This wonderful little book is one of a series. They are written by different authors and each one is a different element subject.

They each are easy to read but a treasure trove of information that you will refer to again and again. The chapters are; the glory of light, sacred light, light cycles and life cycles, the nature of light, the power of sunlight and healing with light.

The bibliography is extensive and there is a references and resources chapter also. In the chapter of light cycles and life cycles it explains the effect the cycles of the moon have on the earth and human bodies;

The moon is full when it is on the side of the Earth farther from the Sun. At that time the Moon comes closest to Earth, drawn inwards by the Earth's gravitational force. In turn, the Moon exerts an influence on the ionosphere, pushing the delicate mantle slightly out of its encircling hand around the Earth's atmosphere, and towards the Earth's surface. The ionosphere, as its name implies, is a layer of charged air and particles that envelops the Earth 120 km or so up. the underside of the ionosphere is positively charged. the ionosphere's positive ions mix with those ions near the negatively charged Earth's surface. The mix of the two is thereby altered, becoming more positive. We breathe in the changed mixture, which enters our bloodstream. This physical change now has a physiological effect. Our blood cells are normally negatively charged, as are the walls of our arteries and veins, ensuring an easy flow as the similar charges repel each other. But when the mix turns more positive as a result of the Moon, the blood becomes "stickier", leading to poorer oxygenation and a resulting increase in psychological stress. At the time , the white blood cells, which are highly sensitive to electric charges, are also adversely affected. These positive ions also cause an overproduction of serotonin, a stress neuro-hormone and the opposing sister-molecule to melatonin, inhibiting one's ability to sleep. At the time of the new Moon, when the Moon is nearest the Sun, the ionosphere expands, lowering the number of positive ions at the Earth's surface. This encourages plant growth and improves circulation and vigor in animals.

These books are great.

This inspiring work explores both the physical and metaphysical properties of light and how to use light to improve one's emotional, physical and spiritual well-being.

Part One: The Glory Of Light, investigates sacred and spiritual light, the light of salvation, light in mythology and symbols of light. Part Two looks at light and life cycles, the daily rhythms of light, biorhythms, the pineal gland and the hormone melatonin.

Part Three: The Nature Of Light, deals with waves and particles, electrons, electromagnetism and rainbows, whilst Part Four: Healing With Light, explores syntotics, bioresonance, auras and light therapy, the power of infrared and photodynamic therapies.

Beautiful color photographs and illustrations enhance the text and the book concludes with a bibliography and a list of resources.

This is a beautifully illustrated and highly informative book.

The discovery of biophotons - the production and emission of light by biological systems - first by the Russian embryologist Alexander Gurwitsch in 1920, and more recently the work of Fritz-Albert Popp, have given more credence to the importance of light to the organism. Not just in terms of promoting photosynthesis or the Vitamin D cascade in the body, but perhaps as a fundemental organizing force. Unfortunately some of the fundamental science has been highjacked by some folk who believe that biophotons are another name for Qi or prana. Something that the scientists have never said.

Yet biophotons do seem to be a real phenomenon and some empirical work indicates that they are biologically important and provide a theoretical basis for much of the material presented in this book, which covers the whole spectrum of light and its healing effects.

It begins with a consideration of sacred light and moves to a discussion of light and life cycles, the whole science of light, the power of sunlight and finally various techniques for healing with light. There is little research evidence to back up the healing claims, but a great deal of experience garnered by practitioners.

Having watched the development of the field over the last couple of decades, and having tried some of the light-based therapies, I think it likely that light will soon become an important part of our therapeutic toolbox.

This is a handsome and thought-provoking book that will appeal to a many people, and certainly not just therapists.

Bill Holm again speaks softly, and humorously. As a sixteen year old whose first wish is to get out of rural Minnesota it is surprisingly nonthreatening. The only disappointing thing about this book is the omission of the author's poem, "Openings,"

Bill Holm writes very movingly about his parents, ancestors, and the people of the town of Minneota. It made me all the more interested in my own family's history. He writes with humor, understanding and compassion. He doesn't dwell too long on sentimentality; indeed, he warns us against it. He strives to show the character and (dare I say it?) soul of some of the notable people he knew in his youth. He has provided us with a wonderful book of essays.

This book about people in small places opened my heart.

