Fun and Games Books

Really geared for 6 and under. Some ideas can be tweaked to fit older kids. Check it out at the library 1st to decide if it is a value to specific situations. But overall great ideas for beginners.

I have used this book a great deal for parties I have helped with. I have a back ground in food and it is a great pick.

We just got this book and we are already playing these games all of the time! The design of the book makes each game simple to understand, most of them don't need any special set up or props, and the activities are divided into age groups (2-7, 8-12, 13-15, 16+ and adult) But the book is about much more than fun activities, it is about a whole way of approaching life to find the joy in everyday situation (she includes activities to deal with getting dumped by a teenage boyfriend, on how to make important carrer choices, and on how to avoid the blues, even when they are the result of something very sad). One game I especially like is for ages 2-7, called "young ones" in the book. It is called Grouchy Food. The game is for when your child is grouchy or sad or in some other unplesant mood you say to them "Hmm, you look like you are in a grouchy mood today, I better adjust the lunch menu so you can eat what grouchy people eat. What do grouchy people eat, anyway? Worms, probably." Then you make spagehetti (we added food die until it was brown). The author notes that sad people sometimes need a little blue food coloring in their eggs, "lots of water to drink so they have extra for their tears," and "gental" pudding for dessert. How could any kid stay upset after that?! According to Barbara Sher laughter is an "organic, free, all-natural blues buster" and you and your kids will find plenty to laugh about with this book on hand.

This book really helped my son. He has a problem with tests sometimes and this was a great source of help.

What a fun book! Not just an ordinary trivia book. The puzzle format of the book makes it very entertaining and really exercises those brain cells. Questions invoke knowlege of films, music, actors, and fictional characters from different genres and decades. My daughter and I had fun working on the puzzles together; she's especially good with current trivia! The music and TV trivia questions were my personal favorites.

I love the true Jumble puzzles and am so grateful I can purchase them through Amazon! Keep 'em coming!

Parents, teachers, and children enjoy the poetry activities and poems for each sound letter relationship. Here are two more books which don't come with instructions but they are enjoyable opportunities to apply the concepts especially for children who like horses and cats.

Just what I needed to revamp my classroom. This is the first time I have taught in literacy centers, and this book is an immense help. There is so much out there for primary grades and literacy groups...but not for intermiediate grades. Took a while to put it all together, but hopefully, it will last me for years. Many thanks.

I totally LOVE this product. They are time consuming to make up BUT well worth it.Once the centers are made up, they are easy to maintain. I would highly suggest laminating the pieces. I did and they have held up very well. My students loved doing them. I would recommend for any teachers. Many times I used these as a reward for getting work done in class early. Students were able to pick what they wanted to do after completing their assignments.

The take it to your seat books have all been great & the kids seem to especially enjoy this one. I needed something hands-on for my 6 year old but my 4.5 year old just loves the activities as well. There are 14 different activities inside, quite easy to just tear out & prepare. I used brown paper bage to glue each cover to, the instructions I glued on the back of the bag and placed the cut out material for the activity inside. I put the whole lot in a free choice box for them to choose from and I find them regularly pulling out several of the bags to do - they really enjoy them and it reinforces the maths concept in a concrete way. The illustrations are attractive and a good size. My eldest really likes the self-check answer gauges on the back of each game & it frees me up to do other things if needed. I prepared the whole book of activities in one afternoon. Well worth the money and have bought more from the series.
