I purchased this book for a good friend of mine who loves looking at
other peoples faces and studying them. She has traveled quite a bit and has met a lot of people. She loved this book and spent a lot of time reading over what the author had to say about his photographs.

I can say that the depictions are great and informative to the average reader. The Eastern Shore is a special place and this books cracks open the door for one to see it's magic and mysteries. I am one of the wheelchair hunters mentioned (far right).

This book shows human life at its greatest moments. The subjects of these photographs are the backbone of America, our elderly citizens. They are seen in the context of their professions or just enjoying their time in life. This book is a collection of timeless memories displayed in a most creative and beautiful way.

Never before has an Amazon book inspired me to submit a review. I did as the author advised and read this book very carefully. My life immediately changed for the better. To date only underground readers have profited from this book. Now that it is available on Amazon, the lives of bus readers will be enriched. Thank you Frank and Amazon.

I bought this book after Mr Nixon came to our house to take portraits of my husband and me for a current project. I hadn't known his work before and was intrigued when I saw the big turn-of-the-century camera!
This book shows pictures of Mr Nixon's children and wife in everyday situations, incredibly direct, sincere, and humorous - you feel like you're there with them, only unseen, a ghost invading their family warmth.

Gianni Giacomelli has found the right distance to portray "the face of Afghanistan". He is close, very close to the lives of all the people figuring in the book: ancient soldiers, women in search of freedom and children staring amazed at the camera. Since the best pictures of this engaging book are those where the subjects seem to address the audience directly. They look as if they were asking us questions about the world we live in, our image of Afghanistan, or simply, our lives.
So far, so close, a lesson of humanity.
