Thanks to a recipe in this book. I had just bought the book and have only made one recipe and shared my brownies with my girlfriends and their hubbies. They were amazed...and I am amazed, too, since I am not known for my cooking skills ;o)

Brilliant! Brilliant!

Admit it - even die hard bakers and cooks like me - can use a short cut now and then - this is the brownie mix bible! Buy it - you won't be disappointed. -- Addendum: Made the dark rum brownies today with the chocolate glaze - dear God - - I bake them and then left the house - I came back in and the house smelled incredible (and I bake all the time!) - - - they taste even better than they look and smell. You would swear you bought these at some posh bakery! I made a double batch to send to my husband's work - but couldn't send them all - wrapped up some for favorite friends and pals - only the best of friends deserve these!

These brownies are bliss!

I have never bought a brownie mix cookbook before, and I never will have to again. The recipes in this book are absolutely delicious. There are a vast number of recipes to choose from. I sometimes can't make up my mind which to make so I will make two recipes at a time and share them with my neighbors. This book is a MUST for brownie lovers.

Brownie Mix Bliss: More Than 175 Very Chocolate Recipes for Brownies, Bars, Cookies and Other Decadent Desserts Made with Boxed Brownie Mix

In COOKIE DOUGH DELIGHTS, Camilla V. Saulsbury worked magic with refrigerated cookie dough. With BROWNIE MIX BLISS she turns her attention to the familiar box of brownie mix and the many possibilities contained therein.

All 175-plus recipes in BROWNIE MIX BLISS begin with a standard box of brownie mix. What's more, all the recipes have been streamlined for easy, everyday baking. The problem, if you can call it that, will be deciding which treat to make first. How about Mocha Buttercream Brownies? Or Snickery Supreme Brownies? Or maybe Mint Julep Ganache Brownies? And that's but the tip of the chocolate iceberg.

While brownie mix can be used to create all manner of mouthwatering brownies, it can also be transformed into countless other very easy, very chocolate desserts ranging from sophisticated biscotti, soufflé cakes, madeleines, and cheesecakes to nostalgic drop cookies ice cream novelties, gooey layered bar cookies, and so much more.

In addition to the recipes, Saulsbury offers "Brownie Points," or tips for baking success. For the accomplished baker as well as the novice, BROWNIE MIX BLISS takes the chocolate dessert to a new level of, well, bliss!

Another delicious timesaver by Camilla Saulsbury!

Stock up on mix ins, and you're done. Rave reviews from the people at my husband's office. I will never let them know that my killer brownies are not 100% from scratch, let them think it!

This book is a must have for all you busy Mom's, busy women, and young bakers out there!

The best review of this book comes from my grandchildren who insist I read this with them every time they overnight with Nana and Boppy and are all freshly tubbied and jammied up. Theyu love this book time and time again. It's humor remains fresh and fun and I hope Big Puddlepot (what kid doesn't love that name!) add to the Jimmy Johnny Brownie saga with more hilarious episodes. I have had this book for awhile now and it has been really fun to read recently with my two small children during our "Three books before bedtime" daily ritual. They are getting to the point where it is difficult for them to go to sleep and Jimmy Jonny has initiated some wonderful conversations about the things we do and what can happen afterwards. A well written, well illustrated delight!

Jimmy Jonny Brownie doesn't like to go to bed. And with the approval of his parents, he stays up all night. What he discovers the next day as a consequence of not going to be the night before instills in him (and young readers everywhere) the parental wisdom of bedtime for even the most energetic of kids. Beautifully enhanced with the lively artwork of Sherwin Schwartzrock, Bing Puddlepot's Jimmy Jonny Brownie Stays Up All Night is a unique, entertaining, and highly recommended picturebook story that has a true moral to the tale.

Breathtakingly Original

The Lingerie Room is a highly original and breathtaking novel by Brownie. Each of the chapters deal with a couple in a relationship which is either stagnant or in various stages of decline. Some find their soulmates, but they are not necessarily the people they came in with; some are headed for tragedy, but all people are tested on an exploratory level, to gauge their commitment to each other. At the same time they are either resisting or indulging in what's on offer at the Lingerie Room. They are put to the test with their intentions to each other in soul baring honesty. They explore their innermost feelings and lay their relationships up for scrutiny amongst the temptations of the lingerie room, a futuristic brothel, where anything goes. In times where the new law of union is anti-marriage, it is indeed a test of their faith in each other's love and dedication to each other.
With a mixture of fascinating characters, including a time warp assassin and a self-absorbed alien being, this well-written, fast moving erotic story makes for a great, riveting read. It would also translate well into a sleek sci-fi movie.

This book was given to me as a gift and I must say it is one I was very happy to receive. Although only a short story it is both imaginative and topical, and probably most important it is original. Brownie has a great insight into relationships in the 21st century and combines a heady mix of sex, hi-technology, alien control and raw emotions.

This book will open your eyes to new possibilities and fire the imagination. 4.5 out of 5

A Provocative Tale!

The Lingerie Room is a highly provocative fantasy/science fiction tale that's both exotic and erotic. Alien beings and humans interact within a realm of nefarious manipulation. At the center of it all is "The Lingerie Room," where couples are "stripped," in more ways than one, of all pretenses - forced to speak only the truth about their feelings and intensions regarding one another. This spellbinding story enlivens the reader who becomes a behind-the-scenes voyeur during the unveiling of a series of fascinating relationships. I highly recommend this unusual book. - Review written by Laura Somers, author of "Didn't See It Coming."