Bill Holm has a gift with words and brings to life people long dead who had a strong impact on his life. As he opens up his past life, the reader's is also opened. Perhaps it was growing up in a small midwestern town that caused this book to strike a deep chord in me. However,I think it is his ability to bring out the gifts he was given by members of the community that helps all of us see similiar gifts in life.

A Sane Corrective for Christians Living in the World

Dr. Wittmer does modern Christians a great service in Heaven is a Place on Earth. Too long our view of how we should engage in the world has been skewed by non-biblical concepts and paradigms. His balanced approach to living in the world (and enjoying it!) is a welcome relief from years of confusion caused by well-meaning but misguided pastors and authors. His wit and voice make this book a joy to read and the notes, discussion questions, and case studies in the back make it a perfect text for small groups, Sunday school, and personal enrichment.

Many thanks to Dr. Wittmer who encourages all of us to enjoy life, creation, and other people in the way that God intends for them to be enjoyed. (I always suspected that God might want us to be happy.) A liberating and positive text that deserved heavier cover stock from the publisher. Highly recommended!

Dr. Wittmer's book was a wonderful read. Not only was he witty (I found myself chuckling and reading out loud to my wife), but he delves into some deep philosophical and theological waters without confusing the reader. Dr. Wittmer understands these complex issues so well he is able to bring these down to a very understandable level for the average person. I have taught Worldview classes to both college and high school students and have struggled to find a text that introduces these complex topics in a creative and clear way. In Heaven is a Place on Earth, I have now found the best text I have seen for introducing people to the relevant topics of Christian Worldview.
Dr. Wittmer discusses why humans exist, where we are going to end up, and how we get there following the Creation, Fall, Redemption model of Scripture. He steers the reader away from the current gnostic cult in our contemporary culture which implies that anything physical is bad (and so we must baptize articles with Christian symbols) and that a Christian's goal is to leave this earth (see Revelation 21). Instead, he remains faithful to the biblical texts and demonstrates how God truly is Immanuel (God with us).
All in all, I believe this book is a necessity for anyone wanting to form a balanced and informed Christian Worldview.

This book is my favourit! I have it now for 5 years and everytime I read it I see some new things! It's quite accurate and funny. My visitors have all seen it and laughed hard about the astrological profile of their partners, mothers in law, boss, neighbour or who ever! In Holland it is also published but they are not in stock anymore, so I am more carefull with mine then I already was !!

This truly is an excellent conversation piece, even for the metaphysically faint of heart! The illustrations are exquisite and witty. It's light hearted and amusing but it's definitely for adults -- some slightly risqué details hidden in the drawings and words even "adroit" english professors will have to look up. A reward for both sides of the brain. My guests sit and pour over it laughing amazed at the accuacy. It's fabulous!

The interactive nature of the book make it a fun, worthwhile investment. I've had mine for years and still use it. Excellent coffe table book material!

Release the Power within You to Change the World

Alan Vincent challenges his readers to step out of Christian fatalism into the power and authority given to all children of God. "Heaven on Earth" is a powerful, authoritative call to believers to advance the Kingdom of God through reaping a great end-time harvest of souls.

Vincent reminds the reader: "I am not teaching theory. I am teaching what I myself have experienced...I am not talking in forlorn hope but in spiritual fact." Jesus came as the new beginning of the Kingdom of God and came to demonstrate the Kingdom.

Vincent develops the scriptural teaching of Kingdom living as demonstrated in New Testament days from the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. He accentuates of power of the Kingdom as found in the Gospels and in Acts, and as taught by Jesus in the parables.

The chapter on the Kingdom in Acts was especially challenging for me. Vincent highlighted being clothed with power from on high and being witnesses to the ends of the earth. I was confronted with the importance of obedience, authority, and being ready for conflict.

Vincent's writing is revelatory, authoritative, and offers the reader a life changing challenge to think outside of the box and release the power of the spirit within to see change in the world today.

I was recently recommended this book by a friend. It a very scary thought someone was put to such a test. I don't know if it was the drugs they passed, sorcery or if it was a combination of the two. I have seen the movie It's a beautiful mind but in my opinion it fails in comparsion with what Augustine went through. I mean people telling your going to be a sacrifice, things flying around, the tv talking to you. Seeing Jesus man the list goes on and on.I FOR One know something happened to him but what happened is like a jigsaw puzzle.

