Here is my updated version of my past reviewer as a 12-year-old reader:

I urge you to pick up a copy of this book! As well as four Lizzie quizzes about the TV show, it also has lots of quizzes about guys, school, clothes and friends.
Like
Who are you most like?
What's your crush really like?
Is he crushin' on you?
and much more! With this cool book you can find out loads more about yourself and it's perfect for sleepovers so you can find out more about your friends too and what they know about Lizzie McGuire. But watch out, the last Lizzie quiz (Ultimate Quiz) is REALLY hard! (I think the Lizzie quizzes are about the first and second season. I'm not sure, we have only had two seasons of LMcG over here and I managed to get the questions right.
UPDATE: The only thing wrong with this is that it doesn't go on for long enough! I mean, the quizzes are great, time after time, but I think there should be a 'sequel' or Lizzie McGuire MOVIE quiz book!

EVEN GREAT FOR NON-LIZZIE FANS (HOW CAN YOU BE ONE OF THEM?). THIS BOOK HAS SOME EXCEELENT QUIZZES, ESPECIALLY PERSONALITY QUIZZES. GREAT FOR ALL GIRLS, ESPECIALLY LIZZIE FANS AGED 8-14.

Unlike other books in this genre, does not romanticize the Brooklyn Dodgers nor mythologizes Jackie Robinson's contributions to baseball. This is an honest, well-written insider's account of baseball in the fifties and sixties.

I always loved the 3.5 (3.0) Forgotten Realms accessories, but I must say that this book is perhaps the best in the series.

This books gives you a +10 competence bonus to your Ancient History(Faerun) skill, as it offers you in-depth knowledge on almost all of the great empires of the past. You can learn all, about the great elven empires, about the history of the Sword Coast, about the phaerimm manace, etc.

Also, you will find some great feats, prestige classes and spells in the book. Some of them are not really for players, but for the DM (and to the NPCs). Players will also find it interesting, if for nothing else, then to add some flavour to the game.

I found it also great that young DMs get some help in a separate chapter to create adventures based on the "ancient theme". Of course, even old DMs, like myself can learn a lot from it.

Relevance is the key

I greatly looked forward to this book and was not disappointed. The Forgotten Realms is extremely rich in history that has been developed over the long years of its publication and this is truly a comprehensive source of that. The authors have touched on just about every area I can think of and they have done it well.

The book is divided into several sections, each dealing with a different geographic or cultural area. For instance, one section deals with the crown wars (wars between elves almost exclusively) and the elven nations involved (which covers a large area of Faerun) while another area covers the North and includes detail on several elven realms that had little part in the crown wars. They have timelines for each section of the book.

To be clear though, these histories are given not as a tool to play during those times, but as reference points to incorporate the locales of these ancient empires into the current timeline and an existing campaign. They bring the histories up to the current timeline and give you a good idea of what is going on in the ruins of these empires and the doings of the decedents of these empires.

On top of all of this rich history and information is a great deal of good crunchiness. There are several prestige classes, all of which seem well balanced and a great section on new spells and magic items. They even have specifics on mythal creation which is just plain cool to me. Going back to the integration of the past to the present, there is a section about Hellgate Keep and there they specify magic items of goodly races know to have been lost by fallen heroes there (items from the PGtF and this book).

All in all, a great tool for ANY dungeon master running ANY Realms Campaign for its information on ruins (dungeon - hint, hint) and its balance of historical information and crunchy bits. By far one of the most useful Realms products for any edition.

Excellent Resource

Very well detailed and has a great amount of information that can be used in adventures. I would give it 4.5 if I could because of the usual lack of REAL MAPS that Wizards of the Coast seems to neglect. Great book though and a must have for DM's and Players in the forgotten realms.

Absolutely Splendid!!!

I found this title the best supplement ever written. That says a lot, since this series has been around since 1987. At last, in one volume, the history of this magical world is laid bare. I have speculated and wondered in the past why the world is like it is. This volume has given up most of those secret! I stand in awe of most of them. This is the flower of Realms lore. Most are not intended for most gamers. I read the novels and continue my illustrations outside this "gamers" world.

