I give this text an A +. so far. Has a variety of great questions, problems and examples to help the whole process and logic sink in, talks to me in an easy-to-understand way. I saw some other texts that
don't compare. S. Rocklin

This book illustrates the relationship of the math to clinical practice better than any other text I saw. We don't attend clinical until after the math for medications is completed. The vocabulary definitions also are very helpful.

I am only on the first chapter of this book and have already found MANY mistakes in the answer key for the "rapid practice" problems. I don't like that the pages are all perforated and can be torn out as if it were a workbook, not a text book. For this reason, among others, it was really overpriced. Also, very displeased with the online access tools. I took the time out of my studies to register and come to find out I don't get access to anything helpful. I believe that the online access registration was just a ploy to get my address and other personal information. Not happy with this book at all so far.

Injury Prevention: Barrios takes the reader through details of injuries and preventions for most runners. The author offers cross-training to help prevent injuries and help speed up the healing process.
Recommended for all runners at all fitness levels to help understand the causes of injuries and the training protocol to prevent them from occuring again and again.

I was expecting more in-depth information on running injuries, but this booked contained less information than a lot of other general running books.

For example this morning I referenced the book on hamstring injuries, and the only information they had on hamstrings was on stretching.

Very disappointed in the content.

As a Director of Loss Control for a large insurance company, I am always looking for information on the prevention of accidents This book was first recommended to me by our corporate legal counsel who has used it in preparing for cases involving a slip and fall accident. Since reading the book, I to have been recommending it to our clients many of which have found it just as enlightening. I found several of the appendices very helpful, especially the one on slip testers. Recently our company was seeking to purchase slip testers for each of our regional offices but was uncertain as to which tester was the best. We eventually made our decision based on the detailed descriptions found in the book. This book is a must read for anyone seeking to reduce slip and fall accidents.

This book has proven to be one of the best books on safety I have ever read. The format is easy to follow and is a great reference guide. Because of the growing problem of slip and fall accidents throughout Eurpoe as well as newly enacted standards for walkway safety, Slip and Fall Prevention Made Easy really did make it easy to address our worker slip-and-fall matters. In fact, since employing several of the concepts contained within the book, we have already seen a significant reduction in accidents.

Slip and Fall Prevention: Tips and Practical Strategies
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2000-12-23
This book presents an excellent introduction to both the study and prevention of slip and fall accidents. The author presents an informative, yet, easily read account of the science of slips and falls. The discussion of the causes of slips and falls is accompanied by an understanding of practical ways to prevent them.

This would be a very useful book for both laymen and serious students of accident prevention. With slips and falls representing the greatest cause of accidental death and injury for the elderly, any one who works with this population should purchase this book. Individuals in the hospitality, food service, health care, and manufacturing industries would find this very useful. Any safety professional should add this to his/her references.

In addition to the book, the National Floor Safety Institute, a non-profit organization, is also available to provide more information on the subject.

Definitely worthwhile reading!

Something Everyone Should Know

This book has a lot of useful information, and is good to have even when you're not being stalked. It helps you see how the stalker thinks, and how to protect yourself, your family, co-workers and friends. There is another book that would work well with this, that keeps things a little more updated - Stalking the Stalker. In general, most women don't realize that not being clear and concise with their wishes because of discomfort levels can lead to even more problems later on. This book should also be read with The Gift of Fear by Gavin deBecker. I highly recommend it in the process of keeping yourself and your loved ones safe!

I think that one should make their decisions according to their situation, but being aware of possible repercussions from things like restraining orders, etc. is an important part of a decision.

This book is a great tool

I would highly recommend this book as it certainly outlines the dynamics involved in stalking cases and how the individual victim can be proactive in their own protection. I have read many reviews in regards to books on stalkers, and many so called professionals continue to minimise the value of this information. As a Professional counsellor who deals with many cases of stalking and interpersonal violence I have read these same books and find them useful, as do many of my clients in assisting in the process of healing after the event and protection before it occurs. Any book on stalking and protection of violence that comes with Gavin Debeckers seal of approval is certainly a must read for me and this is no exception.

