Excellent advice for freeing your mind from fear and judgements.

I prefer the CD's. I do't always have time to sit down and read a book. The CD's allow me to get the whole book done in a matter of hours, rather than weeks, and I can listen to them at home , in the car, traveling, or doing house work. The mental exercises she suggests in her book are much easier to repeat with the CD's. I find that it is necessary to repeat sections of the CD's to help reinforce the positive changes I want to make in my life. Negative thinking and fear are very powerful habits and the verbal abuse we get from others (or ourselves) is not easily removed from our minds, but Susan Jeffer's has the advice to make it possible to reprogram our thinking with positive language and thoughts.
When I need extra support to get through some difficult negative beliefs or fear, I listen to certain sections of the CD's again and again to reinforce the positive thinking and programming that she teaches.
Her lessons and advice are helping me find more freedom and happiness within myself and I am changing my life for the better.
I would recommend her book and the CD's to anyone who wants to stop negative thinking and fear from controlling their life choices.

Fabulous experience!

This is a must for anyone that has experienced anxiety, panic attacks or the negative stress caused by fear.

Dr. Jeffers keeps everything simple, compassionate, and motivating. Not an overload of psycho-babble. I have been listening to the CD's on the way to and from work. It is relaxing and keeps me motivated through the day. From the very first listening I started becoming aware of my fear-based behavior and have already made phone calls that I have been putting off, started a new exercise class, and am gaining a new confidence in "Feeling the fear and doing it anyway!" It is amazing!

I have purchased the paperback book to complement the discs. Dr. Jeffers actually is reading the book on the compact discs...so having both allow me to have the option of choosing one or the other wherever I am.

The simplicity of Dr. Jeffers format is the best I have ever used. I have bought copies for two friends and my sister. Actually, all of us, at one time or another, are fearful of moving out of our "comfort zone" to grow. We do not grow without moving into areas that illicit some fear.

Hope you will give this book or set of CD's a try. It is well worth the time and purchase price.

Very informative book

I think this was a good book overall, but I wish I actually purchased the book instead of the CD's. The material is great, but it was hard for me to stay focused while the CD's were playing in my car.

I'm now encouraged to look for a class offered by Susan Jeffers.

Most of my family & friends fly by the seat of their pants financially with their children. This book reminds and clearly teaches strategies (at any incomne level) to raise children to be financially responsible, generous, and moral. It even touches on paying for chores, grades & when should you start allowance!!

It's a must have book! Great gift idea too. Remember the phrase "failing to plan, is planning to fail". You'll love this book!

Practical and helpful approaches to teaching healthy approaches to money and finances
Helpful Votes: 32 out of 32 total.
Review Date: 2005-08-16
Just as money issues become a source of heartache and conflict within marriages, it often becomes a wedge between parents and their children. Kids who grow up with highly charged attitudes towards money often have a hard time in managing their finances with larger goals in mind. Chaotic finances are too often a contributor to chaos and pain in personal lives, as well.

Eileen and Jon Gallo stress being an intelligent parent first. Communication, appropriate teaching, example, and trust are the basis of a sound parent-child bond. In this book, they stress teaching healthy attitudes and approaches to personal finance because too many lives get sidetracked when money is handled poorly.

Rather than providing a book of tips on building a financial empire or guiding your children into careers on Wall Street, this book is about everyday lives. It is for parents with children of any age, including adult children. And, especially, the authors stress that it is never too late to being. You will be better off starting now on improvement rather than regretting that you had not begun earlier and then letting tomorrow continue down the same painful road.

The book is built around eight sound and helpful steps:

1. Encourage a work ethic
2. Get your money stories straight
3. Facilitate financial reflection
4. Become a charitable family
5. Teach financial literacy
6. Be aware of the values you model
7. Moderate your extreme money tendencies
8. Talk about the tough topics

I especially like they way each of these principles is handled. Not only do the authors discuss each principle, they also provide help in approaches to understanding your own example and how to create teaching opportunities with your child. It is a very practical book. It also has a very supportive tone that focuses on lifting everyone involved in these exercises in improvement.

