A cold friendship

I very much recommend this book, it was a great story that kept me thriving for more. I could not put this book down whenever I picked it up. When I read the book I could easily concentrate, I almost got sucked into the story and became one of the characters in it. I learned that scurvy is a sickness that can kill, I learned this from when John died. I loved the book because it is non fiction and I actually know that it
happened. John and Lukes friendship held my interest because when John got sick Luke visited him almost every day. Alot of people would enjoy it. Anyone interested in survival, large ships, Arctic weather, a great friendship, and a mystery of a missing ship. I would read one billion other books by these two authors I love the story. I encourage anyone that can get this book to read it. BURIED IN ICE IS A GREAT STORY BY A GREAT AUTHOR...

This is book #4 . This book is about East High preparing for the SAT's and the schools upcoming Halloween Festival. Gabriella gets to tutor Sharpay and the others. The theme of the Festival is Future Fantasy. The students wear costumes that represent what they would like to be one day. My 9 year old daughter REALLY enjoyed this book! I would recommend this book for advanced readers. There are 126 pages with the last 8 pages being a sneak peak of the first chapter to Broadway Dreams.

MKA-So Little Time-Dating Game

Review Date: 2005-08-30
Personally this is one of my fave books in the MKA So Little Time Series, at first I thought it might be alil boring reading about the girls trying to find dates for their parents. But it turned out to be interesting and quite gripping in places; I couldn't put it down and finished the book in one day because I find MKA books so easy but still fun to read! I especially liked it when Riley gets a date with a surfer because, the guy Vance who she really wanted to go to the Save the Seals Benefit Dance with is going to a concert that same night. Yet when she finds out on the day of the dance, that the concert is cancelled; who will she choose to go out with Vance or the cute famous surfer?
Meanwhile I love the romance between the other twin Chloe and her boyfriend Lennon in these books, she really wants him to get the hint and ask her to this dance aswell. In-fact to get Lennon's attention, she even writes an article in the school newspaper encouraging him to ask her out for Saturday night. Yet Lennon who even-through is a very smart guy; seems dumb around girls and so Chloe ends up going alone. Shes really upset until a text message sent that night proves Lennon does like her too; just why didn't he ask her to the dance?
Your gonna have to read the book to find out what, kept Lennon from going out with Chloe that night and which guy Riley chooses to dance with. But it's definately worth it! Especially when the girls work together to set their Dad up with any women from the internet who isn't creepy! Their Mum with the school football coach who seems perfect for her and finally their housekeeper Manuelo as they accompany him to a dating night at the Newstand coffie house to help him find his ideal date for the evening aswell. All whilst still struggling to get dates for themselves too, will they manage to make everyone happy in the end?
Anyway to end off; this book is really good and a fun read especially, if you are a fan of MKA. But still if not, most teenage girls should like it if they enjoy books about girls of their own age who they can relate to and their problems with boys and dating; which I know, most of us do lol! So all and all, its a good book; buy it and see!!!

A typical British book

After spending over (...) bucks, I hoped to find it worth the price. I wasn't disappointed. This is really a good book for the mature guy, ie. one who has a comprehensive statistical background and who wants to know about econometric time series. Unlike the American authors, the British usually do not fill their books with theorem and proof. I think student will find it more easy to read if it is in a theorem and proof approach. Other than that, it is clearly written and contains a lot of material. It is well organized with very few printing errors. This should be the entry level book on econometric time series --though not for student. This is one of the best econometric/time series books I ever bought and read. It is (...) but worth it.

Take some Time to Dispel Your Ignorance
Helpful Votes: 24 out of 25 total.
Review Date: 2003-03-22
This book does much to advance the marginalist-subjectivist paradigm in economics. Most economists treat time trivially in their analysis. Some, like Gary Becker, correctly recognize the need to examine how people allocate the only non-renewable resource- time. The Becker approach uses static equilibrium models to address this issue. This represents an advance over the rest of mainstream analysis, but holds the data that people acquire through time constant. This makes convergence on equilibrium conditions possible, if not certain.

Following the work of Mises and Hayek, the authors of this book examine the implications of how knowledge develops through time. As people interact, they learn and change data relevant to their economic plans. We learn and create knowledge simultaneously, and do this differently depending upon the choices we make. Consequently, convergence on equilibrium conditions in markets is not inevitable, and may not even be possible. This makes the concepts of 'real time' and 'ignorance' that the authors discuss relevant to all economics analysis.

This allows us to consider information problems other than second best rational ignorance. We not only know that we do not know some things. We face gaps in our data concerning what we consider finding out about.

This does not mean that equilibrating forces do not exist. It means only that we must consider open ended processes in markets. This is not a new proposition. Adam Smith, the founder of economics as a distinct discipline, thought in evolutionary and process orientated terms.

If there is anything wrong with this book, it is that the authors might be a little too dismissive of conventional economics. Conventional notions of supply, demand, and equilibrium help us to understand economics more than the authors will admit. This approach simplifies many real world complexities. The static approach is not entirely unreal, and does contain enough reality to play an important role in economic analysis. Mainstream economists should, however, be mindful of the extent to which static optimization models fail to explain real world phenomena.

mostly helpful, not for Mac

Helpful for beginners and more well-versed users, though very heavy with busy work. The explanations are pretty clear and simple, and if practice makes perfect, you'd be close to that end after completing everything in this book.
WARNING FOR MAC USERS: don't get this book. It is intended for the PC version of Office, and even though you can still stumble through, most of the shortcuts are slightly different, and the overall way to do things can vary. It's a mess if you have to take this for a class and have a Mac, so think twice before taking such a class.

The evocative, stunning illustrations and text certainly accomplish their purpose. Young readers will glimpse the majesty of the Grand Canyon and learn something about its past and present inhabitants. But I must confess, my children don't particularly favor books that describe natural scenery in straightforward detail as in "A ringtail cat drinks from a slower side stream", etc, etc.

Well, well. We finally have a piece of work that deals honestly with G-d and culture and the ways of growing up. Adam Palmer does a magnificent job of attacking subjects such as the meaning of life, our relationships with
G-d, family, ourselves and others, how to deal with parents and siblings and friends, temptation, and the future. One of the most refreshing aspects of the book is that Palmer doesn't just stay in the arena of ambiguous abstraction when dealing with big issues such as temptation and relationships, but he comes down to the concrete, here and now, our world experiences when dealing with subjects like sex, masturbation, rule of law set up by the parents, school, homework, etc. This book is most definitely a breath of fresh air designed to get the conversation going between a student and his/her parents. If you are a teenager, or a parent, please get and read this book.
