This book is regarded as the ultimate reference guide on Southern African butterflies, and not without reason. It contains an excess of 800 plates, covering virtually every species and subspecies of the region. Every family, genus and species are discussed in detail. Easy references between plates and descriptions are an added bonus. It was not intended as a taxanomic work though, and mostly discusses localities where specific specimens have been netted or spotted. The reputation of the authors adds authenticity. It is an absolutely brilliant book; indispensible for any serious lepidopterist or mere enthusiast. The hardcover version even makes for a great coffee table item.

This is a great reference book that any body in the industry should have.

It was a pleasure to read Dr.Friedman's book.He uses in it some modern mathematical concepts("informally")such as bounded symmetric domains,homogeneous balls,Lie groups and algebras,etc for building physical models(special relativity theory,quantum mechanics,electromagnetic theory).
The book is not an easy reading but everything is there for its understanding and the effort is amply rewarded.It seems
that Dr.Friedman delivers on his promise that expirience with concepts such as bounded symmetric domains,homogeneous balls etc. can be beneficial in other areas of research of intrest to a reader.

As a physical education teacher I found this book very helpful for pickle-Ball strategy, study guides, written tests and skill analysis formats. A nice addition to one's physical eduation library!!

The exercises are clearly presented and range in complexity from simple to challenging. Some offer excellent review for those experienced in matt Pilates while others create new challenges. Highly recommended for the beginner and the experienced. The execution of the printing is very good, and the quality binding should make this soft covered book last a long time.

I attended college with Bill at SIUE. I read most of what he wrote there for the school paper, the Alestle. His was, hands down, the most popular column on campus and always had that "personal" touch, which you can still see in his columns today.

This book is a GREAT read. Each story is very well-written and so involved. Yet it takes just a short time to read each. It's wonderful to have handy when you want to kill just a few minuites reading (e.g., commercials during your favorite TV show).

I've always enjoyed reading Bill's stuff and this book is no exception.
