The adventures of Stevie and her friend Jesse and the stray dog they adopt and their efforts to discover the identity of the Prankster who is terrorizing Vancouver made me laugh so hard I had to wipe the tears away. The story also kept me guessing.A great choice for kids who want a short and funny read.

The title might lead your expectations down a different road, but this book is truly a gem for cooks and non-cooks alike. It's a cookbook with recipes, yes, but what makes it special is the family stories that surround the creation and consumption of each. Morris' conversational tone paints vivid images of a tight-knit family and how integral food is in expressing their love for one another and their roots.

Beyond the stories are recipes that are easy to make, fun to create and delicious to eat. You haven't lived until you've tried Maw Maw's West Virginia Funeral Cake. Dee-lish.

As a southern girl living in California, this cookbook included some recipes I never expected to ever see in print. From family reunions to Fellowship Dinner at my grandmother's little Southern Baptist church, the book and the stories warmed my heart... or is that heartburn?

Whether you're a Southerner or just enjoy some unpretentious time in the kitchen, this book is a gem.

I am a mother and a school teacher. And, this book as well as other of the "Bailey City Monster" and "The Bailey School Kids", books are great for all ages. I have shared these books with others and given many away as gifts to friends and family. When you read these books, you can think of students that you know and children who remind you of each of the characters. I just wish that I knew where I could get a brooch like Mrs. Jeepers!

Paul Bailey does an excellant job of breaking down a very complex process of achieving excellence. Every person, organization and institution that has "excellence" in it's mission statement must read this book. Paul Bailey articulates thought provoking messages everyday that will bring you one day closer to what it takes to achieve excellence.

You'll be glad you spent your time...

366 Days of Excellence is an outstanding book about character and personal growth. Its author, Paul Bailey, speaks to the terrific challenges we all face in our families, jobs, and relationships. The book is founded on Five Pillars of Excellence: Character, Direction, Discipline, Relationships, and Leadership.

The heart of the book is 366 "daily reflections". Based on the Five Pillars, Bailey's reflections are simple (but not easy) lessons for examining the way in which we conduct ourselves. Each serves as a guidepost for achieving personal, team, or organizational improvement. The lessons are effective, common- sense messages; they are an improvement on other "self-help" publications in that they offer straightforward solutions to fundamental problems. They are proof that a book need not be difficult or prolonged to be very, very successful.

The book makes no promises. It only offers a recipe of sorts for what we all want: a better existence. It will challenge you to explore your behavior and define your beliefs. It will be a really good resource for managers and executives; probably a better tool for Mom and Dad.

Excellent academic book about the leopard. Accurate and well structurated. If you are looking for a book with precise information about leopards and not merely a collection of photos, then buy it. A must to have.

The major book on oils and fats available to date
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2005-12-31
This book consists of a set of 5 volumes, each dedicated to different topics and each written by a different group of authors. Unavoidably this has led to much repetition, but the biggest weakness of the book is the absence of a common index for all the volumes in the end. One often has to make quesses and search several volumes to find what one wants and even then one may not find all the information there is in it. There are also differences between the authors in the quality of their writing and the brilliance of the late A.E.Bailey who wrote the original classic masterpiece is definitely absent. I also thought there were not suficient physical data for chemical engineers working on oils and fats and primary oleochemical derivatives, biodiesel etc. Nevertheless, the sheer size of this book, makes it easily the most comprehensive single source of information on oils and fats available today. For this reason, it is a necessary posession for any library on oils and fats worthy of its name.

The definitive text covering edible and industrial oils.

A five volume set, much expanded over previous editions, to cover the latest processing technology as well as the latest developments in oilseeds. This is the definitive text that covers fats and oils, composition, processing and equipment, edible products, industrial products and derivatives (e.g. soap.) The only drawbacks are that there is no common index to all volumes and that there is a great deal of valuable information which is not findable through the index (i.e. one must actually READ the sections to unearth valuable facts and bits of information.)

I have followed Justin Matott's career for some time and have delighted in his books for both adults and children. This new adventure into board books for the very young is delightful. It teaches about the five senses while delighting the reader with illustrations so vibrant and colorful. The team of Matott and Staud is a good one and I hope they do more of these books in the future.
