Spending time searching the web and digging in the CFRs has consumed many hours of my time. The 2000 OSHA Handbook has made search time evaporate. It's not all the needed information but most of it in my business. It's all those little things you miss looking at the large paragraphs in the CFRs. I would reccommend this book to anyone involved in worker safety. From the worker to the manager.

Haven't seen this one yet as it is a gift have have others in the series. These are really interesting videos. These are standard computer CD's. Each one has a menu of various locations or scenes. When you select a scene the computer displays a picture of the site from an artificially wide angle. This warps the view slightly but you get used to it. The picture will then pan around 360 degrees. You can also manually change the view. The image is essentially 360 degrees laterally and vertically so you can point image anywhere you want in any direction. No part of the camera or any equipment appear in any picture. Its as if you were standing at the location and could look up or down or around as you please. The photography is excellent. If they make enough of these you wonder if you'll ever have to actually go and see for yourself.

A Spooky Good educational read!!!!!

Catherine Chambers, does a marvelous job of tying all the origins of this superstitious holiday together in an entertaining format. It explains the birth of traditions of All Hallow's Eve, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day in Europe, Latin America and the influences upon them in early North American culture. How a ritual of warding off evil spirits and the harbringers of the dark winter evolved into a festival of ghosts and goblins called Halloween! Find out how legitimate pranksters were appeased by the giving of treats during the holiday that soon became a well loved tradition. Overall, a great read for kids and adults as well!

Say goodbye to 501 Spanish Verbs!
Helpful Votes: 18 out of 18 total.
Review Date: 2003-06-24
First as a student of Spanish, and now as a Spanish teacher, at the secondary and college level, I have seen a lot of books about verbs. Like most beginning students, I bought 501 Spanish Verbs, and by the end of my first semester of college Spanish, I had already outgrown that limited book. In Spain, I found a fantastic book, Conjugación de los verbos: Manual Práctico (ISBN: 84-7640-891-9), but alas, the book is in Spanish, which limits its usefulness to beginning students.

All Spanish Verbs combines the usefulness of a 501 Spanish Verbs, with full verb conjugations, general rules of conjugation in the beginning, as well as tips on usual phrases, with the extended verb list of Conjugación.... What limits 501 Spanish Verbs is that there are 501 and only 501 verbs conjugated. In contrast, All Spanish Verbs provides models for the conjugation of every single paradigm you could encounter, and has an index with thousands upon thousands (I can't find my copy to give you the exact number) of verbs listed, with a reference to the fully conjugated verb that it conjugates like. For example, let's say you want to conjugate "mindanguear" (okay, not the most useful of verbs, but maybe you need to use it) and you look it up in 501... and the verb is not there. You're out of luck. With All Spanish Verbs... on the other hand, you see that mindanguear is not conjugated, but it is found in the index, and it is indexed to verb number 1--the model, basic -ar verb. You now know that this verb is conjugated perfectly regularly.

For the very early beginner, 501 Spanish Verbs might be a better choice, because it contains the 501 most frequent verbs you'll need to use, and for the first year of high school Spanish or the first semester of college Spanish, this might be sufficient. But if you have any language background and are comfortable with the idea of conjugating verbs, skip that book, and go straight to this one. Furthermore, if you think you will ever continue with Spanish, you will eventually need this kind of book.

Another advantage: since not as many verbs are conjugated fully, the book is nice and skinny, easy to stick in your briefcase or bookbag and carry everywhere with you!

Excellent. Happy little bedtime story about an altruistic and resourceful little girl. Lyrical book with pretty illustrations, it is ideal for little girls. I think it is part of a series, but I have never read the others. My mom found it at a book sale, I loved it as a child and my daughters love it too!

Indispensable Reference Guide

"American Piano Trios", by Arno Drucker, belongs in the library of every music school in the country and on the bookshelf (sandwiched between Cobbett's and Groves) of every educator and serious music lover. This is a book of astonishing thoroughness and scholarship. Who could guess that the heritage of AMERICAN chamber music - in this case, Piano Trios - would be so vast and sumptuous.

I knew Samuel Barlow in New York many years ago, but I had no idea that he was a composer, much less a composer of a piano trio and an opera, Mon Ami Pierrot, which "was the first by an American to be produced at the Opera Comique in Paris (1935)." Hundreds of American composers, from Samuel Adler to Ellen Zwilich, are listed with some fascinating biographical sketches and descriptions of their music. There are names, addresses, and in some cases, Web sites, of virtually every piano trio active today.

Arno Drucker has blessed us, those of us who are passionate about chamber music, with an indispensable resource guide.

Annie Chambers; Kansas City Madam

Review Date: 1997-08-07
Lenore Carrol's fictional autobiography of ninteenth century Kansas City Madam Annie Chambers traces her life from the 1850's through her death in the 1920's. A blind charity case, having given up her disorderly house to a local mission, Annie recounts from her rocking chair the wide open days of Kansas City. A heartfelt look at one infamous woman. The book is flavored with well researched local history combined with what seems a true social sense of the time. Annie matter of factly describes the day to day existence for a woman in "the life". Less prosaic episodes describe Annie's personal erotic odyssey. Not for Senator Helms, more for Newt. Lenore Caroll fills the pages with a quick, seemingly transparent style that hypnotically evokes the memories of a life. She is a great writer, and this is a great book. Hopefully "Annie" will be back in print soon.

This book is an excellent reference guide for the experienced and inexperienced production economist. The last chapter is essentially a recap of the other six chapters, so if you're short on time, that's all you need. But, reading the first six will give a better idea of what he's really talking about. I recommend it highly.