Mirror of the soul

The Lingerie Room, by Brownie, is a unique glimpse into that part of our minds we most often keep to ourselves. Set in the near future, this is a place that pulls out the truth of our inner demons, be they sexual or romantic. It's the ultimate marriage/relationship counselor, throwing the participants into a moment of harsh truth and raw sensuality. Set up as a series of short stories, The Lingerie Room deals with eight sets of couples, each showing a very different side of how emotions and relationships play out. Despite the constant theme, Brownie manages to keep each of these stories unique, bringing to the reader a sense of the erotic and dark within each of us. The characters are believable with a mixture of modern and futuristic elements blended into them that help keep the stories in focus. Brownie even gives us a brief glimpse into the word of those that run The Lingerie Room and even they are not immune to the strange happenings of this place.

For those looking for a quick release into the world of the erotic, or enjoy seeing the shadows that lie in each of our psyches, I recommend The Lingerie Room. I am sure that any who read it will find themselves touched by at least one of the stories, as if looking into a mirror of the soul.

I am in chocolate heaven everytime I open this book. The recipes are simply the best, chocolatiest, fudgiest, gooeiest I have ever tried. Even her recipe for cocoa brownies are moist and fudgy whereas usually cocoa brownies turn out dry and chewy.

I am working my way through this book and so far everything I made have been winners. This book has everything from classic fudge brownies to touches of unconventional flavors like balsamic vinegar, lemongrass and ginger. Having said that, I'm not an adventurous baker so I would probably give such recipes a miss. Still this is a book I use all the time and it hasn't disappointed me yet. And probably never will.

Great book to give as a hostess gift.

This is truly a brownie experience! More than 100 recipes involving some 62 different ingredients and combo variants thereof. This is brownie heaven!

Brownie the author aptly defines as "a sqare or rectangle of rich, usually chocolate cake often containing nuts or other crunchy morsels; can be chewy, cakelike, or fluffy; thin or thick; frosted or plain' baked or unbaked."

And there you have it, so much to try and then taste.

There is neat section of Health Conscious Brownies, which are the few I've tried so far: Papaya Paradise Browines, Pina Colada Brownies, Luscious Avocado Nut Brownies, and on and on it goes.

There is elegant, and wheel, and non-chocolate, and a brownie orgy extravagance, and "oh, my" is this stuff great!

The author on top of all this brownie creativity does all the illustrations and unique calligraphy.

A treat from front to back, and then some. Try this with cold glass of milk. Now this is living.

A wonderful book for women (and men) entrepreneurs who have dreams of being their own boss and want to read about a woman's story of turning her dream into reality. Quite a fun read! Much of what is said in this book is material I cover during my face-to-face sessions as a volunteer SCORE counselor.

If you are lucky enough to get a copy of this book, then you will learn about the importance of the following if you want to be self-employed and your own boss:

1. The need to get organized.
2. The need to get your finances in order.
3. The need to research your business idea and write a business plan.
4. The need to systematize your business' processes.
5. The need to continually improve your business' marketing program.

I particularly enjoyed the discussion of the importance of intellectual property concepts and why one should consider created a tradename, trademarks and possible patents. There was valuable insight offered about the significance of trade secrets. And don't forget how much mentors can help, too.

I also liked the insight provided regarding the use of temp workers exclusively. That seems to be a growing trend in America today. And the message that not having a storefront with a reasonable profit is better than having a strorefront with minimal profit. One should be in business to make money - not just put on a show of being self-employed.

I would have liked the book better if copyrights had also been mentioned. And I was kind of surprised the author said she personally used Quicken instead of QuickBooks. If she really does use Quicken to keep her business' books, then it is smaller than I envisioned it. And I would be surprised she had a need for a tax attorney as she said. 5 stars!

Brownie the Boomer. This is perhaps THE classic book of all time regarding American Railroadiana. The history of this book is amazing. It was written and self-published, and then the author, Charles P. Brown, disappeared from the face of the earth. The book also disappeared. However, one of the university presses found an original, perhaps in the Library of Congress; I'm not sure where they got it. Suffice to say they knew what they were looking at when they saw it, and it has been republished. This book is dead-on original railroad. Not ghost-written, not a compilation. This guy, well, I won't give away the ending, but I can see him now sitting at a card table in a basement boiler room, hunting-and-pecking out his stories on an old portable typewriter. One of the really great things the author does is start just about every paragraph with: "Well, then I headed down into Oklahoma (or wherever). He starts the paragraphs this way because HE IS TELLING YOU THE STORY. Who says the past is gone? SIX STARS!

A tremendous insight into the (early twentieth century) world of a "Rail" (railroad employee), heavy with the vernacular of the industry (most of which is still used by today's "Rails"), with their irreverant sense of humor, which ranges from passive subtleties to outrageous exercises. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READING!

his influences. The book is writen by Happy Traum, who is very sympathetic
to his subject, due to the fact that he was one of Brownies students.

So many times, people just fall through the cracks of choppy bar chords and 5 minute solos. People sometimes forget what music really is. The minute you open this book, things are just different. It doesnt solely tab out how to play blues guitar. In fact, you quickly learn that it really can't be done in this fashion. (80% of the book is composed of 3 chords.) Instead it teaches what the blues are. The majority of the book is actually Sonny talking about the great depression and his philosiphies on life and hardships and pulling through and what it was to be black in the fifties and be blues musician. The book is so personal that you feel as if your sitting on some small porch listening as he smokes his stale newports and tells you about life. He teaches you to take life stretch it out and turn it into a song. This book is probably one of the most profound books I've ever read regarding guitar because it shows that there is so much more beyond getting the right syncopation and notes on a guitar, its about the music itself and the passion it takes to make it. I highly recommend this book to anyone.