I can only say that the Forgotten Realms have come alive at last with a rich and frightening history in its past. Long live Netheril!

I enjoyed this book very much and read it in about 2.5 hours. Written by a programmer-mathematician, I learned how to improve the odds of winning by using a well-tested checklist which helps you reduce & eliminate silly mistakes and redundancies when creating your number sets. I'm using this book as a foundation because I also realize that intuition and developing your own gaming style is also a part of winning, as well as other variables.

And one of the biggest challenges is keeping organized. Simplicity works best. I generally create my draws, check them, fill out a lottery number form, check it, then submit it.

My gaming style, to date, includes numerous ways of generating draws and I've won small pots from working a mathematical approach, using Quick Picks, and following my hunches which led me to picking 4 out 6 numbers once. Besides winning money, playing the lottery is fun if you want to improve your math skills. I don't play more than $2-$4 a week (sometimes less, or on occasions, a bit more). Sometimes I get pools started.

Sick of the hype of lottery systems for sale but still want something that works? Do you want a system that is based on scientific fact but is also easy to use and understand? Then this is the book for you. I love this book! I spoke to the author on the phone and he exudes honesty and sincerety. Also his software is so easy to use. It does all the figuring of his scientific system that is based on statistics. Though the book is a must! So you can understand the system. And you can choose your numbers from the easy instructions in the book. You dont have to have the software. You owe it to yourself to buy this book, if you buy lottery tickets.

AT LAST A WORTHWHILE LOTTERY BOOK

Well done Harry Schneider. Your lottery book and software are very impressive. Simple design and layout with effective easily understood results. Saw your comments on the opening screen of the software and closing comments in the book. It's if I had written them myself - brilliant! You have put in a lot of work to produce your book and software and it will certainly meet all my own needs. On the one hand I am depressed that I had not written this book and software myself but on the other hand I don't have to go through all the work and headaches that you have gone through developing it. The pro's are what all gamers want:- Handy sized book - not too onerous; Small file to download; simple design; no gimmicks; No reading through pile of other peoples' winning anecdotes - gives me the impression that I'll be telling my own winning story! Does the job exactly as designed very effectively; very fast; extremely powerful filters; a pleasure to read and use. As I said before - WELL DONE HARRY!

This book is packed with so much information, it could easily have been a series of books. The author speaks to the reader in a coversational style,as if you are right there with him at the tables.

Never has there been a more accurate book published on precision shooting. The author takes you inside the Only way to consistently beat the craps tables. Everything you need to know is right in this book, so take my advise and start with this one if you want to win consistently.

If you read this book, and follow it exactly, you will be successful.

Hello Reader,

I am new to Craps play. You must realise that this review is written by someone who has only started playing Craps a month or two ago and it is written in Dec. 2007.

I would tell you that the Mad Professor has a good book here, but, it is not a book I would use to perfect my throw. There is plenty of knowledge in it. It is a good book. However, a person like me needs more concentrated information on the subject of making the dice level to the table.
When I bought this book I also bought Frank Scoblete's Golden Touch Dice Control Revolution. The two, together, were the best case scenario for a starter such as me. Frank has the teacher's perspective and Gino Gambino has the endurance perspective. It was, I think, a good combination at this time.

Personally, I would not call my book a bible. I think the Mad Professor made a mistake there. I am a Catholic and calling your book a bible needs to be backed up like the Pope backs up his liturgy - this book does not do enough to accomplish that. There were no Adam and Eve here, I need a book that addresses the fundamentals. And as far as I am concerned, the fundamentals are the physics of a rigid body. I am hoping the sharpshooter has the physics for a great new book.

In short, this book is a good read. I would give it the compliment that it conveys a great deal about the sport of craps shooting for profit. It seems no book can do it all, and that is not a surprise. This book is one I want in my library. The author is fluid and determined, he has the spirit of a winner at the craps table, and that is inspiring.

I guess I have said nothing with so much one one side and as much on the other. I think the author has been shooting craps so long he missed the basic instructional technique to bring a neophyte into the best case scenerio, but, still, it is a good book. I gave it a 4 of 5 stars as the result of I could not shoot the dice as well as the author expects me to without some mentoring from a teacher who writes to the novice.

