About eight months ago, I found this book and I have read it each day since then. I have found in this book, in the brief selections chosen for each day of the year, the heart of the gospel message - love, obedience, surrender. What Mother Teresa has written was for the Sisters of Charity who worked with her, but it is a message for everyone. I have read other books with selections from Mother Teresa, but this book, with its daily meditation format and its focus, has been the one that has most spoken to me. I think that I will be reading it for the rest of my life.
Caution: Spiritual Riches - Read slowly to digest well.

To read this meditation book at one sitting would be a grave injustice to the author, and probably give anyone who wasn't already a saint some kind of spiritual indigestion. Just a few lines, to read in the morning and consider the rest of the day, is the way to proceed here. Unlike the children's Christmas calendars, which run out of days, and surprises hidden behind paper windows, this book will give you a new treasure every day of the year. Don't wait until January first to start to read it. Start on any day, and don't peek at the next day. Then every day can be full of the delight and anticipation of Advent, all year long. Jesus, the Word to Be Spoken, is compiled by a Brother of the Word, which is the contemplative branch of the Missionaries of Charity for men, founded in 1977. The bonus is a copy of their Rule (Constitution), at the back of the book. These meditations follow the liturgical calendar, so the days of Lent, Easter, Advent and Christmas have appropriate thoughts and prayers. One more caution: Mother Teresa had several ambitions, and one of them was to help people become saints. So you've been warned. Don't be too surprised if you read this and start doing things you never expected to be doing.

My daughter is 10 months old and ADORES this book. She picks it up out of a stack of books and says, "Mama! Mama!" perhaps referring to the title. The illustrations have a subtle magic to them, and the words are so sweet and easy to read again and again. What a treasure.

My son loves anticipating the words that complete Ms. Ashman's clever rhymes (about mothers) in this lovely book. And as a mother, I appreciate the sentiments in the poem; the verses are meaningful and resonant without being cliched or artificially sweet. The ending is perfect, and gives us a happy, loving moment to share together every time we read this book. Already a favorite in our household, like several other books we treasure by this talented writer.

This lovely little book reflects a mother's love for her son. It's written with a real passion that I can relate to--and I'm sure any mother could. The rhythm of the language and the fun images make it perfect for babies and toddlers. I bought this last Valentine's Day when my son was 9 months old, and it's remained one of his favorites--right up there with Good Night Moon!

Mr. Grade paints with words a lively, personal look at Jewish life in the Jerusalem of Lithuania in the twilight of its existence. "My Mother's Sabbath Days" is written in a way that enables the reader to feel as if he or she is in Vilna with Mr. Grade. We share the burden of day to day life, the joy and peace of celebrating the Sabbath, and an unforgettable journey with the simple Jews of Vilna, right before the bloody tide of the Shoah swept into history this unique way of life in Eastern Europe.
This is a great book, a work of art, much more than a memoir

Grade is a brooding writer, but one who also writes with grace and humor. "My Mother's Sabbath Days" is a memoir in the same way that Jorge Semprun's "Literature or Life" is a memoir, or Proust's "Remembrance of Things Past." It is an artful recreation of a way of life, that is to say, a work of fiction in the most profound sense, a work that reproduces not only the surface of reallity, but its inner depths. Grade's reputation still lags far behind his deserts. He is certainly the equal of Isaac Bashevis Singer, but he recreates the world of Polish Jewry with less mockery and with a more brooding sense of tragic loss.

I would take this book with me if my house caught on fire. I keep it by my bed! This outstanding treasure of children's literature is a too well-kept secret--a captivating story for readers of all ages. A rare treat for the senses, its descriptions are so vivid the reader can feel the wind and breathe the air. A story of deep pathos--quiet, not high adventure, but with a main character who is completely endearing. A beautiful story which resonates the remarkable skill of it's Newbery-winning author.

While browsing through Amazon the title of this book
Caught my attention and I searched within for a peak.
Somehow it drew my deeper interests. So I ordered the book out of curiosity.
This story brought me to wonderful warm tears. It reminded me of the wonder of motherhood and the mysteries within. I was amazed that a man could write in such depth to touch gently the within of a woman. It was fantastic! I became attached to the baby telling the story as if it were my own and within my own womb. I felt once again the warmth of motherhood and the feelings which pregnancy brings
upon a mother and her bonding with the child growing inside. I laughed at the humor and was awed at the depth I was drawn to perceive. The author's ability to comprehend is dramatic and his perceptions right on.
The illustrations are child-like perceptions that of themselves also depicted a story. Mr. Vincents' use of art he created is heartfelt.
I recommend this book to all women and especially to
all carrying a blessing. I believe this book could easily
be used as a tutor for teenage children for sharing how and why children are conceived and arrive into this world. In a true and comforting way of sharing the answers all children one day ask of their parents.
ABSOLUTLEY A PRO-LIFE BOOK!
I admit, I have now read it at least four times through and still find warm tears and joy arrive each time. Wow!
I also have purchased and read Mr. Vincent's book Hray-Mah Jesus is Coming! My curiosity once more...This writing brought me to realize the Simplicity of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and I was a Christian before reading it, and feel now I am still a Christian but with new bright knowledge and perspective in what Jesus taught and shared to all humans. His book drew me to deeply read the Bible in desire of thirst for the truth, and I was amazed how the author enticed me to go read my own bible and read for myself the things Jesus left for each of us to easily discover. This was a great learning. I am looking forward to reading his other books. Clearly, this is Christianity as it was really meant to be: Simple and direct...and based only on Jesus Christ of Nazareth as our Lord Savior. Amen!

Wonderful book for mothers who may feel a lack of appreciation from their children!!! Written with humor, yet there is a great deal of realism that is easy to identify with. Quick and fun read--especially around Mother's Day when children may be at "odds" with one another!

The Runaway Mother is a Mothers' Day novel most mothers can relate to whether they are married or single . Carol Lynn Pearson spins a true-to-life tale about a mother named Alison. She is a mother of two children, Jamie and Melissa and she is divorced. The story is based on three straws that broke the camel's back and the last one caused her to take action to spite her children and give herself a Mother's Day weekend of a lifetime.
It is a tale how a mother who feels she has failed her children but in reality she has not. A crisis arises with the Mother's Day Program at church which brings Alison back to reality. She realizes her perfect neighbor Martha isn't so perfect after all. They discover they admire each other for their different strengths.
It is a depiction of Motherhood and how we all feel about ourselves and our children. It is a book to be cherished and read over and over again to remind us of how valued we are as women and Mothers. I highly recommend this book to all to read. It is a true keepsake book.
