This is maybe my favorite Outer Limits book. The book is artfully woven with splendid plot twists the whole way through. The coolest thing is, if you think about it, you can actually believe that this COULD happen. With the way we're acting now, our world could be that polluted one day, and we might well have the technology to allow a psycho like that to make that time machine. This is one of the freakiest aspects of it. MUST BUY!

A novel about how changing the past effects the future.

The Time Shifter, third in the Outer Limits series by John Peel, was about how changing the past can effect the future for the worse. Brandon is an ordinary twelve year old kid living in the 1990s. He meets his future self, who wants to change the past because the future turned out badly. However, Brandon discovers that his future self is less than sane and will stop at nothing to change his future - even if it means messing up the present. I thought this was an excellant, exciting book.

Draven's Defiance. The story of a young man named Scott who found himself in the world you probably already know a little about, since you're looking up this book: Marus.

Confused and bewildered, he joins company with Draven, an individual who bears the mark of one chosen by the Unseen One as His servant: eyes of two different colors.

Scott eventually learns from Draven that, by the power of the Unseen One, judgment has been handed out on Marus in the form of time standing still. It is Perpetually Autumn, grass does not grow, people do not age. It is judgment against the apostate leader, Mobeck, and his wicked queen Skalaw. Scott finds himself headed, along with Draven, for a showdown with the corrupt leaders to vie for the hearts of the peoples of Marus. Will Scott join with Draven's Defiance?

Another very enjoyable tale about the fictional world of Marus, weaved by Adventures in Odyssey's Paul McCusker. It tells the Biblical story of Elijah in a refreshing way, a new environment that makes the story come to life anew. There's a few new spins on this story (Draven escapes with Scott on a motorcycle, and the judgment handed out is different from the God's No-Rain judgment in the Bible. A famine, however is a consequence of time standing still)

Another great read by the same great author, and I consider it worth the money. My only regret is that there are only six in this series.

Very Good Book

This is good book about swearing or cuss words. Also important to never make a big fuss when a kid swears, then he or she will just keep doing it to get a reaction.

Some people say that Stan and Jan Berenstain -- after writing nearly 300 books over the past 30 years -- are out of ideas. But "The Berenstain Bears and the Big Blooper" show us that there are still plenty of stories to be told by the lovable family that lives in a treehouse deep in Bear Country. It seems that strong language has crept into every aspect of life, and has become very prevalent in television and movies, many now viewed by young children. The story helps families to talk about the use of "bad" words, and adds an important message that parents (and all adults for that matter) should take to heart: adults shouldn't be using these words either (especially around kids). Stan and Jan hit home with this book, and I look forward to more titles, especially in their series of First Time Books, which continue to help families to deal with the first time experiences and important lessons of childhood.

I have been a fan if the Berenstain Bears for as long as i can remember. I remember i started reading the books when I was in elementary school and I am 21 years old. I have found all the the books to be both educational and humorus. I still to this day collect the "first time reader" series and have a few books from other series as well. I hope that one day I will be able to share these books that I have loved as a child with my own childern. This book here "Blooper", just goes to show that the bears cubs stories should never end. I enjoyed these books as a child and I do hope that these books will continue to be written so to watch the bear cubs grow and experience more of the world and how they deal with the problems that they are faced.

I purchased this book along with several other Berenstain Bears books because my grandsons have expressed an interest in the books that we had from when two of our sons were in elementary school. It's a great book and our 4 year old grandson just loves it when we read it to him. I would recommend this book to anyone who has young children or grandchildren. The children can relate to the things that the Berenstain Bears do.

My 4 year old son LOVES this book. It made him want to learn how to tell the time and he loves the rhyming words also. It's a great book to read together and for him to learn how to read by himself. This is definitely on my all-time fave books for preschool kids!

"The Berenstain Bears Catch the Bus" is another winner in the excellent series of children's books coauthored by Stan and Jan Berenstain. The series is about the Bear family: mom, dad, and the two cubs. In this volume, the two cubs oversleep -- will they miss the school bus?

The book contains enjoyable cartoony illustrations that are bright with soft, pastel colors. I especially love the Bear's whimsical house: a hollow tree with Victorian accents and lavender trim. The story is told in an appealing rhyme with simple vocabulary -- great for beginning readers. Example: "It is almost seven, as you can see. / All is quiet in the Bears' Home Sweet Tree."

An nice educational touch to this book is the fact that the Bears' story is accompanied by both traditional clockfaces and digital time displays throughout, thus helping young readers learn how to tell time in both formats. I bought the book for my five year old nephew, and he loved it. Highly recommended.

No more "I want to sleep".

This is a really useful book to get my four-year old out of bed every morning. A nice feature is that every page shows a dial and a digital clock, making it easy for the child to learn to tell time. The book also teaches my son that he might be late for school if he does not wake up on time. So now every morning I will read the book to him, and he will wake up smiling instead of whining "I want to sleep"!

