In its 128 pages, it includes all the information concisely, as well
as beautiful pictures showing this great cat in the wild.
Although I wish there were a few more, what's there is admirable
and of high quality. Knowing the author, you can also read it assured that the information is true and accurate. I, without
a doubt, recommend this book to anyone who wishes to learn more about these majestic creatures. Even veterans on the subject
will undoubtly find this book beneficial.

A textbook, with pluses and minusesReview Date: 2006-09-30
It is, in general, a hard book for students. I don't mean hard in terms of the materials. It is well-written, and rather easy to read. It is hard to use to study for tests. I tell students that it compliments the lectures, and doesn't repeat them. Students tend to complain that it has too many examples, so the "themes" that they are tested on are difficult to find.
I still find it the best text for my purposes for a general course with primarily non-natural resource students. I like it for its price as well.

The only real limitation of this book is beyond the authors' control, since Canada finally passed its first Species at Risk Act only after the book was published. This Act is weaker than its US counterpart, though some provisions learn from experiences south of the border. It would be good to have a revised version of this book looking at Canadian experience since passage of this Act.
The book lacks any theoretical or analytical framework but the authors provide good, analytical chapters nonetheless. This is the place to start if you want to learn about Canadian protection of endangered species.
