Well written, well researched and able to keep the readers interest - rare for a book on Scientology. Found my copy in a local second hand bookstore...

I am 18. I read this book after I saw it gathering dust on a back shelf at my school library. Dr. Evans is an extremely talented writer, his intellect and humour make the book a page turner- I read the book in just four days- and in the realm of academic/nonfiction/informational books, thats quite a rare feat.

A MUST read for anybody with an interest in Scientology or new age religious phenomena.

Aerobics for your head, less ideological than one expects.

Review Date: 1998-07-18
Upon first reading, skepticism looms overhead, fat black rainclouds of doubt shadow the land. The ray of sun is: that no single opinion dominates this book, that it is refreshingly diverse. Anarchists in this volume emerge as political freethinkers, people of a courageous honesty who debate and exchange powerful ideas on the topics concerning social beings. When closing the book, wonder is in the wind...one ponders Mencken's germane analogy of politics to religion and the poplular participation of the masses in the exercise of control.

For Anyone with an Interest in the Intellectual History of American Libertarianism
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-29
This book is a collection of articles from Benjamin Tucker's magazine, _Liberty_. The entirety of Liberty's contents has since been made freely available online, but for those who are just interested in reading a representative sample, by way of introduction, or who might be more comfortable reading ink on paper, then the anthology contained in this book will certainly fit the bill.

The articles are broken down by subject, and cover such topics as the political theory of anarchism (and how it compares to Marxism and Liberalism), the "labor problem", free banking, intellectual property, free love, children, and various ideas on acceptable tactics for spreading anarchist ideas. Anyone confused by the notion of "Libertarian Socialism" will find plenty of food for thought in these pages.

Aside from Tucker, some of the other writers include John Beverley Robinson, Victor Yarros, John Badcock Jr., Gertrude B. Kelly, and Joseph A. Labadie.

PROFOUND!

As above, so below, as within, so without, as in ancient times, so now.

Although Campbell's writing is sometimes convoluted, and/or grammatically wanting in some cases, the message, with sparse but extremely informative illustrations is a fascinating spiral of affinities between mysteries, between nations, between eons, ad infinitum. The message is not only read, but it is absorbed by osmosis.

For anyone who desires to know more about Joseph Campbell's philosophy, read this book -- whatever is not totally understood will still not detract from the final outcome -- your "aha!" moments far outweigh the concentration necessary to complete this short but concentrated tome.

I've taught Intermediate Algebra for the past 5 years, and this is the best Intermediate Algebra text I've ever seen. The sections are clearly organized with many more worked examples than in most textbooks. The problems sets are excellent also. You won't find anything better in Intermediate Algebra: I've seen the rest, GO WITH McKEAGUE CAUSE HE'S THE BEST!

An easy to follow guide for mastering Algebra.

Excelent text for the private pilot to be.
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.

A clear and concise approach to the essential information necessary for the student pilot. I often referred to this book during my training. It gives clear and well explained examples utilizing real world aviation problems. The section on weather is excellent for primary training as well as a reference.

This book covers all topics relevant to private pilot training without beating any subject to death. The excellent graphics and pictorial examples help to make semingly complex topics simple. I think this book is an indispensable resource for any student pilot. Particularly useful is the section on cross country flight planning which brings all of the stages of flight planning together in a good example of a cross country flight.

Very effective learning tool

I have been self studying aviation and all that it entails for some time now. Initially started buying all sorts of reading material. Soon learned I could spend a small fortune in just books alone. Some aren't very good, others are strictly technical, in short not what I needed.

This book may seem pricey to the uninitiated; don't let it throw you. The information provided under one cover is very concise and intuitive. It is not meant to be the end to all study and info gathering. Yet, it touches on most areas of flight knowledge. You'll learn how to use and interpret the E6-B flight computer, how a good flight plan is put together, FAR's, AIM...and just what are all those charts associated with navigation? Not meant to be the final word on knowledge, you'll also be provided with references to other publications and reading material.

I think you'll agree.

LOVED IT

i love this book and i recommend it, it has lots of action. and i love matt and jade they are great characters. i do have one problems. The way the Indians were portrayed in the book is awful. i know they had good reason to hate the white people, i might not agree that its honorable to kill a white man to bring yourself honor. but my problem was that they showed the indians as if they were ALL savages and that is NOT true. in the book all the indians worked together against the whites, and there were many indians who were peaceful and did not fight whites unless they were attacked by them. It doesnt matter your sex or race there are bad people in all colors just as there are bad indians there are bad whites and blacks. your color has nothing to do with it. But despite the unfair way the indians were portrayed it was a great bok

Jade Carrington was not left with much choice when one of the King's men attacked her. She knew the only way to defend herself was to kill her attacker. Now Jade must face her punishment. She was to be auctioned as a slave.

Matthew Hunter knew that he would pay whatever it took to win Jade. Unfortunately, Matt was not the only one that wanted Jade. The Frenchman that Matt outbid had every intention of having Jade whether he won the auction or not. Matt and Jade rode deep into the wilderness where they not only had to stay hidden from the Frenchman, but also from the Indians who were planning an attack of the white people.

Matt and Jade face many dangers as the struggle to survive in the wilderness and at the hands of the enemies. Their strength, honor, and love get them through the worst. The story of Matt and Jade is about survival and so much more. The danger keeps you on edge from page to page. This is a book I do not hesitate to recommend.

Java books nowadays tend to be mammoths. You nearly break your arm lifting them off the shelf. But Paul Wang's rather slender book still packs a wallop and delivers excellent content in tons of very readable examples. You'll learn about neat, arcane topics like using Java to write CGI server programs and all sorts of things about network sockets. There are very few errors and the typefonts are especially large and readable. The only detraction, which isn't Dr. Wang's fault, is that the cover is too thin and flexible. This wonderful book deserves a hardcover!

This book is NOT for everyone; it is for fans of TRUTH, of a candid, straightforward approach to life,Mormonism, and History of the West, Utah, and religion-religious organizations.
Juanits Brooks may well go down as the most honest LDS author EVER, and this book chronicles her life: what brought her to the point and the process involved in writing the book (2 editions) that brought the MMM out of darkness. May her memory live in the hearts of honest men & women forever.

Levi S. Peterson has done a remarkable job of researching and collating an enormous amount of material in revealing the wonderful life and career of a magnificent lady. Juanita Brooks, in her own right, was a premier writer of Mormon Utah and environs, who represented the very best in objective reporting in an environment that can be rather reserved. Dr. Levi Peterson, Professor of English at Weber State University in Utah brings Juanita Brooks to all of us who have admired her for so very many years. Professor Peterson has made a marvelous contribution to the autobiographical literature of historical writing, showing the best in organization and leading the reader onward, and onward with great anticipation to the next sentence, and the next. It is as wonderful an account of a worthy life as I have ever read!
