A few years ago I checked out from the Public Library "Growing African Violets and some other flowering houseplants", by Ruth Coulson. It was like finding a good friend or neighbor.

This book has the most practical advice and so very well written, I have been searching for it ever since. Its a great reference book and is so well laid out you can pick it up and find the area you are particularly interested in with wonderful advice. Not only was it well written and organized, what she writes really works.

I have been searching for the book ever since. As it was published in Australia in 1986, it has been very difficult to find. Thank you to Amazon, and my friend Jane who told me about Amazon.

To all of those folks out there that would like to grow African Violets and think they are hard, get this book. Violets are really very easy and Ms. Coulson helps you right over that hurdle.

Accesible books about Proteaceae are very rare. The author puts clear, in a very readable style that every gardener will understand, all the basics of Protea cultivation. The book not only covers Protea, but also other members of the family, as Leucadendron and Leucospermum. Planting, pruning, propagation, pests and diseases, cultivation for cut flowers... plus many colour photographs depicting some of the most interesting members of the family...

This is an excellent reference for the hobbyist and professional alike.
It is slanted towards Australia conditions and species / hybrids readily available there, however the wealth of information contained within can be applied to all areas where these plants can be grown.
Colour illustrations are good with black and white line drawings accompanying descriptions.
Lists of species and Hybrids are well laid out, descriptive and very informative.
All-in-all a highly recommended reference for any rhododendron grower.

Well dressed kangaroos, random breath testing units and of course crocodiles in the sewers all have one very important thing in common...all those stories which supposedly happened are here in this book. Modern fables for adults. Humorous.

This is one of those books that 99% of people will find an interesting read, and the other 1% will be overjoyed that it was published. I fall into the latter category. Being an avid follower of the Australian forces in France during WWI, I am always on the lookout for books on the subject. This is one of the few books I've read that takes the historic facts of the war, and incorporates them into a practical tour of the battlefields. The tales of war are extremely well researched and presented, maps and photos add much to the text, and nice touches such as a chapter describing the inscriptions on Australian war graves are very moving. Even if you are not specifically interested in Australian movements during the war, this book has alot of interesting information. If you are planning to visit the battlefields of France, DO NOT LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THIS BOOK!

Blue Kangaroo it's the best children book. My daughters love this story and it's inteligent and beautiful.

This is one of the most informative and complete texts on millinery techniques I have managed to locate to date. It covers everything from pattern making, blocked hats, wire frames, draping, bridal, flower making, etc, etc, etc. This is porbably the single most useful book in my collection.