Money is a part of everyone's life and ignoring it will not make it go away but will almost certainly make circumstances worse. Bad news collects interest over time and becomes an ever larger problem that will eventually have to be solved. Better to start on the right path and keep things in a healthy mode with a positive perspective.

This book can be a real help.

I just finished reading this book and loved it! The concepts presented in this book really helped me figure out how to integrate the concepts of financial success with raising my child. I can't imagine a better gift to give my daughter than helping her to be financially responsible. Imagine how different the world would be if everybody read this and encouraged this behavior their children! Exactly the kind of inspiration I needed with a new child.

This is a great manual for success! 12 steps with understandable explanations and a fun writing style. Acronyms are used throughout to make the message clear and add a nice twist to how we remember things. I especially enjoyed how the author used real-life stories of successful people to illustrate his points. A short book, a quick read, full of valuable techniques to help you succeed. Use all of it, or part of it. Any small bite will feed your ambitions!

Creative and full of information!

This book invigorated me and touched my spirit. The author weaves acronyms, a system for success, and hundreds of quotes and facts from successful people we all know. I really enjoyed learning about famous and successful people who touched our lives because it empowered me and has made me feel that we all have the power to be successful, we all have the ability to be heros in our lives.

Jeff helps us to sort out confusion, disorganization, and the fear of failure that distracts most people from getting a GRIP on their dreams and goals. I love how the author plays with words by finding deeper meaning in the words we use everyday. The book is filled with acronyms to help us remember and understand the deeper meaning behind the words. Jeff's method organized me and helped me see INTO everyday words, it helped me focus more clearly on what needs to be done to achieve my goals.

The book is filled with quotes and facts about people we all know, presidents, sport ledgends, inventors, poets, musicians etc... Jeff pointed out their struggles and helped me see them as regular people like myself who succeeded either out of mistakes and failures or out of sheer determination and drive. After reading the book I felt that if these successful people can do it....so can I! Jeff made it sound reachable.

Making miss-takes (mistakes) are wonderful discoveries and insights! I love the quote from this book by Tom Watson, founder of IBM, "If you want to succeed, double your failure rate." Another quote from this book was from John Keats, " Failure is, in a sense, the highway to success."

Peter Jeff's INsight gives new meaning to everday words we use. His words get IN you. After you have read the book, you will know what it means to wear your BVDs in public. From now on I am wearing my BVDs in public! This book is very creative. It has added a lot to my life.

Energetic style - You will be compelled to take ACTION!

This book is very interesting. The Author seems to have great command of his profession and what it takes to establish sales along with clientel. The book is an easy read, at times is a little annectodal. I wish I could hear more detailed information regarding the world of business. That is my only negetive response to an otherwise outstanding book!! I would recommed this book to all of my friends!!

I expected less from this genre but was pleasantly surprised with its contents. Most books speak in their own language. "How To Be Happy, Successful & Rich" speaks in a language all can understand. Unlike most authors that talk to you, Reggie talks with you - which I found refreshing and unique. The books manages to be informative and fast paced at the same time. Implementation of its 21 guidelines should make anyone happy, successful & rich!

A "Bullet Train" Ride!

I first discovered the talents of Reggie Johnson in 1985 (Denver, Colorado) with his "How To Close More Customers" program (which helped our company put millions of dollars on the bottom line.) Years later I attended one of his seminars in Long Island, New York. Not only did I learn cutting edge management techniques; I found him to be an inspiring and motivational speaker. All in attendance left feeling we had witnessed a "Rock Star" (pardon the pun) in action!

A friend introduced me to his latest book, "How To Be Happy, Successful, And Rich". I was intrigued and excited to see how he had progressed since our last meeting. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. The book is written with slight "tongue in cheek". One would think that being happy, successful, and rich, are the same thing.

