This is the only manual that covers the 1.8l Sidekick Sport, so I got what I needed. As usual, good for the DIY'er but won't necessarily cover everything. I wouldn't be without one.

Is it good? No, it's snot

This is a frustrating book. While I understand that cramming everything that needs to be known about a car between two covers is a nearly impossible task, it seemd like nothing I wanted to do was adequately explained.

The switch for my AC/heater gave out...the explanation for how to remove it was complicated and confusing. I'm not sure if I can do it without completely disassembling the heater control panel or not. My speedo cable squeaks...I can't even find any mention of the speedo cable in the book. There's an explanation of how to pull the instrument cluster...but for some reason, it doesn't mention where any of the cables or wires that connect to it are located.

I browsed some other sections, and they seemed just as confusingly written as the areas I was interested in.

I would only get this manual as a supplement to another one. It's got the information that someone with a good deal of experience needs to work on their car, but it isn't good enough for an amateur, even a fairly experienced one like me.

This book is simply fabulous!

This book has great graphics, is easy to read and is well suited for beginning artists. It covers the basics of drawing and painting, etc., with an even hand for each topic. For a book with more history of artists methods and technical depth on each topic and a much wider definition of "artist's materials", in other words, more than painting, drawing, and pastels, tryout Ray Smith's book. (After browsing, I returned this book the next day.)The Artist's Handbook

I had this book checked out of the library for so long that I finally decided I needed to just buy it. It's a great resource for a beginning artist. It covers every possible medium and process and gives lots of history and background for art. It doesn't go into extreme detail, but gives you enough information to know whether you want to try something or not. Then you can research online or elsewhere for more information. I love this book. It's filled with stickies hanging out all over. It's given me so much inspiration for my own art and exposed me to much more than I ever thought I would. I highly recommend this book for beginners. Those of you who went to art school won't need this book.

Artists receive a comprehensive, in-depth guide to the range of materials used today, from applicability to specific kinds of projects to various techniques specific to different mediums, from blending and mixing colors to layering applications on different papers. What sets Lorraine Harrison's Artist's Materials: All The Materials You Will Ever Need To Make Art apart from competitors is a powerful visual approach which illustrates the results of techniques and materials applications.

What a great book! Investors Web Guide book has 425 pages packed full of information. I jumped into stock screening section and immediately put the suggestions to work. When my copy arrived I had a hard time putting it down. This book is a great service to investment clubs and individual investors and worth every penny (well nickel) I paid!

I spent about an hour in a book store flipping through this, and I definately thought it was much more attractive than similar ones. This book, unlike others, is organized, and every single page has the same amount of Web Site descriptions, which is about 10 per page. To briefly describe them, every single description of a website is the same length, and looks nice and squared off into 10 blocks of text on each page, meaning that descriptions don't run on with endless babble, and more importantly, making the reading and then going back later to revisit easier on your eyes... It is also something like 400+ pages, and I was unable to count just how many addresses there were (maybe 3000 or so)... THE ONLY THING that does concern me is that if the book really was published in 1997 as it says, then that leaves a year and a half 'till now of open time, possibly missing some new up and coming hot sites. But you do get a few thousand addresses in this book.

In spite of the previous anal-retentive reviewer obsessed with fonts and bold type...

This is an excellent source book for anyone wishing to delve into the world of Pro Tools v.6x. My brother is in school to get a degree in audio engineering, and this book is the Bible of the course on Pro Tools. It can be used by beginners and experts alike, as it is easy to read and simple to find information. You can read it all the way through, jump to sections, or just pick and choose which subjects you want to learn about.

My band has released a CD that was recorded on Pro Tools, and we are very happy with the results. However, I feel that there is much more to know about this powerful recording tool, and wish to take our music to the next level. This book will be a great asset in my quest for recording excellence. I highly recommend it.

I was in the B&B bookstore Today and looked for a Pro Tools book to help me for my class. The first moment I picked up this book, Pro Tools 6 Power!, I just couldn't think of anything but one, why on earth would anyone wants to print their book all bold?

