This book is wonderful....reading it is like talking to a good friend about holiday traditions. There are ideas for homemade gifts such as pancake mix, cookies in a jar, ornaments, and keepsakes. The recipes sound delicious and include items like an edible cookie bowl, Granny's Pot Roast, Caramel Apple Crisp, and Snickerdoodles. Build a fire, grab some hot cocoa, make some homemade gifts, and cook up some warm food for your family....this one is a hit!

I ordered these activity books for my kids' farm-themed birthday party (ages 2 and 4). I was tired of plastic junk party favors and thought these would be better gifts for our guests. My 4 year old has been enjoying her book and it's a great quiet-time activity. The stickers are the biggest draw, obviously, but she enjoys the drawing and connecting-type exercises as well. A great buy for $3.50!

We've purchased other Play and Learn sticker activity books for our little girl. She loves them all. This one is no exception. Our daughter is 3. The activities in these books seem just right for her. She really enjoys finding where the stickers should go. The stickers are good quality and are big enough for her to handle.

My 6 yr old got this for his birthday and really enjoys the puzzles. He's an advanced reader for his age, and has had no problems with the level 1 and 2 puzzles. He sometimes needs help figuring out what to do with the stage 3 puzzles, but then he does them well. We plan on getting more books from this series as he finishes them.

I bought this book a couple of months ago for our daughter,Rachel, who is now almost 10 months old. She has enjoyed it every read. The animal photos and the text, which allows you to read the sound each animal makes, never fails to bring a smile or a giggle. It is very durable, she has gotten it into her mouth a couple of times ,and its held up well. It is a delightful book.

This beautifully illustrated story book is more than just an funny tale. Outline drawings of the key words are replaced with colored stickers and the word to help children learn to read. This book is just as suitable for children learning to talk as those learning to read. Each page has a hidden duck which helps little ones with their powers of obsevation. My 18 month daughter just giggled with delight each time she found the duck and received her "I found the Duck" reward sticker, and she learned quite a few new words as we worked through the stickers. Now, six weeks later she still enjoys reading the story book. I liked it so well I'll probably buy all the books in this series.

Informative and Instructive Book for Quilters

_Let's Make a Patchwork Quilt - using a variety of sampler blocks_ Farm Journal Inc., Copyright 1980), by Jessie MacDonald and Marian H. Shafer not only provides clear, concise directions for creating popular quilt blocks, but is also informative on the history of quilts and quilting.

Coming from a family where Great-Grandma's Star of Bethlehem quilt is a cherished heirloom, and numerous baby quilts are now being used by a 2nd and 3rd generation of children, quilts are important to me. However, neither my mother nor I ever learned to quilt. When I decided to try to make my own quilt for family picnics, etc., I looked for a resource, as Great-Grandma and her knowledge are now gone.

After weeks of looking, on-line, in bookstores, and at the library, I finally came across this well-worn volume. The patterns are clear, and the instructions are concise, neither overly-simplified nor too complex.

The authors also do not make the assumption that you'll want to start on a large project immediately. Instead, they take you through a variety of blocks, which can easily be put together into a sampler quilt. Of course, if you're like me, you'll have already decided to try one of each block shown, which will provide me with enough blocks for a queen-sized quilt.

My first quilt is only in the beginning stages, and I must go back to the library to renew the loan of this book. If you find a copy in somebody's garage sale, or look for it through out-of-print sources, it will be worth every penny!

The collaborative project of Tony and June Burns, Scroll Saw Farm Puzzles presents and showcases twenty-six easy-to-cut, do-it-yourself patterns for crafted, three-dimensional, large wooden jigsaw puzzles featuring an American barnyard scene. The pieces put together a farmer and his wife, various animals including pigs, cows, sheep, and lambs, a tractor, an outhouse, a barn and much more. Each individual project is cut from common wood, and is composed of 3 or 4 pieces with interlocking cuts. A delightful woodworking project, with instructions for getting started and tips and techniques for staining and painting the puzzles, Scroll Saw Farm Puzzles is a terrific addition to any weekend woodworker's project reference shelf.

What a wonderful book! Most of the animals are in fake fur, which makes them look better than fabric. The animals are mostly farm animals, but the rooster, pig, and donkey will win your heart. There is a Scottie dog with long fur that looks absolutely real. The dolls are gorgeous and have details like a fake fur beard on grampa. There is a giant "TV horse" for children to sit on that is stunning, with beautiful colors and patterns for saddle and bridle. There is a squirrel that also looks real. I also love the furry bunny or puppy slippers and the long haired ape. Good instructions, wonderful things.
