I read this with my 3 year old son, and he adored it! We've had it out of the library at least 12 times, and have decided
to buy our own copy. It is well-written and realistically-illustrated, with an emphasis on safety, rules and respecting
the police. Mom figures largely, also! I recommend this to anyone with a child who is a motorcycle nut; the endpages have
neat illustrations of the parts of a motorcycle!

Muggie Maggie is the nickname of a girl named Maggie Schultz. She thought she would never learn how to write in handwriting.
One day, she actually explained to her dad that she plans to use the computer and type everything up. Her dad just said that
she that she wasn't taking cursive seriously. I am not saying what happens next because I recommend this book to everyone.
I recommend this book for three reasons. The first reason is because this book is great for people who had or have the same
problem as Maggie. The second reason is because this book is short. The third reason is because the book has a theme: never
give up.

i read this book when i was younger, and i liked it so much that i reread it again. it's a cute story about a girl, maggie,
who doesn't want to learn cursive. her teacher lets her not learn cursive and appoints her offical class mail messenger.
knowing that maggie is very snoppy and will want to read all the mail she delivers, the teacher writes the messages in cursive.
then maggie begins to think that some of the mail is about her! now if she wants to find out what everyone is saying about
her, she will need to learn cursive. will maggie learn, or will she never know what is being written. a cute story and nice
lesson about not giving up just because the task proves a bit difficult.

Muggie Maggie is about a girl named Maggie who does not want to write cursive. Her teacher, mom and dad try to make her do it
but she still refuses to do it.But once she haers people all over the school talking about her she makes herself write it.This
book makes me feel sad in a way.It makes me sad because she refuses to right cursive and because it took her that long to
write it.I reccomend this book because she had someing that she couldn't do and some people have the same thing and I want
some kid to know that there are other kids like them even if they aren't real.

through. This book is about a very curious girl named Ramona Quimby. Ramona has a lot of suprises. She also has a new member

Ramona reminded me of myself when I was a little girl. She does things that most kids only think of doing because they are
afraid to get into trouble. I love the reality aspect that Beverly Cleary brings to the story. Not only does Ramona LA
Chinche take me back in time, it allows future generations of kids to see that they aren't the only ones to think up some
of the crazy stunts that Ramona pulls off. This story is a hilarious page turner from the very beginning! I'd recommend
it to any school teacher and, of course, all students. What a great read!

I had one of these journals when I was a little girl. Being an avid fan of Beverly Cleary and Ramona Quimby, my mom bought
me one and I LOVED it. Actually, when I filled one of them up I begged her to get me another! It is filled with blank pages
and also quotes from the Ramona books that help a young girl think about things to write about. It was a great first journal
for me and I plan to buy one for each of my two neices (I might buy an extra for myself!) Two thumbs up for this one!

Is there *anyone* on the planet who doesn't like Beverly Cleary's books and the wonderful characters she created?
Beezus and Ramona (along with Henry Huggins and the rest of the gang on Klikitak Street) were part of my childhood. 40 years later, they were just as appealing to my own son. And don't tell anyone -- although we bought these audiobooks when he was about 8, at 12 he still likes to put these on ocassionally and listen. Why? In large part because of Stockard Channing's masterful performance here. Her rendition of Ramona is EXACTLY how we imagine this impish little creature would talk.
I highly recommend these books, both because of the delightful stories and characters that Mrs. Clearly created for us, and because Stockard Channing has brought them to life so perfectly here. The stories are reminiscent of simpler times and will take parents back to their own childhoods while providing toddlers to tweens with good, wholesome entertainment.
We listened on road trips, and unlike certain kids entertainment (a certain purple dinosaur comes to mind), you won't want the kids to wear headphones to preserve your sanity. You'll want it on the main speakers for everyone in the car to enjoy.
Five stars!

I cannot think of this book without deep fondness. If you let it, this is one of those books that can change your life. It's
honest and innocent all at once, and Cleary does an incredible job of capturing the mood of a boy going through a confusing
time of friends and family. His only outlet is a series of letters to his favorite author.
What begins as a school assignment becomes a relationship (even though we are granted only Leigh's perspective) that is personal and makes you appreciate the wonderful people that are out there.
The best thing about this is watching Leigh grow as a character and learn to deal with the ups and downs of his life.