Not only the title of the sections were in bold, but every word in paragraphs in the book were all printed in bold, and in all san-serif type face. Pardon me, because I know a bit about graphic design, you may say I was picky. However, from my point of view, whether you understand graphic design or not, it just a very HARD TO READ book, no matter how well this book was written! I didn't review the contents of this book because I couldn't scan through the contents like I did for the other books; when everything looks all bold and same font size, it's hard to tell whether you're reading at something interesting or not.

Maybe the author wants to emphasize "Power!" as this book suggested on its title, but instead using too much "Power!"(boldness) for this book, he cripple it and made it unlegible.

*I give only one star to this book just because the legibility/readability issues, not the contents. Maybe somebody could do a rating for the contents, just to be a bit fare for this book...

This workbook takes you through every step of the research process, from initial conceptualization to evaluation and the writeup of the results, in simple, easy steps. This workbook got several classmembers through white-knuckle fear of research quite painlessly.

Perpetuates the worst aspects of legal writing.
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2002-05-02
The idea behind this book is good. But the execution is poor. I agree with some of the advice the author gives about the sample documents. But that's where my agreement ends. Two main problems:

First, the samples are written in overly formal, archaic legalese. Young lawyers will pick up many bad writing habits if they mimic these samples. They perpetuate the worst aspects of legal writing and are far behind the times (despite the book's title) when it comes to clear writing.

Second, the samples use fictional names that try to be clever and cute. It becomes quite distracting. For example, it might be clever when Ima A. Torney of the law firm of Over & Dunne writes a demand letter to Ben Borrower on behalf of Sam Shark. But imagine this effort at cuteness spread over 70 documents. I was spending more time puzzling over the names than I was reading the documents.

For an attorney starting out, or unfamilar in certain areas of the law, the book help you write clear consice letters that get the job done. The book also has great insight on the practice of law as both a business and as a trade. It is a can't miss for recent graduates, law students and sole practioneers.

Very cool bands and advice

This is a very cool book -- its like getting a personal tour of the different studios, with 311, korn, snoop dogg (nice) and other people... I really like the Michael Beinhorn part, everyone talks smack about the music biz but he actually seems to know the game from both sides... That and the parts about Darin from SOAD and the guitar sound were my favorites. Also really liked the details on the equipment to get, whether its a tube mike or just foam board for your basement.

A Completely Useless Book

Review Date: 2005-02-16
I was quite excited when I first read a review of this book seeing as it had interviews with one of my favorite bands The Crystal Method. In case you are wondering, the '...and More' artists listed on the book cover are Michael Bienhorn, BT and 311.

This book however is full of completely useless articles. The "interviews" with the artists consist of once sentence, worthless tidbits of information that you could get from any other article ever written about each band/artist. There is absolutely nothing mentioned of recording techniques as is mentioned in the tagline of this book.

What is mentioned is something to the effect of: "I think digital synths can sound as good as analog synths." Yes, quite useful information.

Overall I found literally not one single bit of information in this book that I had not already read in an article already published about one of these artists.

The only thing I can say partially positive about this book, which is also extremely disappointing, is that there are pretty thourough pictures of each band's studio. I say disappointing because these pictures are relatively small, fairly low resolution and worst of all black and white.

Overall this book is a huge disappointment and I want my $13 back! I got absolutely not one useful piece of information out of this book. I've read better articles with these bands in $4 magazines.

I found this book to be very helpful. I didn't know how to set up my own home studio, but I wanted to, and didn't know quite where to start. I don't really have the patience to plow through a bunch of technical manuals or reviews on equipement, I needed some ideas and inspiration for what a real working musician would do to get me unstuck. To realize that some these big name guys approached things in a really down to earth fashion and see how they set up their own places and what gear they used was pretty inspiring for me. I'm already trying things out on my own and making headway. Good stuff.

Good pictures, wide range of tools, some misinformation
Helpful Votes: 30 out of 31 total.
Review Date: 1998-09-05
I think the breadth of the information in this book is what causes the problems. It attempts to cover a wide range of antique tools according to the profession of the user. On this basis, it is a rather remarkable collection of widely varying information on lots of old tools and their uses. The problem is that most of the information appears to have come from helpful dealers and passers-by, not necessarily experts. This is alluded to in the forward, so there is no deliberate attempt to claim otherwise. These helpful people were not necessarily knowledgable as shown by incorrect naming and descriptions on some items. The included price guides also varied all over the map from too cheap to too expensive. In no cases were maker names mentioned along with the pricing which makes them pretty much useless. I was particularly interested in this book for the woodworking section which is only barely touched upon given the wide subject material and limited space. I did learn the names of lots of esoteric stuff that I did not know about before.

