The book of Revelation made easy to understand

The book of Revelation is often avoided by many Christians including Pastors because of it's difficult passages & seemingly hidden meanings. Yet in Dr. Bailey's book these seemingly obscure areas become illuminated. In easy to understand language the author sheds light on this very important Bible book. Dr. Bailey takes the reader through the book verse by verse explaining each one. Emphasis is given to linking the truths found in Revealtion to other books in the Bible. The reader is clearly shown that the seeds of Revelation are found in Genesis and continue throughout the Bible. In this fashion this book becomes much easier to comprehend as these important links are made.

This book will challenge the most ardent Bible scholar yet is simple enough for any layman to understand. In these days of fast moving change and increased interest in where it all fits in Bible prophecy, Dr. Bailey's book helps us to see what the end time events will be and the order in which certain things must take place.

It is important that Christians understand the book of Revelation and that Pastors are willing and able to teach it to their congregations. As Dr. Bailey points out, the book of Revelation is the only book in the Bible with a blessing pronounced on those who read it (Rev. 1:3).

After reading Dr. Bailey's book I have a much better undersanding of the book of Revelation. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a greater insight into this Bible book.

Revival: An Anthology Of Black Canadian Writing, deftly compiled and edited by literary critic and journalist Donna Bailey Nurse, is an inherently interesting and informatively diverse introduction to the engaging dynamics of twenty-nine contemporary black Canadian writers. Educating its readers on the history and particulars of the cultural influence and timely contribution of Canadian blacks and their progression through a duration of barriers, Revival ably presents the development and expression of black Canadian writing, including themes, motifs, the communities from which it arose, and the exuberant intricacies of adaptation and cultural diversity, drawing from an extraordinary collection of writings, fiction, poetry, memoir, and prose, exclusively found in black Canadian culture. Revival is very highly recommended to all students of the Canadian culture, and most particularly those with an interest in Canadian literature.

It's Depressing

But, given the fact that the subject matter is a downer, it's a remarkably entertaining read. Mr. Elliott's knowledge of his subject matter is both deep and wide, and correctly lays much of the blame for the problem of youthful suicides where it clearly belongs: At the feet of those who romanticize this most dreadful, dismal and damaging of all human acts; the so-called Romantic Poets, and, compellingly, the funeral industry, which since the Civil War has presented a G-rated version of the results of young people buying into these cockamamie fantasies of "noble misunderstood suffering poetic-types."
Mr. Elliott forcefully argues that the best cure is a dose of reality, while providing examples of the real impact on surviving friends and family members.

Rex Bailey takes young readers to Edwards Air Force Base where he is test pilot wringing out the Air Force's secret stealth bomber. An excellent book for any child or juvenille interested in flying. It tells the story of a young boy with a dream of flying and the hard work and studying it took to make the dream a reality. A great look into the life of a real test pilot providing motivation for a young reader to set high goals and academic standards. Well written for a young child with captivating photos both in and out of the cockpit of the B-2 and other Air Force Aircraft. A great addition to any public school library.

I love this book for the strong heroine River-Song and the fresh look at Indian life. It happens before their lifestyle was altered by whites and really celebrates their love of the valley and all its resources. The description is great and the story is full of tension: first River-Song is afraid she'll loose her father. She's already at odds with her best friend. They have to compete at the summer games, and they're both trying to impress the same man for marriage. She sees some people in a new light (including the man she thought she wanted to marry) and realizes many things about her own life are changing. More conflict comes when a group of braves comes to their valley, looking for a new place to live. River-Song becomes close with their leader and you'll have to read that part of the story for yourself! These men are peaceful, but soon hostile warriors follow. There's action and adventure, and a little romance, but it's appropriate for younger readers. I think it's a great book that about any reader can enjoy.

It isn't often that you find a book that's credible history and can't-put-down reading, but this tale of upstate New York murderer Edward Rulloff is both. If you liked The Professor and the Madman or The Devil in the White City, you'll love this one.

Bailey Rolls On

A few years ago, when I was visiting London, I was given a copy of Bill Bailey's first book, "Taping Whores." I was introduced to a marvelous new character called "Haug." He reminded me of a modern day Phillip Marlowe. Through Haug, I met a whole string of fascinating characters that pulled me through an often deliciously violent, spicily sexual, politically intricate plot. As I zoomed through the pages, I slowly became aware this writer was much more than a slick storyteller. The words he was writing sounded as good out loud as inside my head. Even more, I frequently was lead to putting down the book and thinking in depth about the twists and turns of the plot. It was like peeling back the layers of an onion. Each layer revealed an even more thoughtful point. Since then, I have read both "Split Infinities" and "Rolling Thunder" and found each one to be a next step both in the stories and in the writer's evolution of politcal thought. When you both laugh out loud and think in depth while reading a book, it's time to get the word out. This guy is a fine writer, and he needs to be encouraged to write more.
Visiting Bill Bailey's personal website, I discovered there are two more books in the "Haug Quintet" waiting to be published! Let's get them out quick. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I loved this book, it was easy and simple to read, which is what you need when you are in emotional and physical turmoil and do not have the energy or the inclination to fathom a book. It taught me what I needed to know, and it helped , I felt calmer and more self contained. It can be used as a lifestyle guide by anyone whether or not you suffer from M.E. All the more remarkable that such a wise and gentle book was born out of such darkness. I do not understand how the healing process Elizabeth describes works , but it does, and I am one of lifes skeptics about many alternative things , but this therapy is something else and this book gives a simple and clear introduction to using it.

the most astonishing autobiography I ever read
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2001-07-13
This book is one volume in a series of books that form the autobiography of Ved Mehta. Mehta started with two biographies of his mother and father (Mamaji and Daddyji) and then started to write about his own life. It's an astonishing, deeply moving story of a boy gone blind at a very early age, who goes to America to study, and later to England (Oxford) and Harvard, to become a staff writer for The New Yorker. It's a shame and a disgrace that most of these books are out of print, because I consider them as Great Literature. He not only tells his own life, he also gives you insight into different cultures (starting with the lives of his mother and father, who had a totally different background, then the separation of India and Pakistan, then the difference between East and West, and finally between America and Europe). Warning: If you read one part of his autobiography, you'll want to read them all!
