Farming Books

I confess that I purchased this book in error, thinking it was something to do with the Norwegian tobacco industry (a market that I had assumed was untapped, and at that time my "next big thing"). It's not hard to see, though, that our mistakes can be every bit as rewarding as our intentions.

Such was the case with this little book. Edwards's magnum opus compares favourably with its rivals that focus too much on the salmon end of things, without ever addressing the needs of the trout farmer (of whom I know many). In particular, food and allocation of space (more realistically, water) are addressed, and so, too, is the correct spelling of the words "fjord" and "gravadlax".

The title SAVE THREE LIVES comes from the idea that if this book only saves three lives, it was worth the effort to write.

I am grateful to Mr. Rodale for writing this book. It woke me up to some serious problems with the way we give aid to Third World countries. And he provides simple solutions that, if implemented, really will save many lives.

Gregory (University of Reading), Science And The Garden: The Scientific Basis Of Horticultural Practice is an advanced resource of chemical, biological, and highly practical information about how science can directly affect one's garden. Individual chapters deal with the full range of relative issues including soil fertility, taxonomy, seasons and weather, the scientific repercussions of gardening in a greenhouse environment, and more. Familiarity with basic chemistry and other branches of agriculture-related science is very helpful, but not absolutely required for the non-specialist general reader to get the most out of Science And The Garden, one of the most educational and informative introductions to horticultural practices available today.

I bought this book as a for an animal science class. It is very informative and I find myself reading it just out of enjoyment.

The collaborative project of Tony and June Burns, Scroll Saw Farm Puzzles presents and showcases twenty-six easy-to-cut, do-it-yourself patterns for crafted, three-dimensional, large wooden jigsaw puzzles featuring an American barnyard scene. The pieces put together a farmer and his wife, various animals including pigs, cows, sheep, and lambs, a tractor, an outhouse, a barn and much more. Each individual project is cut from common wood, and is composed of 3 or 4 pieces with interlocking cuts. A delightful woodworking project, with instructions for getting started and tips and techniques for staining and painting the puzzles, Scroll Saw Farm Puzzles is a terrific addition to any weekend woodworker's project reference shelf.

Every black person in America, who has family roots traceable to the South, would be well served to see their roots from an incredibly enlightening paradigm. ROOTS has a new meaning...found in this great book.

Thanks to Nick Begich this book is still available. Everyone on the planet should read it! Contained within this book are answers to so many problems in our world that most people aren't aware of! It is part of my Library and I refer to it quite often. I have handed out numerous copies!

I have read this book twice in the last two weeks. There is a wealth of information that has been pulled from the dawn of time. It is interesting, thrilling, and captures the true essence of this subject. It is, without doubt, one of the most well-written books that I have read. Priestley has a witty, unique style that shows his interest in the subject and he has renewed my enthusiasm and drive to work in this area. It is a truly wonderful book.
