband (who knows NO Spanish) can read it. The pictures are bright and colorful so the babies are captivated with the search for Maisy. They love lifting the flaps and pointing at the bold pictures. We can't wait to hear their first words in Spanish!

My 2 1/2 year old thoroughly enjoys books, and loves to take an active part in stories. This book provides an intriguing nature mystery that invites the reader/listener to join two little mice detectives in figuring out the origins of an oak tree. We look forward to solving more mysteries with Dot and Jabber!
