This work does a pretty good job of spanning both theory and practical concepts. After an introduction it gives an overview of piezoelectric theory that is covered in more (but still insufficient) detail in Colin Campbell's book, "Surface Acoustic Wave Devices". The central part of the book discusses thickness shear mode, SAW, acoustic plate mode, and flexural plate mode sensors. The remainder of the book discusses coatings and other practical issues involving actual fabrication and use of acoustic wave sensors. The book gives lots of references from appropriate literature. It does present many equations from that literature that are given without derivation. In some respects these equations are only approximate, and it is left to the reader to discover both the physical derivation and the limitations of the equations. In fairness to the authors, the subject area is vast, and any reasonably sized book will have limitations. Overall, it is the best book on the subject, being slightly more thorough than Thompson and Stone's "Surface-Launched Acoustic Wave Sensors."

I'm a science copyeditor, and I truly don't know how I'd manage without this book. If it has to do with chemistry, it's here (thank heaven!). And there's a wealth of clear information about how to format math, a wonderful list of unit abbreviations, and even a fair amount about physics- and biology-related terminology. It has the most lucid and concise explanations I've seen about when to apply italics or roman. And it's reasonably priced. Of course, if you specifically need to follow ACS style, this book is de rigeur, but even if you don't, you'll find it invaluable for science copyediting.

This book was very well written. It is good for anyone to read who is interested in learning more about addiction. The author takes an approach on addiction and sheds a whole new light on the disease. There are great illustrations. This could be a great book for any addict or for anyone that knows and addict. It has made me understand addiction with a new view on the disease state. I recommend this to everyone. It will be money well spent!!

However, future to understand the occurence of 365 in
the discussion of Einstein spectrochemistry, in a 1970 edition
of Nash's Classical and Statistical Chemical Thermodynamics,
Addison-Wesley... I, not yet understanding the context of
365, towards the end of the statiscal volume 2, in this
combined two volume in one edition, with 2 indexes, and
accordingly, by the author's own statement, the statistical
mechanics more understandable than the volume one, classical
thermodynamics.

I am not familiar with the amazon.com version, except to say
that some reticent society of academic publishers some
how give a reference to some formal diurnal understanding,
that the inductive understanding of science is a religious
tasking.

This is an essential aid to anyone who sees teenagers in their practice. The authors have produced a consistent, easily read style. The book is relatively small (portable!) with up to date information and very useful tables -- to the point and accurate. The recommendations are pragmatic; some summaries such as in Sports Medicine (ch 28) could be given directly to a teen and reviewed with them. Chapters are short, yet comprehensive. Medications and drug charts are easy to read & find. This is a real bargain for the busy practitioner.

This book covers in detail all the areas of equilibria and kinetics of the adsorption processes and can be useful both for the engineers and scientists as well as for the undergraduate student. The software included can be used for the the analysis of the processes and for teaching/illustration purposes. Particularly interesting, is part III of the book that covers measurement techniques. The only surprise in this excellent book is the omission of the area of Driving Force Approximations where the author of the book has been actively engaged for many years.

Simplifide book,contain the most important fact of spectroscopy

This is a great book. Another great publication from Geddes. I follow the work from the Geddes labs even though it is not my area of expertise. Outstanding concept of MEF. I do raise the question of why Geddes always launches new books with Lakowicz as this must hinder the sales and not promote them. Well done Geddes loose that hanger on.