The one Craps book you must have

Unbelievable! This is probably the best book ever written on Craps! I have read 6 books on Craps and this one is head and shoulders above them all. For the beginner or the seasoned pro this book will help you at the Craps Tables. This book will assist you into making Craps a game of skill - not a game of chance. If you purchase just one book on Craps - this is the book!

Back in the nineties a handful of craps players came together in gaming chat rooms with a novel concept - that it was possible to influence the outcome of the dice roll in casino craps and gain an edge over the game. The Mad Professor - aka Tino Gambino - was right there in the heart of it all.

Okay, before you head for the White Pages I'll just tell you that Tino Gambino is the pen name of one of the top dice controllers in the world. You aren't going to find our friend the Mad Professor in the phone book. But what you'll find in Mad Professor's book is just about everything you'll ever need to know about dice control and the game of casino craps. Among the subjects that caught my eye:

The Pincer Grip and Its Variations; Two-Finger (Thumb and Middle Finger) Pincer, Two-Finger (Thumb and Ring Finger) Pincer. Four-Finger "Crab" Pincer. and the Five-Finger "Full-Balance" Pincer.

You learn how to debug the Pincer Grip and eliminate double pitch bias. Then you'll move on to the Low, Slow and Easy Toss.

Learn the dynamics of throwing speed, release and backspin, sweet spots and critical landings.

There are sections on Palm-Up Tossing and Forward Spin, why it works so well and how to do it.

You'll even find some timely tips suggested by the some of the other players who haunted those chat rooms in the nineties. You'll hear from the likes of Irishsetter, Shooter57, DiceDoc, Jeffry47 and (ta-da) yours truly - Heavy.

And you'll get the inside scoop on how to tailor your bets to your skill levels, how to adapt to live casino play and adjust to different table types, and how to create shooting opportunities.

Last of all, you'll get the classic "Tough Way to Make and Easy Living."

Mad Professor's on-line articles and essays have drawn millions of hits through the years. The Crapshooting Bible brings you the Best of Mad Professor's essays plus a ton of brand new material you won't want to miss. It is jam-packed with information you can use to make more money at the tables. I highly recommend it.

Excerpt: It only took a minute for Janet Bultaco to regain her equilibrium and to comprehend the situation. Simon was not downstairs. Clarence was Simon. How is it possible? Clarence has worked here for decades. No time for that now. Keep your wits! I'm the target, inning nine, the Queen B. Janet Bultaco knew she was fighting for her life.

She saw agent Tom's body with its cut throat gushing blood on the floor. No help there.

Bultaco was calm, focused, as she always was. Across the room, Clarence slowly put down the coffee cup. He put his toothbrush back into his pocket while removing a pair of latex gloves. Slowly, deliberately, practiced like a surgeon, he put on the gloves.

Genre: Mystery, Suspense; could take place at any time

Reviewer Notes: Violence, language and explicit sex scenes, drug use, brutality abound however, it goes with the territory of the book, and does not cross the line to being overdone or gratuitous. It has to be there in the ways it is for the story to flow, and it is necessary to bring realism to the characters and the formation of what takes place inside the story.

Reviewer: Claudia Turner VanLydegraf, MyShelf.com

Age Group~~ Not recommended for YA, Children-Teen reading, to much graphic sex, language, violence, from this reviewers perspective.

Holiday? Could be a vacation read, if you are not looking for a very light fluffy mystery. This one takes thought and introspection into the human condition and that takes the reader into another realm, away from the lightness of it.

This is the first book I have had the pleasure of reviewing, and was a good way to start. The book is an inside upfront look at the mind of a Serial Killer. It takes you on a ride with those that are trying to stop him, one that is trying to be a writer and publish a book about him, and the Special FBI Serial Killer Units that get involved with and torn to shreds by this man. He is ruthless and highly intelligent and shows all of the most base characteristics which but for his obvious intelligence, would turn him totally, brutally savage. His truth is not in the obvious, rather in the revenge from a horrible start.