Lee is a lonely little boy dealing with his parents' divorce. He begins a correspondence with his favorite author, Mr. Henshaw.
This letter writing helps Lee understand himself better.
I read this to my classes every year when we are learning about letter writing. It is a powerful novel that kids can relate to.

I just finished reading a book called "Dear Mr.Henshaw". I think that it's just a waist of time writing letters. Some characters
in the story are Leigh Botss, Mr.henshaw and Biscuit the dog. I think it's really interesting book. I liked the book because
it's easy to read the book. It is no that complicated to read I also loved it because. It's too funny sad, and boring at times.
I also thought that I would hate the book. But, once I opened and read it, I loved it so much. I also loved it because my
friend recommended this book to me. I think the book is interesting to read.

The book I am reviewing is written by Beverly Cleary. It is a great book named Dear Mr. Henshaw. It is a book about a boy
named Leigh Botts, he writes letters to his favorite author Mr.Henshaw. He writes about many of his problems such as his parents'
divorce and trouble at school. I think this book deserves four stars because I like reading about realistic problems and people.
I recommend this book to people who like realistic fiction in grades 3-5. Beverly Cleary also writes many stories like Ramona
the Pest and Mouse and the motorcycle.

My son is 7 and an advanced reader, but he doesn't pick up a book for fun--until we checked this one out of the library. Now
he is interested in all Beverly Cleary books. This classic from my childhood (the first Cleary book I ever read too) still
holds up. The interactions between Ralph and Keith are realistic and sweet, Ralph's adventures on the motorcycle are thrilling,
and the world inside the hotel is vivid. While my son still prefers my reading this to him, he has wanted to read a chapter
here and there. This is a wonderful, charming introduction to Cleary and a good start as a first chapter book.
A classic of the purity of imagination and heart

I can't remember the last time I read this. I figured it was simple enough to read to my class of 1st graders and sure enough
we were soon all in love with the story (though I believe that this is more of a boy book).
It is more than a story about a mouse who uses a human boy for his toy motorcycle. It has a great message of courage, responsibility, and friendship. Ralph is a fascinating character and you come to feel everything he feels. His thoughts are suprisingly deep and thus his courage is wonderful.
This is not one of those little stories that puts a tiny little critter in a situation a normal human would find terrifying. Here we deal with the horrors of owls, vacuums, waste baskets, and the forbidden ground floor of the hotel where Ralph lives. Even so, they become scary and one cannot imagine how Ralph will survive.
An utter classic. Everyone should read it.

After purchasing The Mouse and the Motorcycle for a long road trip with my 7-year-old granddaughter, I can't say enough about
the story or about the reader, B.D. Wong. While there is at least one other audio version available, Wong is absolutely superb
in his rendering of the characters and noises. We rode absolutely enchanted by Cleary's story and Wong's interpretation of
it. Although the long road trip is over, my granddaughter still requests that I play The Mouse and the Motorcycle when she
rides with me. This will be a favorite of your children and grandchildren. In fact, when I'm invited to book showers for
babies, this is one of the gifts I present. It will become an all-time favorite, I guarantee it!

First off, let me tell you that I really liked this book. It was a little old fashion because it was writen in the 1950's,
but it still had the same meaning.
Anyway, this book is about a girl, Jane, and her wanting to meet a boy very much. She keeps telling herself that she will meet this hansome boy thats around 16 and, they will fall madly in love. Well, it does happen for her, but just not in that order. She meets a boy while baby-siting for a little girl. They start to go out, but then he doean't ask her to the first high school dance. She is very hurt, but then he tells her its just one big mistake. Its really just about a girl going through her teenage years.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Great work from Beverly Cleary!!! Two thumbs up!! Read this book!!!

Jane Purdy is a girl who really just isn't noticed like Marcy Strokes, who is known by all. While Marcy is going around with
boys in converertibles, Jane is babysitting. Jane dreams of the day when she has a boy to take her to dances and the movies.
One who is not too short to let Jane wear highheels and is old enough to drive.
That day feels like it will never come, but it does sooner than she thinks.
One day, Jane was at her wits end while is babysitting a little girl who was about to spill a bottle of permant ink on a white designer rug. Totally unexpected, the boy of Jane's dreams walks through the door. Through finding a boy Jane finds herself.
The dating style of a 15 yr. old in the 1950's is very different from dating today. This is a incredibly clean romance for preteens. But like most of Cleary's work there are dull and boring parts which want to make you put the book down. I would recommend this book if you like a very girly story.
