This book is fun for reader and child. My 16-month-old was squealing with delight as I turn each page. He's especially partial
to frogs and there's a great tree frog in this book. Mom needs to learn how to make some of the sounds but it's well worth
it to hear my little one so excited! Thanks for an awesome book Mr. Butler!

animals he introduces in his books!

I greatly enjoyed this book which taught me a lot about both caves and mythology. It is written in a delightful, humorous
and literate style and gradually casts a spell on one. I will never think of caves the same way again - the author shows how
they are full of wonders and magic.
Fascinating, educational and evocative!

Well-known author Dr Hal G. P. Colebatch gives us a fascinating literary tour through the great stories of caves, covering
the ancient myths and legends of dwarves, kolbolds and trolls in the Underworld as well great caves scenes in adventure novels
and some scientific anthropoloyy and speleology, all written in a clear style and with many touches of humor. As well as scientific
and literary information, Colebatch can evoke the magic of the underground, of faerie and the Celtic, Norse, Teutonic and
classical myths.
The distinguished Australian naturalist and television star Harry Butler provides a foreword.
I would recommend this book for many reasons. It is fun, educational and a delight to read. Parents will also find it an excellent way to introduce their children to some of the great classics of adventure writing, such as "King Solomon's Mines,", "She," "The Coral Island", "The Swiss Family Robinson," and more modern works like "The Inheriors" and "The Clan of the Cave Bear," and the lovers of the great works of J. R. R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" the works of c. S. Lewis and Count Tolstoy's modern masterrpiece about Merlin, "The Coming of the King" may find their appreciation of these mighty tales enhanced (Many of Colebatch's own stories in the science-fiction series "The Man-Kzin Wars) also take place in caves).
For the tourist, it also gives a guide to many of the great and spectacular caves of the world.
There is also some information on cave conservation, and a strange true story about some great caves north of Perth, Western Australia - said to be among the greatest and most spectacular in the world - which were found and explored early in the last century, but whose entrances have now apparently disappeared under shifting sands.
For anyone who has an interest in the underground, this book will prove a delight and a treasure. Dr Colebatch was awarded an Australian Centenary Medal in 2003 for writing and this book must add to his reputation.

Jean-Michel is an intelligent, somewhat down-in-the-heels professor of French manners, mores, and the movers who espoused
them. To make money he agrees to teach a young American would-be tour guide, a female Charly. European culture and snobbery
meet American brashness and snobbery. The two characters are well balanced and witty; and the potential for romance is in
the air.
As tutor, guide, and mentor, Jean-Michel introduces Charly to a variety of people. Colonel deMonteaux exposes her to his Napoleon, a man with warts as well as the conqueror. Jean-Michel's nephew Guy is studying Monet and is all too willing to show off to the young attractive American.
Butler has a keen ear for dialect and nuance. His humor both of language and of character will leave the reader smiling and chuckling. I recommend pgs. 75-78 as indicative of both language and humor.
Provocative and entertaining, here is a book with depth and life, a book which holds up to re-reading.

CAVORTING WITH STRANGERS: GREAT IDEAS AND THEIR CHAMPIONS - PARIS tells of one Charly Brooks, who takes a job as a Paris tour
guide and who must learn about French culture and history to hold her position. Her probe into French history, ironies and
inconsistencies carries readers through the major personalities and figures of French culture and is a key to understanding
the French: it reads with quotes, drama and fictional embellishment but is nonfiction at its best.

This is a great novel. Jimmie Butler can tell a story with great action and suspense, yet with precision and uncanny accuracy
of detail. It could only be told this well by someone who was there, speaking from his own experience. I also was there,
but only now have I gained a perspective of that bitter war over the Ho Chi Minh trail I never realized through all these
ensuing years. I wish to have had this insight during my combat tour; I would have been a better FAC. Great job, Colonel!
Your description of the NVA perspective is fascinating.

I had heard about this comic from a parent of one of my Middle School students. As an English teacher and massive comic nerd,
I found The Badger Vol. 1 to be simply delightful. The semi-anti-super hero, his druid sorcerer boss, and a female quack make
for an interesting trio. Humorous, exciting, and thought provoking. I highly recommend this trade to anyone who likes a good
comic.

This is a great reprint of a great book, original in content, great in artwork, intelligent in writing. Looking for a standard

story line, full of quips, one liners, different takes, and martial arts mayhem? This is your baby.

What an amazing woman! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Jeanne Foster, and it brought back many memories of my early years
in the "north country" before I retired and moved to Florida. The authors winter here in Venice, and they have given many
interesting talks in the area about Foster and her famous friends, displaying diaries, actual letters to Foster from people
like Ford Madox Ford and Ezra Pound, and drawings of her by William Butler Yeats's father. Recommended for lovers of biography
and great stories.

and sweetness. I wish I could have known this person called Jeanne Robert Foster.

Slug-testing is the quickest and most cost-effective way of characterizing aquifer characteristics, and this book straightforwardly
and concisely discusses the theory, performance, and analysis of the test methods most commonly used today. Planning of
multi-test programs is also discussed, as are the limitations of each method and of slug testing in general. Whether in the
fields of academia, consulting, planning, or exploration, in the public, private, or government sectors, this book is sine
qua non for the practicing hydrogeologist.

The Design, Performance, and Analysis of Slug Tests is a text which walks the reader through all the necessary steps for obtaining
information about the transmissive nature of formations through slug testing. Butler gives not only a theoretical understanding
of the slug test in this book, but he also gives many caveats and pitfalls which may be encountered when using the method.
Butler explains to the reader which field methods and analysis methods are best suited for various situations. He also gives
special reccomendations for formations of high and low hydraulic conductivity. This book is not meant to be read from cover
to cover, but is an excellent reference for the field hydrogeologist. The topic is limited in scope - a fact which allows
the coverage of the material to be superb.