The story will no doubt leave a lasting impression of just how bad the Satan and God are in a spiritual warfare Their is so much evidence of Jesus will marvel at what they read!

I really enjoyed this book. Augustine is right when he says his life was turned into a living hell! I have reread this book many times trying to grasp the torture and pain that must have have wretched his soul.In our world and his which at times may have been delusional they seem to fit a real reality. I must say this book says so much and is action packed. Action packed in a very bizarre but inspiring book.

This book is wonderful. My mother lives far away and my 22 month old daughter loves this book about Grand Mamoon (Grandma Moon). The other day my husband and I were walking together in the evening - date night - and we saw the face of Grand Mamoon! It was so obvious. I love that my daughter will always know that her Nannie is watching over her. Even long after she is gone... This book is a treasure. A MUST have!

I *love* this book. Not only is the story touching and heartwarming, but the illustrations capture the magic and imagination of inspired by the moon. The girl begins the book by being unable to see her grandmother in the moon, but by the end, she has a whole new way of looking at things because she remembered the stories her grandmother used to tell her about the way ancient people viewed the moon. By the end of the book, they are having a sort of rooftop full moon celebration, drums and didgeridoos and all! Fabulous story -- I want to see more from this author and illustrator.

Hello Grand Mamoon! is a charming chilrden's picturebook, about a young girl who is very sad about the death of her grandmother. Her grandmother taught her a special way of looking at the moon - a magical way that reveals a shining, loving face. When the young girl sees the moon and shares her experience, she still feels sad that her grandmother is gone, but she also feels joy because she knows she is always being watched over. The stylized, bold art of Tamara Guion bring the beauty of the night sky to life in this delightful storybook, perfect for bedtime. Photographs of the moon on the last page reveal how anyone can see the beaming face of Grand Mamoon.

As a naturopathic physician, this book has not left my side since the 4 years I was in school, or this last year I've been in practice. It's also a great book for people who want to start making their own medicine, as it gives recipes for salves, tinctures, poultices and the like. Sharon Tilgner's company, Wise Woman Herbals, is one of the most prescribed brands of herbal medicine in my profession, so why not learn from the best?

As a busy naturopathic physician who sees a wide range of patients, I found Dr. Tilgner's book invaluable in researching effective formulas.

Combining both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine perspectives, Herbal Medicine will be useful to traditional herbalists as well as TCM practitioners.

This would be a primary reference book for conventional medical offices who seek to work with their patients using natural therapies.

But Herbal Medicine is not just for the professional. Dr. Tilgner's straight-forward writing style makes the book easy to use for those new to herbal remedies. Instructions on how and when to take, and not take, the herbs are clear and meet high standards for safe use.

The directions for concocting and using formulas are concise. And I know from using them in my practice, the formulas are extremely effective.

The section on making tinctures, salves, teas and capsules provides clear instructions and information for either creating your own remedies at home, or working in an herbal pharmacy.

If you have to get one book on herbal medicine, this is it! No one who uses natural medicine should be without Herbal Medicine from the Heart of the Earth.

It just as appropriate on the bookshelf of any family or individual interested in safe and effective self-care as it is in the office of a professional health care provider.

I was very pleased when I received this book. It has a very good breath of information on herbs within it.

A brief chapter on the medicinal properties and actions of herbs, with multiple examples of herbs in each category, is followed by a good materia medica. It only covers 160-170 herbs, and so is not the most comprehensive one available, but each entry is a very good mix of modern medical and traditional herbal details: the part(s) used, taste/smell, "tendencies" (e.g. cooling/drying), dosage, mental picture and specific indications.

There are good size sections on herbal formulae for different conditions (mentioning both appropriate adjunct therapies and any cautions that should be observed) and also on how to make different herbal preparations. There are even a few small chapters on dosages.

All in all, a very good buy !

When you're done with the lessons, you can use it as a huge alphabetical reference guide. This book packs a lot of information in an easy-to-use format.

I thought I would just get an overview, but the book is easy to understand, and the review questions are terrific for making sure you retain what you've read! I was so impressed that I lent the book to a friend who knows a lot about natural healing. She ended up buying a copy for herself! I'm not kidding. It's really that good.