Anyone who's been the victim of unwanted attention can relate to the stories in this book - some are truly horrendous, but knowledge IS power, and I definitely felt more empowered after reading this book! The bad news is that there frequently are no easy answers - the GOOD news is that you are not alone and the answers, though not easy, DO EXIST! Although I prefer Gavin deBecker's book THE GIFT OF FEAR, this book is a welcome addition to increasing one's information resources and sense of protection.

This might scare you more than help you.

This book is very well researched, but it largely consists of horrific true stories of stalkings. I don't know how helpful this will be if you are being stalked.
A lot of the stories chosen are told in a sensational way and doesn't give much hope to victims.
This book was published in 1994 so it's somewhat outdated.
It is an interesting source book for anyone who wants to write about stalkers but I imagine a victim could find a better book about how to protect themselves.
The subtitle "Everything you need to know to kepp yourself safe "is surely nonsense. Mostly the book tells you repeatedly not to get a restraining order because you'll anger your stalker. Perhaps this is true.
If you are a stalker yourself suffering with obsession I strongly suggest you take an antidepressant such as Celexa to relive your suffering and cure you of obsessionality. It really works.

This is a tiny book which fits anywhere! I keep one in our family's first aid travel kit. Although it is one book I wouldn't want to read, being prepared and organized is a plus. I basically liked the portable size, the contents is your standard non-professional first-aid procedures.

I bought this looking for a quick reference guide. 128 pages of microscopic text is *not* conducive to finding info in an emergency. If you want a quick reference guide, buy the FastAct Pocket First Aid Guide. This tries to be in-depth but can only do so much even in type this tiny; if you want an in-depth guide, buy the The American Red Cross First Aid and Safety Handbook. Whatever you want, this isn't it.

This is one of the books Michael Hyatt recommends be in your Y2K library. It is the standard reference for dealing with injury and illness until the patient can get to a doctor.

The odds are that every day, people will be injured and you will want to be able to keep them alive and from additional injury. The Red Cross has been a major player in this area throughout the 20th century, and this book is a valuable tool for every household today AND in 2000. The more likely Y2K scenarios will still have medical help available, perhaps just harder to access. Even in the unlikely case where medical care is unavailable, the steps in this book will still be the appropriate first steps for treatment. You may want to find a book on 'wilderness medicine' to cover followup treatment if no doctor is available.

The book has much of what you expect in a first aid book. The one problem is that the book hasn't been updated in a long time. One of the treatments recommended was outdated and wrong.

One of the best handbooks for ergonomic guidelines and anthropometric data. A thoughtful and well researched volume that I have used repeatedly in my industrial design career. Pheasant has created a compendium of data that designers can trust. The anthropometric data compiled for different populations is both relevant to today's multinational product markets and responsible in that aggregation of individual studies into a world-wide population anthropometry database is inherently inaccurate.

Excellent.

If you are a professional Product Designer, an Engineer or an Architect this book will be a very good source of Anthropometric data. It is recommended by leading ergonomics authors and widely used in Universities and research institutes. The problem with Anthropometric data is not finding it but how to use it, this books bridges the gap that exists between theory and practice. It is an excellent book.

This book is quiet information in regards to being specific about the parts of the body that they are refering to, for human factors sake. However, it completely excludes human scale and the dimensions ranging from infant to the adult male. There are no illustrations at all for easy reference and if you don't mind converting, everything is metric(it was published in Britian).

Good Place to Start
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2002-02-19
While lacking in detail, I have found this book a good place to start when it comes to safety equipment and strategies for handling other problems with volatile organic chemicals. In this industry specialization is rare. Engineers need a place to start so that they can get the language right before proceeding to the internet and vendors. The worked-out problems are good but you will find you need to go to the source for details. As I said, a good place to start.

This book has saved my bacon in disputes with customers. It is highly technical, but is intended for technicians and engineers. If you are not ready to understand the concepts, this is not for you. However, if you are a technical/professional type, by all means get this book. You will not regret it.