I don't know how appropriate the title is (or how "essential" many of these items are) but I had a lot of fun reading through this book--which I did in one seating, and read almost the entire contents--quite a rare feat for what is essentially a kitchen gadget guide/cookbook I would think! Now I find myself coveting pricey mandolins and Indian woks. And no longer a complete kitchen gadget neophyte, I'm able to identify the most obscure tools at, say, the well-stocked shelves of haughty culinary kitchen shops like Sur La Table. The design of this book is intriguing as well--I like how some pages unfold to reveal a double-sized page...and if you're one to appreciate lustrous thick paper and engaging text layout (you know who you are, DK/Eyewitness guidebook fans), this book will probably catch your fancy. The content is interesting as well, it is sort of like reading "Cook's" magazine. The only drawback to the book is that although there are some recipes included, they don't seem to have any theme to them, and furthermore, there isn't an index...so while you're casually browsing the book, you might happen upon a potential recipe, but then when you try to go back and find it later, you have to flip through each and every page to find it again! Overall though, a fun book to go back to as a reference and inspiration.

Attractive, but many items are neither basic nor essential!

Perhaps this book is aimed more at the gourmet cook with LOTS of space for storing all kinds of gadgets and tools! But I have been cooking from scratch for almost 25 years now, and I have not found a need for many of the tools this book claims are basic and necessary.

I did enjoy, however, looking through this book with its beautiful pictures. I also enjoyed learning about tools that I have never seen before! There are no doubt people who use tools such as the tomato press, nutmeg mill, bean slicer, and cheese dome, frequently and couldn't cook without them! Which gadgets a cook treasures is a very individual thing.

As for me, my favorite cooking gadgets are Kitchen Aid mixer (see my review of this on Amazon), garlic press, and a rotary grater for grating fresh parmesan cheese. My advice is to check out reviews of particular brands of cooking tools here on Amazon and on other cooking websites.

This book has many fold-out pages with pictures of MARVELOUS looking food! There are quite a few recipes and many have photos showing the various steps. Most of the recipes are on the gourmet-cooking end of the scale, rather than ones that would be easy to make and family-friendly.

My advice is to decide which tools you will need for YOUR style of cooking and then buy a quality product that will serve you well and will last a long time!

Please check out my other reviews - I've reviewed a number of cookbooks here on Amazon. Happy cooking!

I wasn't aware of the fact that the pb doesn't include the CD until I received the book in the mail. Now how much do CDs cost Zondervan? Paperbaks are for those who desire to save alittle bit from the cover price. But by not including the CD one is forced to buy the hardback edition. Are they more concerned with making $ or teaching folks?

Practical level of Greek Understanding
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2008-02-14
William Mounce has provided a priceless tome that allows almost anyone who can read the ability to understand Greek.

I acknowledge at the outset that you will not become a Greek scholar by reading this book. Instead, this book allows one to leverage a basic understanding of Greek with Bible reference tools to gain a greater understanding and a more accurate understanding of God's Word.

This book is practical beyond words.

You see, I studied both Greek and Hebrew years ago. As I was working through my studies I got to a point where I wondered if what I was studying would ever come into play in my daily Bible study. In short, I questioned just how much I would use (and subsequently remember) of my studies. So, I eventually settled for a level of knowledge that this book provides. And if you are observant, you'll always see references to pastors and teachers being "rusty" in the biblical languages. Why are they rusty? Through lack of use. And it's no wonder: We have so much available to us by way of reference tools that even if you did spend two years in seminary in original language study you'd probably never use all of what you studied to begin with.

Keep in mind that there will never be a substitute for actually studying Greek and Hebrew. But for most of us, books like this when combined with the wealth of print and electronic reference works will unlock the Bible and provide us with more accurate exegesis than just an English translation alone.

Highly recommended for those who want to go deeper in their biblical studies yet want to do so in a practical manner.
