I thought I knew everything on this topic, but this book opened my eyes to a terrifying new area of the field.....

Review Date: 2000-03-29
Electron transfer, a fundamental chemical process underlying all redox reactions, has been explained in detail, experimentally and theoretically.i have to say that it is an excellent book concerning quantum electrochemistry and quantum biology based on fundamental physics. After i have reviewed this book i wish i could be a electron, as a graduate student majoring electrochemistry.

And i wish i had cherished one, too.

Chemistry Imagined
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 1998-09-19
Roald Hoffmann's "Chemistry Imagined" is not only a fascinating book about chemistry: it is also about live, society, history, art, creative thinking. Through several small tales, Hoffmann show to the readers an insightful view of how chemistry is the central science, its contributions to actual society life style, its importance in economy and live and, maybe the most important concept, its strong relationship with art. In some way, the creative process for science is the same that for art. The excellents illustrations made by Vivian Torrence, are the best landscape where the readers can "imagine the chemistry" behind the words of Hoffmann. A must for all the people with an interest in chemistry or science (or, as I said, art).

Excellent text for Chemistry students w/o the math!!!!
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1997-01-22
ChemCom is an excellent option for the high school chemistry teacher looking to build a larger base of students. With its "hands-on" approach to learning chemistry, more students (including those deficient in higher mathematics) can discover the "chemical" world around them. Through ChemCom's "real-life" examples and problems, all students can discover the 'ins' and 'outs' of chemistry

It is somewhat difficult to understand this book at the first time. However, higher researcher will be satisfied with this incisive and clear explantion of classical analytical chemistry. Although this book was written about 40 years ago(for 1st edition), still it shows brilliant idea for the real experiment.

The Best

This is the definitive work on that time period. I've done some research in the area and taught courses on it and Rocke's book taught me more than I've ever learned. It seems he's read not just every published work from the period, but also the private correspondence of the principals. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear he interviewed them or even read their minds. Maybe he held a séance or something. Seriously, if you want to know 19th-century chemistry, buy this.