Mr. Johnson explains that some of the happiest people in the world are not rich and some of the richest people in the world are not happy. The same applies to being successful. I agree. Some examples could be Whitney Houston, Winona Ryder, Mike Tyson, and Sir Paul McCartney.

The book does a creditable job in defining the differences between all three areas. Most importantly, it shows how one can aspire and achieve each of them with some everyday common sense approaches. Be prepared for many surprises as it demonstrates most goals can be relative in nature.

My first criticism of "How To Be Happy, Successful And Rich" was the number of pages (eighty five), I wanted more. However, I have read books like "A Purpose Driven Life" and discovered after the first ten pages --the rest were repetitious. Other books like Tom Hopkins' How To Master the Art of Selling" would tell you the point it was going to make, make the point, and then tell you again the point made. While this technique gives you more pages, I found it redundant, unnecessary, and boring. Dale Carnegie was right when he said: "The best speeches are no more than five minutes long.!"

Mr. Johnson has written a refreshing book that is almost conversational in nature with very little redundancy. He gives twenty one steps (more than enough) to achieving one's goals. His anecdotes are inspiring, informative and motivational. In part two, page 43, (without revealing too much) he mentions "Do not accept the limitation of others". In this section is a story of a young woman whose son has been severely injured. The ending touched my heartstrings and left me shouting for joy! This part alone is worth the price of admission.

Those looking for a book filled with charts, diagrams, and statistics, will be discouraged. However, if you are looking for a good read that is entertaining, educational, and inspirational; you will not be disappointed.

This is a unique and pithy book. Many people (including, yours truly!) take a week to read a book and then forget most of it within two hours. One can read "How To Be Happy, Successful And Rich" in one day and retain enough information to last a lifetime. Like my first "Bullet Train" ride in Tokyo - I found it to be exciting, energizing, and exhilarating. Without hesitation I recommend it to one and all!

Collection of Mostly Average Essays
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-07-16
Compared to the essays found in the Princeton Review's law essay collection, I found the quality of these essays to be mostly average, a collection that emphasizes quantity over quality. While the Princeton Review book has many essays written by applicants who do a great job with little material to work with, this collection is filled with applicants who do an average job with a tremendous amount to work with. After looking at essays written by people who'd lived 15 years in China, or had 10 with the red cross, or was the most successful investment banker in the country, I didn't find much inspiration for my essay. In an essay boasting of fewer accomplishments, the author announces his dedication to public interest law without backing up his motivations with serious evidence - a cardinal sin in a field where 50% of polled applicants plan to practice public interest, but only 2-5% do from any given school.

There's lots of essays to work with here, but you really have to hunt to find anything useful. I recommend reading another book first, and if lacking ideas, look here.

There are excellent examples of different writing styles and topics, including several that I never would have considered. I am extremely grateful to have found this in time to write my own personal statement. It's the best investment I could have made.

Parental love for a child is one of the strongest emotional bonds. However, love alone does not guarantee a healthy, solid relationship or a happy, confident and well-adjusted child. And isn't that what you want the most? Dr. Frank Lawlis shows you how to channel your love so that you can be a successful parent. Each chapter focuses on one of the 10 steps Lawlis suggests to build, reshape and strengthen the bonds between you and your child. His steps include learning effective communication, managing behavioral challenges, and developing the ability to cooperate, heal and forgive. The book overflows with helpful quizzes, exercises and real-life examples, adding structure and life to his advice. Although Lawlis crafts his plan to fit a 90-day schedule, getAbstract suggests that parents seeking guidance concentrate on the chapters that address their specific concerns.

We all spend a lot of time talking about how to instill proper financial values in our children. This book gives you step-by-step advice on how to make that "talk" reality. The sections on how to use the world as your financial classroom and how to instill your personal values through consumerism were perfect for our young children. Perhaps the best part of the book is that it is written in an easy-to-read, easy-to-understand style. Anyone reading this book will be able to use and implement these ideas.
