Sirene's Song is a new romance novel by Hallie Bingham, the author's first novel in this genre.

Sirene is the stage name of brilliant, beautiful Russian concert pianist, Tatiana. She is highly successful, with a worldwide following. But there is a dark presence menacing her, something mysterious from her past, a frightening voice on the phone, sinister shadowy figures surrounding her. Who holds such a dangerous grudge against the beautiful musician? Why?

While performing in Tokyo she meets Ryan, a star baseball player from Colorado. Ryan is on vacation in Japan and thinks he is starving to death because the only food he can find is raw fish. His travel agent has provided him with tickets to cultural events, Sirene's recital is one, but he chooses to skip the music and attend the reception only, hoping to find real meat and potatoes. Poor Ryan. More raw fish. Romance is the last thing on his mind but then he sees Sirene and is immediately smitten, momentarily forgetting his stomach. He approaches her but she is cool to him and he doesn't handle rejection from the fairer sex well so he acts rudely to her, she slaps him and stalks away.

But he can't forget her. And she can't forget him. And the chase begins. It is a fun one, filled with danger, intrigue, surprises, humor and romance. Can these two strong egos find a way to live with one another? Will Ryan be able to save Tatiana from the dangers pursuing her?

While this book falls within the genre of a romance novel, it is so well written and tightly plotted it will appeal to those who don't ordinarily read romance novels. The characters are finely drawn and complement one another beauifully. The writing is clean and flows smoothly from chapter to chapter and the love scenes are, quite frankly HOT HOT HOT. They seem to be written by someone who knows what it is to make love, not just have sex. One word of cautious, the love scenes are so hot it's my advise to have your significant other with you when you read the love scenes.

Sirene's Song is a book with appeal for anyone who is in love, who has ever been in love, or who longs to be in love again.
Order it now. It's a wonderful read.

I had a look at several books from this series in the reference section of my library. The information from all meshed with that I found in other sources. It's all introductory material, as would be expected from such a series, but includes beliefs of many groups rather than focusing only on the most well-known ones. As such I've new things to look into that I hadn't yet come across in several weeks of research. The cross-referencing in entries was useful as well, pointing at even more new things.

A well-written, worthwhile entry for the erotica genre

Maybe it's because I've become jaded by the whole genre. Erotic fiction for women (even by women) that I've read in the past seemed to be a dreary, boring procession of sex scenes loosely taped together with the flimsiest of plots, usually involving the submissive female finding herself in some secret sex society.
Then I saw Southern Spirits in my local bookstore.
The cover stood out for me: a rich sunset-red and jet black, sweltering and steamy. And the back cover blurb offered more enticement, a storyline mixing mystery, the paranormal, and what sounded like a strong, appealing character in Catalina Montoya. As I bought it and began reading it, I could see the scenes clearly in my head and hear the dialogue - the one thing I can't abide with some writers is their tendency to try and show off, using a hundred words when a few are better - and they kept me turning the pages, as I got involved with Catalina, her gorgeous-sounding secret agent partner Nathan (think Mulder and Scully via certain fanfic website stories), and the third point in the triangle, a Southern gentleman crook called Jack Wheeler (who as I was reading reminded me of Richard Gere), and their adventures on a haunted train full of swingers and secrets.
This book could work even without the sex scenes in it - that's how strong it all holds together. As it is, the sex was a smorgasbord of indoor and outdoor encounters, twosomes, threesomes and orgies, straight, bi-female and lesbian - and one scene where the heroine is willingly strapped down by her partner and...
And you're going to have to get the book and read the rest. The author deserves that much.

The Stewart Kingdom of Scotland 1371-1603 by Caroline Bingham is a great book about the rise of the Stewart Dynasty of Scotland before they assume the English throne. The first chapter paves the way for the Norman Conquest and the rise of the High Stewards or Stewarts to the victory of Robert the Bruce. Then Walter the 6th High Steward marries Margery Bruce. Their son becomes King Robert II first Stewart King of Scotland. The second chapter explains the path of Robert II and Robert III who reigned in name but Scotland was ruled by Robert Duke of Albany and his family. Then with there downfall a chapter is dedicated to each King James. James I returns from captivity in England and attempting to reassert himself over his nobles and leading to his ultimate murder. Then James II who asserts himself by reducing the power of the Black Douglases through murder and continues the policies of his father which ultimately leads to his death from an exploding canon during the siege of Roxburgh. James III is not the warrior but more of an artist and possible [...]. He rules well but favors his low born Male favorites gaining the displeasure of his nobles leading to their rebellion using his heir and leading to his ultimate murder. James IV proves to be a great monarch continuing to subdue his wayward nobles and the highlands. His pride is his ultimate downfall and he falls in battle on the fields of Flodden against the English. James V falls under the sway of the Douglas branch of Angus who attempt to spoil and ruin James but he ultimately asserts his power and attempts to rule well be ultimately dies young and disappointed leaving illegitimate sons who stir up trouble for his legitimate daughter the tragic Queen Mary of Scots. The chapter on Mary is short and reviews all the highlights of the infamous life of the Queen of Scots. Then the final chapter shows the development and rise of James VI and his impact on Scotland ending just as Elizabeth I dies and James becomes King James I of England leaving Scotland behind. This book doesn't go to deep into the weeds but shows the strengths and weaknesses of this colorful yet tragic dynasty impacted Scottish politics for over 15 generations and held the throne of Scotland for over 300 years. This book is a nice review of the early Stewart dynasty which is often overshadowed by the even more tragic and colorful Stuart version of the dynasty in England. This is a great book for the Scottish historian and Stewart Dynasty fan.

This book is a 20!

This is a pen and book process. It asks questions, gives activities and planning guides.

The first part teaches the definition of self-esteem and helps you evaluate your own upbringing and the attitudes you learned as a child that--even though you say you won't--you'll teach your daughter.

It shows you how what you say and DO will help her develop a `Hardy Personality'. It gives a stage by stage strategy for raising a `identity achieved' daughter.

But it isn't just a here's-how-to-do-it book. You develop your own plan for raising your daughter, and part of it is how you will change your own behavior to achieve it.

The authors say: Think of this book as "Raising a Daughter 101". Yep. That's what it is. I just wish I had this 30 years ago when my daughter was an infant, instead of my granddaughter.

But don't give up hope--even if your daughter is a teenager (or 30 like mine) there's a lot to learn in this wonderful book.

Last year, I trained and ran a half marathon. Injured myself in the process by going too far too soon - plantar fasciitis. This time I am (hopefully) wiser and going slower with my training this time around. Thank goodness for the practical advice and programs offered in this book. I am following the full marathon program offered for running/walking. So far, so good. This book is a read and follow for any planning on running, walking or running/walking a long distance race!

TRANSGRESSIONS is the best set of short stories I've ever read. The stories are moving and tender, and told with grace and insight. They also address a topic that many novelists leave by the wayside, namely how older people deal with love and relationships. Still, the stories appeal and give hope not only to an older audience but also to the young, as we can't help but wonder if our passions will become as wrinkled as our faces in that far-off day when we grow old. I loved these stories so much that I bought the collection for my mother and grandmother for Christmas. They're amazing--read them for yourself!

We just can't get enough of DK books! We love the pictures of the orcas, and dolphins! It also has a section on other marine mammals, including seals and otters! Very informative, and a great addition to our library! My son is 7, and autistic, and loves, loves, loves animals. This is simple enough for him to understand, and he devours every little bit of information he can! :) A best bet, you won't regret getting this book!