This is a book that Gary Frye - husband - provided information for but I found it useful because schools are always need more ways of getting funds into campuses to meet NCLB. Since I'm the one who always orders Gary had the follow comments: Working with Stan over the years has given me insights into the need for developing other system for getting funds into school districts. This book is GREAT and helped me think of new always that can use my school district's foundation and development office. Stan has provided another great service to public education by providing folks with a reason why a development/fundraising office it needed.

Highly recommend!

What a wonderful resource! Dr. Levenson's book is a valuable guide for helping find sources of grants and for better understanding the process of grant writing.

I particularly liked the examples of grant opportunities for K-12 schools and the list of 101 foundations and corporations interested in giving to K-12 schools. The examples of awarded grant proposals provided in the book show you the proper formats and various writing styles for a winning grant.

As a technology education teacher, I feel the section on writing mini-grants will be very helpful in obtaining future grants to further expand my program.

Having actually applied for and been awarded five mini-grants this year, I feel that Dr. Levenson's book will help me take my grantsmanship to the next level. He provides a blueprint for creating successful school grant writing teams and for obtaining major grants to meet larger needs.

As the new fundraising director within a new fundraising organization within a very old chicago public school, i needed to ramp up extremely quickly. I had no NFP fundraising experience whatsoever. I largely credit this book with taking us from zero to $150,000 in the course of several months. I have no affiliation with the author (I'm always supicious of glowing reviews), and in fact was on this page to recommend it to another school that's just kicking off their fundraising efforts. It's comprehensive, has a wonderful collection of docs and support materials, and I continue to pass our two copies around to new members of our team. Seriously, buy this book.

Originally, I bought this book because it looked cute. What I didn't realize was the depth of feeling it would convey to my pre-school son. He had just switched schools and was experiencing many of the thoughts and feelings expressed by Albert and Brendan.

Since that time, we have purchased four more Dinofours books and plan to get the whole series!

Amazon says this book is currently not available -- track a copy down through your library or an out of print book service because this book is GREAT!

I wish I'd had this book back when my oldest kids were apprehensive about the first day of school! In Dinofours: It's Time for School, Steven Metzger, a preschool teacher as well as an author, offers first timers and their parents gentle reassurance about that momentous event. Albert, a four year old dinosaur who acts just like the four year old in my house, isn't quite sure he wants to go to school. 'Mommy, will you stay with me at school?' asked Albert. 'I'll stay for awhile,' said Albert's mother. 'And then, when you're ready, I'll leave.' 'I'll never be ready.' Once inside the classroom, Albert meets his teacher, Mrs. Dee, and his classmates, who could have been modeled on the kids in my son's class last year. There's the boy who never met a stranger, the girl who grabs all the cookies, the kids who love to giggle during storytime. The classroom is pretty much like what my son experienced: a sand table, a playdough table, a dress-up area, an art center, a reading nook, and lots of bright colors and age-appropriate toys. When Albert starts to cry because he misses his mom, Mrs. Dee asks for his help in comforting a sad little doll. Later, when Brendan bursts into tears, Albert uses the same technique to comfort his new friend. Hans Wilhelm's illustrations capture the personality of each Dinofour. In the beginning of the book, Albert clings to his mother's leg, while Brendan zooms around the room from activity to activity. After story time, when the Dinofours spot their parents and caregivers waiting at the door to take them home, each little face is lit with sheer joy!

Great for the pre-K school jitters.

I read this book to my shy, sensitive very young 3 year old before she started Pre-K 3. When the big day came she blew me a kiss and said " see-ya later mom". I recommended it to many other moms with children starting Pre-K 3 and it had the same effect. I have purchased all of the Dinofour books. They are her favorites. They all have an excellent message and lesson to share.

ALTAMENTE RECOMENDABLE.

I would just like to note that the review titled "Mary-Kate is Beautiful" is not true. There is no part in which Mary-Kate auditions for a B-movie and seduces the director - this is all from the imagination of an obsessed Mary-Kate fan who wishes he was that supposed "director".

But otherwise, this book is really good. I'd highly recomend it.

I love this book and have read it more than 10 times. One reason I like this book is because the main character, Kate, has mixed interests. She's a good athlete, and a tomboy, but also likes fairy tales. She's a real girl and not a goody two-shoes. The plot has lots of twists but is fun to follow. Kate is funny and shows the medieval court subjects that girls can be more than princesses. Every time I read this book, I feel like I am in the story, watching Kate. This book is like eating my favorite dessert and I love it!

She's adorable; she's audacious; she's fairy-tale-loving, tomboy Kate in Pulitzer Prize winning Anna Quindlen's Happily Ever After, illus. by James Stevenson.

When Kate's wish to be a princess comes true, she straightens up a kingdom by popping the black knight with a chamber pot and teaching the Serving Maids how to play baseball.

Undaunted by a dragon, she reminds us that living happily ever after is being who we are.