This book is gritty, believable and a fascinating look at the behind the scenes of the FBI that most will never get the chance to see. To say I enjoyed the book, would not be right. But that is not because of the writing, which is masterful, or the storytelling, which is genuine and will leave you wanting to know more. By the way this author goes into the details of his story and goes into the mind of this killer, by that very depth, you cannot really enjoy this book. It gives so much insight and painful truths, that it is not a really comfortable read, but one that everyone who wants to understand men like Dahmer and others of that ilk, should read. Forget being comfortable with the outcome, it leaves you turning and looking beside you to see who is sitting next to you on the bus, or is beside you in the movie theater, or looking at you a bit to closely at you when you are at the store. It leaves you wondering who that person next to you really is, and what they might be capable of.

The style is there, and well done, it keeps you coming back for more. I would put the book down, because it was a bit to graphic for me at times, and I am not used to that type of story, but I would pick it up again, for just the same reasons, and because I had to find out what the final outcome was. Killers kill because they are driven to it, readers read because they want to finish and find the truth to the reasons.

This is William Tepper's first book, and he started his writing career with a real good start. I feel that he can follow up with another book, one that will be as well written as this. He leaves you wondering about his next work, and where will the Master of the Game fit into it. There is a catch to the ending of The Master of the Game, that leads to future speculation and more horrendous lines for another master story of intrigue.

Thought provoking read, a good book. Could be a Master of the Game for the author.

Simon is a serial killer who thinks it all just a grand game. He chooses his victims carefully. He watches them for months and knows all about his targets before he silently takes them. He is a friend to the ladies and no one would ever suspect him to be a killer. He challenges the FBI, John Hightower, in his "Master Game".

Simon has a reporter, Frank Wycheck, typing it all up for a future book. Simon wants fame. Simon never expects to get caught.

**** In my opinion, the author, William Tepper, captures the character of a serial killer very well, down to Simon's idiosyncrasies. I got chills while reading. I did not fully understand everything that was going on until I reached the middle of the novel, due to a few surprise twists. Good reading. ****

Remember the Kurt Russell thriller movie The Mean Season? Well, Master of the Game follows a close path, and without mincing words let me say it- the book is stunning- really, really S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G.
I have been a fan of psychological thrillers for long- and have devoured the Alex Cross novels of James Patterson and Thomas Harris's Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal.

But I generally view new authors with caution and am highly reluctant to read books by novices in this field. But Master of the Game has proved me wrong- and it is a wonderful, wonderful psychological thriller.

Through `Simon'- a serial killer, more genius and ingenious than Hannibal Lecter, William Tepper presents a novel that is a page-turner, rather a page-burner, in the truest sense of the term in Master of the Game.

FBI Agent John Hightower is towering high (Pardon the cliché, but I couldn't resist it), he has successfully tracked down a serial killer, a person who had created a mass hysteria not only among the town residents but also in the media. Frank Wycheck who was covering the case for the media also is relaxed following the arrest of `Jaws'. But all this changes when `Simon' enters the fray. Not only does he informs the FBI before each murder, not only does he gives clues, but most frustratingly he is always one step ahead. And the killings are done with precision, and the killer is ruthless, intelligent and above all remorseless. Wychek and Hightower join hands, but each has a separate goal in mind, and what follows is psychological suspense at its finest, culminating in a finish that's literally spine chilling.

Move over James Patterson and Thomas Harris...Psychological suspense has a new superstar- William Tepper- the real Master of the Game.

Let me start off this review by saying once I started this book, I could not put it down.
I have read and reviewed countless mysteries, filled with murder, gore and the likes, but never have I read a work quitelike this one, which brought forth the very essence of the killer, the torment that was deep within him, and the hideous actions that were birthed and unleashed upon humanity through his hands. Shocking!

