Burns Books

Another great book by Mr Burns! Well written, easy to understand. Wonderful photos. The history is a big plus for me too. Explains a lot in a small package! Another book I wouldn't trade for the world! A must have for the carnival collector to gain an invaluable insight into the specific houses & how they relate to each other.

I have purchased 2 of these books, 1 with maps and one with no mape. I want to know if the used one for sale by jenwelch2 used has the maps in the back of the book. I want to purchase this for a friend and need the book with the maps.

On Page 419 Under Base Development line 13 it should read of the six only IHEYA and KUNE were taken. I landed on Iheya.

I gather the author wrote of his sailing adventures with the help of his significant other, Sandra Burns. They did what most of us only dream about -- left the security of job and home bound for foreign ports aboard a 40' sailboat. They sailed for several years. This book is a wonderful expose' of their sailing adventures in Mexican waters aboard "Abrazo II", an Acapulco 40 Cutter. "Boulevard" is without a doubt the best adventure book ever written about Mexico. It is a tribute to the authors' inimitable flair, as well as to the culture they experienced during their voyage. This book should be on the shelf of every sailor plying Mexican waters, and those dreaming about it

I met Kay Washer in the middle of Africa in 1990. I was a young Peace Corp Volunteer at the time. Kay is by far one of the most inspirational and devoted people I've ever met. I wish I had been there a few years earlier to meet Dallas. Never the less, the Blind Center of Kpalime was an inspiration to everyone. Her foundation of love and devotion changed lives of those in the center, those working at the center and those who paid visit to the center. Between the years of 1990-1992, I visited frequently and one day would love to visit again. Truly, you can see the hand of God working through those devoted to the blind children of Togo, Africa.

Having served over 4 years hard time as an employee in an institution of higher learning, I really appreciated both the humor and politics of this book. One book of a small series, it is set in a fictitious private liberal arts college in Texas. In additional to the murder(s), faculty vs "the administration" plays a large role in the plots of the books in this series.

As the youth coordinator for a new youth ministry, I searched for a while to find a devotional which met my standards. I desired a devotional that was brief enough to give to a young Christian, yet personal enough that it could challenge my more advanced students.

I am pleased to say that I found this devotional to fit the bill. It is written so it does not alienate new believers and has questions that ask purposeful questions even of my most spiritually-apt youth. It is a good devotional, and I recommend it for any young person who is seeking a way to look at the basic beliefs of Christianity.

In this book, Burns and Farris break down complex drum rhythms into simple rudimental patterns. It is amazing how simple it is to learn some challenging beats such as the samba, salsa, or difficult funk and jazz patterns by using this approach. The basic concept is to first learn the pattern on the snare then apply it to the kit. And it works!

For me, this book was a breakthrough to a whole new level of playing. Highly recommended!

This is an excellent book that can improve how we meet the needs of all students. We have found that, before teachers implement any of the parallels, that professional development is critical.

The two authors of Parents Guide ..., have a knowledge of teen, families and the subjects this book covers in depth.The first 1/4th of this book discusses dysfunctional families and how family life has changed over the years. Insightfully written, the reader is made aware of the risks faced by the family unit nowdays. Topics covered in the middle 2/4th of this book are: sex, substance abuse, suicide, satanism, homosexuality, aids, pornography, runaways, and eating disorders. Each chapeter gives personal experiences of teens, well documented stitistical information about the subject, and what can be done as a parent for their teen. The last 1/4 of this book provides some well grounded, useful advise for parents in dealing with these situations. I finished this book feeling, not overwhelmed at the vastness of the problem, but, feeling like there was an answer. "Hope for parents who think they've failed" gave real spiritual insight and comfort; knowing it is never hopeless. An exceptionally well written book, useful not just for parents, but, for people who counsel parents and youth.

Pastoral politics pulls back the sheet on church cover-ups.....of why their preacher left. Too long now pious talk has obscured why preachers really leave their pastorates. This book has done what others failed to do--i.e. to get to the bottom of what goes on behind church board doors. It is constructive despite the fact it uncovers grizzly negativity. It provides a history of clerical closures minus those detailed sleeze cases in the secular presses. It provides a good background in dealing with pastor/people conflicts because it explains, historicallly and spiritually, where the rubs develop and how a little ointment can get the machinery running again without damage. It is a fast and interesting read on top of that. A book to be read and shared.
