Mother's Day Books

The picture here does not do the illustrations justice. They are uniquely, striking and moving. This artist is the Ansel Adams of Illustrations. Any child will be deeply moved and feel very loved, having this book read to them. The first person point of view of this book, is universal; thus, all children will feel as if it has been written especially for them.- it is a real feel-good little gem, appropriate as a gift from mother to child of ANY age:)

Just in time for Mothers Day! This book tracks 6 families of grandmothers, mothers, and adult daughters for almost a year and reports on their relationships, how they interacted, and pinpoints some important differences between those relationships that were satisfying and healthy with those that were less satisfying and less healthy.
At first I thought this book was going to be really academic, but it's not. It tells the story of the women across 3 generations in 6 families and points out some important things about how we should be interacting with our loved ones.

My husband helped our little one make a cute card for Mother's day. So much better than a store bought card!

This book is made up of short stories, partially true, which the author remembers from his childhood and later days. It is wonderful! He is a very amusing writer without being comical. He is 93 years young now and still writing with a sense of humor that will leave you smiling. My husband just finished it and he has a big smile on his face as he talks about it. I would highly recommend it.

My grandfather and William Kaufman were convalescing together as hospital roommates about six years ago. I visited every day and got to know Bill quite well; I've been close friends with him ever since. He lives on Long Island and gives readings of his stories every few months. I've had the extreme pleasure and edification of attending these events over the years. His mellifluous voice has been honeyed by decades of good living and his quick wit and insight into human psychology are astounding. His poignant, irreverent, and funny stories reanimate life from the early and mid-20th Century and present perspectives on morality, religion, and aging unprecedented in their eloquence. I'm recommending this book to everyone I know!

This is simply an outstanding collection of poetry on the feelings of love a mother feels for her child - whether that relationship is biological or adopted and ranging in age from a child in utero to a teenage child. It manages to accurately describe situations and emotions without the sappy "greeting card" prose you find all too often in poetry on motherhood and it also avoids the cynical, sarcastic and often caustic interpretations of motherhood found so frequently in modern literature. I highly recommend this book for new mothers and experienced mothers alike!

These plays are wonderful. I bought them on a whim and enjoyed them so much. I want to see them performed. I will be reading more of her plays in the future i really recomend this book to everyone. Dear Mrs. Martin is great.

I read this book to my children (ages 2 and 4) every night. It makes them feel safe and loved, which is exactly why I bought it. My husband is currently deployed in the military, and I have been assembling a library of books that reinforce the messages that Mom loves you, and there are many ways she shows it. I think this book is fantastic, and it has made bedtime wonderful!

Happy Mother's Day, Mami! tells the story of Dora finding the ingedients she needs in order to make a special Mother's Day cake for her Mami. There are 3 recipe cards laid out, and Dora asks the reader "Do you see the recipe card that has bananas, nuts, and chocolate?"

Dora doesn't have the needed ingredients, so with the help of trusty Map, she ventures to the Banana Grove, through the Nutty Forest, and finally arrives at the Chocolate Tree. Along the way, she encounters her friends Boots, Tico the squirrel, Benny the bull, and Isa the iguana...all who have created beautiful presents for their Mothers in celebration of El Dia de las Madres.

Of course, no Dora story would be complete without sneaky Swiper the fox trying to swipe something...and in this case, it's Isa's bouquet of flowers that she's about to give to her Mom for Mother's Day.

Dora brings back the needed ingredients, and her papi (father) helps mix the batter for the special cake. Mami thinks the cake tastes delicioso!

This fun story teaches children several Spanish words, including how to count one through six in Spanish. In fact, the inside front cover features a chart featuring 13 English words, the Spanish term, and the Spanish pronunciation of each.

At a time when quieter books for children are sadly few and far between, reading Ellen Jackson's EARTH MOTHER is especially rewarding. The illustrations illuminate her lyrical text, with phrases such as "a robe fringed with falling rain" and "placed a piece of summer in a flower's seed." Earth Mother smiling and walking on with no verbal response to the complaints from Man and Frog is as it should be, and my 4-year-old nodded along approvingly. She already knows, as Jackson does, that Earth Mother knows best.

I would recommend this book for anyone interested in sharing the beauty and wonder of the world with a child.

This book is such a delight!
I got an advanced copy and gave it to my mom.

It made her feel so special.
There are many exercises and quotes to help remind her,
how important she is to her kids, spouse and so many others.

It is so cutely illustrated.
Truly a celebration for all moms to have. On Mother's day and everyday.
