A true documentation of facts.
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 1998-03-30
While visiting Castlebar, County Mayo, compiling facts about the history of Ireland, I had the opportunity to meet Anne and her husband. This book is well written, in excellant form with accurate documentation of facts about a near extinction of the Fitzgerald clan. Each chapter holds the reader spellbound and with anxiety to get to the conclusion as soon as possible.

Evangelism as a Process

Review Date: 2005-11-04
I had the opportunity to edit this book in the production process. Dub does an effective job communicating evangelism as a process in a postmodern generation.

Going for the Beehive is a effective tool to help the person committed to sharing the gospel through relationships, or the person who wants to impact the world one friendship at a time, rather than by a "wham bam" approach to sharing good news.

Awesome reference book with real strategies that work!
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 1998-06-30
This is a great reference book for anyone considering part-time and even for those that are already doing it. I have worked both part-time and in a job-share and this topic is a passion of mine. I find the information in the book helpful, accurate, objective and well-balanced. It's presented in a positive fashion - not like an unrealisic fantasy - more like "if you want it bad enough you can get it, but you need to be persistent, open-minded and creative - and here are some strategies that really work." The book spans different industries and professions, which brings even more ideas to the table. The interviews and real life experiences are both inspiring and comforting.

I searched high and low for a study guide for Bloody chamber in the UK for my daughter AS exams. I eventually found this on the USA Amazon, and it is just perfect for her. It gives her the opportunity to see other educated opinions of Angela carter, which she can add to her school study programme notes. I think this can only help her to improve her grade.

A delight for pianists
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2004-06-07
This music went through a long period of being little known, but is gradually being rediscovered. And it's a good thing, since listeners who know these works consider them to include some of the finest music of the entire Classical period. For instance, Charles Rosen, in his excellent book _The Classical Style_, devotes an entire admiring chapter to these trios.

The amateur pianist will find that with a few exceptions the music is not all that hard to play. Haydn wrote these works primarily as piano music, with the violin only occasionally taking a solo, and the cello hardly ever. This compositional style has been taken as a basis for criticism of the work, but in fact, music for piano with other instruments "obbligato" was quite common in Haydn's day--for instance, Mozart's violin sonatas work the same way. In event, the consequence of this piano-dominance is that as an amateur pianist you can enjoy playing these works even if you can't find friends who play violin or cello to help you out.

As for this Dover edition, it has the usual great virtue of Dover reprints (very low price), and the defect of it being a reprint of a rather old, now out-of-copyright edition. The other defect is that it only includes about half of the mature Haydn piano trios, and omits equally fine ones. I'd really like to see Dover issue the others as well.

Great Concertos For The Cello
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2003-08-30
Three great cello concertos are included in this edition, with perhaps the Dvorak concerto being the best ever written for the instrument.

Dover's edition is put together well. Clear printing, score lays flat, and once again, how can you beat the price? Recommended for anyone that loves these concertos and wants to learn more about them.

A Great Presentation of Great 20th Century Violin Concertos
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2000-12-06
This excellent set of scores, published by Dover, brings Dover's consummate work at a reasonable price. The editors do a marvelous job of staying true to the original text from which their reprints are derived. The print is clear, and the staves are nice and distinct. (The only concern maybe that too much erasing could permanently wipe off the ink on the page.) Instruments are clearly labled and numberings of key pts. in the concerti help a lot. I highly recommend this book to any music enthusiast, and especially to all violinists who are playing, or will play, any of these great violin concerti.
