For anyone who collects wine antiques, has discovered a wine antique, or a dealer who has found one, this is a "must have" resource. Butler and Walking have thoroughly covered the wide range of wine antiques, silver, glass and much more. The emphasis is Georgian, but there is so much more. This is the best base reference for the wide field of wine antiques and a must have for anyone who has an interest in the field, whether a collector, student or dealer.

Bordello

Savannah Lullaby Knight is a widow. She is very independent minded and also the madam of the La Hibicus Rogue Bordello, which she inherited after the death of her husband. She is close to her family and is known in society and therefore keeps her connection to the bordello a secret. She helps women to escape abusive husbands.

Napoleon Falconer is a strong independent man who runs a shipping and antique business. He also finds missing daughters and wives for a price. He is new to New Orleans and his mother is a very good friend of Savannah's.

Savannah and Napoleon were instantly attracted to each other from the minute they met. Savannah fought the attraction in the beginning because their beliefs are on opposite sides when it comes to run away wives and her secrets. Napoleon is hired to find someone Savannah is hiding; and Savannah is determined to protect her. With secrets to reveal, betrayals to forgive and having to learn to trust each other, do they have a chance of being together?

Bordello is a wonderful love story. I enjoyed visiting 1893 New Orleans and following Napoleon and Savannah as they navigate the traitorous road to love. This story is full of emotion and intensity. It has lots of laughs and a few sad moments. It is a wonderful read that I fully enjoyed.

Bottom-Line Call Center Management: Creating a Culture of Accountability and Excellent Customer Service (Improving Human Performance)

A hands-on guide to customer running customer call centers
Helpful Votes: 14 out of 15 total.
Review Date: 2004-05-20
Until recently, customer call centers were very much back-end operations, out of site and out of the minds of corporate chiefs. That was before several recent high-profile fiascos in the US, UK and Australia, where badly-run call centers destroyed in a few months the customer goodwill that had been expensively built up over years.

It doesn't have to be that way. David Butler shows how call centers can be a bottom-line asset to companies, not just a money sink. It cites, for example, the case of a highly cost-effective center in the south-west United States with an annual employee turnover of under 3% and (if I guess the real identity of the company correctly) many happy repeat customers, including myself.

David Butler owns a call center management company and is a recognized expert on the subject. "Bottom-Line Call Center Management" contains detailed information on where best to locate new call centers, how to evaluate and implement new call center technology, how to calculate the value of a call center in dollar terms, and how to create an environment that will attract and retain a loyal and productive staff.

For those of us on the customer side of the business, Dr Butler stresses the need to ensure that representatives are familiar with the products they support or sell. Call center representatives, just like all customer-facing staff, need to understand how customers use the company products and services. If representatives can't articulate product knowledge and understand customer concerns, they really are just a "cost center" and, as the author repeatedly warns, are in danger of having their jobs eliminated or sent abroad. That represents a disaster to their communities and a financial loss to the companies that employed them.

"Every man in this country who holds office, whether Executive, Judicial or Legislative, whether under the National Government or any of the State Governments, is bound by oath to support the Constitution of the United States."
This is the opening of the preface for this book. A book published in 1873, before women were allowed to vote, but it still rings true. And as he says later...'how many of all that number have ever read the Constitution?"
This copy of the Constitution ends with Article XV Right of Suffrage adapted in 1870.

The handiest tool in the business research inventory.

As an economic analyst I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW MUCH THE MARKET NEEDS THIS BOOK. I thought I was well prepared to do research, but... my experience was, ask any manager or business student questions about business references and 95% of them responded with "don't know". PERHAPS YOU'RE SMARTER THAN THE REST, WANT TO TRY SOME EASY ONES?? What, for example, is the difference between Standard & Poors and Moodys? In what reference book can you find a bio on Bill Gates? What is the single journal in the US that specializes on China, one of the fastest growing economies in the world? What reference book will show you how many men's athletic shoes were manufactured in the US last year? What reference work will show which was consumed more in 1997: beer, milk,or coffee? Where can you find the CIA's economic profile of Germany? OK, How many of you got all of the questions right? Thought so.....

This is not a trivia game. Rather, Butler has issued a call to arms for business schools in the US and Europe to heed. Most business people and students do not know where to look for business information. The easy answer is the web. But it's the wrong answer in the sense that haphazard searches can be long, frustrating and empty if you don't know where to look. For example: Want an immediate profile of a company in the US or Europe, that tells you who's in charge, where they are located, what their history is, and how they are doing financially? Answer: Go to Hoover's Online, or a hardcopy in the library. Butler's book will tell you about Hoover's, Directories, Almanacs, Encyclopedias, Government Publications, International publications, Industry and Trade Magazines, Databases, Newspapers, etc. His "Reference Navigator" shows you how to immediately get to the web address, use the e-mail and find the database. He gives you a two-page description, an ACTUAL SAMPLE of the TABLE OF CONTENTS of the publication, plus an ACTUAL SAMPLE PAGE from the publication.

In my opinion, no business professor, student, investor, or analyst WHO THINKS SERIOUSLY ABOUT THEIR CAREER should be without this book. BUY IT! You can see it online at McGraw-Hill's Higher Education Website: www.MHHE.com/Butler

If you don't believe me listen to what Irving R. Levine (former Chief Economics Correspondent for NBC News) said: "Dr. Butler has skillfully undertaken the role of Sherpa on the treacherous slopes of the mountains of available business data and he guides the reader with precision and even a generous ration of wit. The problem for anyone doing research in the Information Age is not a lack of information, but rather how to target the information required for a particular project and how to get to it quickly. That's what this book accomplishes."

THE DEBUT OF THE LONG AWAITED BUTLER

Well worth the wait, as i felt the characters all fell in place. It was filled with laughter, a bit sadness, and I felt a sense of joy when the character 'Rick' was put to rest after he was told many times to let go of his hold on Shawn. It was an easy read and one I feel will be honored in any Book Club setting. I rate this book 'Top 5' and if there was anything higher, it would definitely get my vote.
