Taxes Books

As a tax attorney, I always kept this book next to my Code and other key reference books. I now use the book when teaching tax to accounting students. It is comprehensive but easy to understand and very well organized. I recommend it highly.

Even if you don't care a whit about the specific flat-tax proposals that prompted the publication of this book, it's still a very worthwhile introduction to taxes. There are some chapters of background on taxes, and they're a nice introduction to the subject. I read those chapters to get my feet wet for a tax law class, and it was extremely useful. It only took a few hours, and I'm not a speed reader.

This 10th edition of the Fundamentals of Federal Income Taxation by Freeland is well organized and complete. You'll spend many wonderful hours deciphering and mastering the exciting and stimulating tax code of this great country of ours. The perfect book to curl up with in front of a roaring fire. Enjoy!

I'm using this book for an Energy Accounting course. Though I have not yet finished going through it, so far has been a good source for those who wants to get an early exposure into the accounting side of the energy industry, especially oil and gas. With only basic knowldedge of finacial and managerial accounting that I took a couple of years ago, I find that the text is not too confusing to follow. It may also due to the way the author(s) present the materials as well as the flow of it. It also provides plenty of examples. Overall, it's a pretty neat text.

Groo is a barbarian's barbarian: muscular, an expert swordsman, and incredibly *less* intelligent that his faithful canine companion, Rufferto. When certain people realize what a moneymaker Groo can be for them (Morose the Undertaker, the King who raises taxes to increase the army, merchants who supply the army with supplies, etc.), they begin to love him. However, when Groo realizes that killing people has made him unpopular with most people, he vows to never kill again. Disaster! Morose and the King need a new target for the war machine, and strangely, Groo turns out to be just as deadly when honoring vow!

This is a very funny graphic novel. The artwork, which reminded me a lot of the old Mad Magazine issues, caught my eye, and the story kept me reading. If you want a funny, light-hearted (and light-headed) read, then this book is for you!

Recommended for anyone who wants to implement long-term tax strategies to reduce or eliminate their tax liabilities. Long-term strategies require careful planning, and Schnepper's historical and legal approach will show you the advantages and pitfalls of various tax strategies.

Comprehensive guide to tax deductions and tax credits. As the subtitle says, this book covers "every tax break the IRS allows." Author Jeff Schnepper focuses exclusively on tax planning. This book is not to be used to help you prepare your tax return.

Schnepper organizes his material historically, which may be good or bad depending on your tastes. His discussion of a particular tax item proceeds through various tax laws, noting changes in the law or various tax court cases. The current information will always be towards the end of a particular section.

Ideal for all practioners and advanced students. It certainly helps one to become familiar with the tax planning environment. There is one weekness though: it does not address the new ways of doing business trough new technologies (e-commerce, e-business)and the related problems for international taxation that emerge from there. In spite of that, one must say that its very good book that enrichs the debate.

This book was a required book for a Class on the Internet Economy. It was a quick read that gave a good over of the topic. The professor has us read other sources online to supplement the book's content. With the fast pace of the Internet, it is kind of hard to write a book and have it stay relevant for any length of time. A few topics in the book seemed outdated, mostly because there was no way for the author to predict the effect of the dot.com fallout. Overall, it was a good book, and if you are required to read it, do so.