The author takes you into the mind of this serial killer, and despite the hatred and sickening feelings that flood your soul towards him, you are totally memorized at the workings of his mind. You know there is an evil that possess this inhuman man to give him the cunning skill that he uses to outsmart the authorities and capture his victims. You will not believe the way he outwits those that are relentlessly pursuing him. Chilling!
Mr. Tepper introduces you to each of this killer's victims allowing you to know them making the torture and killing of each one personal. Believe me you will feel their terror as this madman carries out his devious plan using them as ploys, while enjoying his demonic passion of torture, sexual perversion and finally murder.
The conclusion is bittersweet and unsettling. Although the killer definitely gets his just reward, the twist at the ending leaves you wondering if this really is the end.
I do not want to give the storyline away, however you are somehow aware that this evil has only been transferred and will live yet another day, to torture, torment and kill. The thought is mind-boggling.
If you are looking for a work that will keep you glued to its pages; a work that will challenge your mind, leaving you thinking, could this happen? Has this happened? If so, this book is for you. Bone chilling, thought provoking, a one of a kind read! Skillfully written in a way that you will never forget, even though you wish you could.

The Maze Game is complex, intricate, and intensely satisfying. Its sci-fi setting is radically different from our world - human immortality has been achieved, and instant teleportation is available to almost everywhere.

To many readers, though, what is intriguing in sci-fi is how it describes what is unchanging in human nature through all time, not the focus on technology. Diana Slattery knows her technology well enough to be entirely credible to a computer scientist like me, but what I remember from the book is that is touching and deeply human, enough to bring tears to my eyes on several occasions.

In a future where resource and time scarcity is not a problem, the main enemy of immortal humanity is boredom and lack of meaning. The only thing sustaining civilization is the Game pitting immortal players against mortal Dancers from four schools representing four aspects of human experience: Bod (the gut and the body), Swash (emotions and romance), Chrome (rationality and logic) and Glide (ineffable mystery and non-duality/higher-level-of-consciousness experience).

I am reminded of Frank Herbert's Dune for several reasons. The first is that The Maze Game dares to construct a completely alternate universe with its own rich set of interactions and balance of power. The second is that it is a rich exploration of human nature. I am certain that, as I grow older and re-read the book, I will discover subtler meanings and appreciate the personalities of its protagonists and antagonists in different ways. Another is the poetic quality of the language - Dune has no characters who do not express themselves beautifully, and neither does the Maze Game. The poetic nature of the book is further reinforced by the ambiguous, inherently polysemic Glide language which it showcases.

If you care for complex science-fiction with rich character development, beautiful and unique love stories, and explorations into human consciousness and the nature of meaning that approach the metaphysical, then by all means, get this book. It is a masterpiece.

This book is not popular enough, it seems. I've had it for over a year, yet only now decided it deserves more propaganda:

The Maze Game, the first book of the Glide trilogy, deposits an interesting view of human evolution in our minds: how mortality became a ritual privilege and comes forward to entertain the immortal Specs, thus housekeeping society's balance.

The prose Diana Reed Slattery manages to keep up throughout the book is very playful and refreshing; it never deteriorates into prolonged filler. I was amused by the dedication to the McKennas, linking the story to both hallucinogens and language. The technological esoterica does not make it read like science-fiction, instead it managed to keep me interested with all it had to offer: originality, interesting characters, language and philosophy. Everything about the book was refreshing and I eagerly await the sequels. Until then, the Glide agenda remains to us one great paradox.

I would recommend it to anyone, really. There's not much that holds it back.

I've struggled for a while, wanting to review this book and trying to see where to begin. That is how astonishing Diana Slattery's vision of this place is, a place where something like AIDS has been cured through the creation of something more horrible, the "disease" of immortality, spread through blood products and bodily fluids. For me, that is the "what if" that makes this novel/interactive experience so tantilizing. It makes me imagine imortality as something where you best be careful or you might "catch" it.

And this curse of immortality creates the phenomena of the Death Dancers and the Maze Game. (allegory coming, duck! Do you think Earth could be an afternoon soap opera for a race of gods or little gray aliens?)

You need to read this book for the hilarious surprise of figuring out who 'Oh-T'bee is. Folks from New York will love the ironic twist.

Oracles and AI, but this is not cyberpunk in the strict sense of the genre. The Maze Game pushes past that and imagines a cosmology, like Ursula LeGuin in the Hain series, a cosmology spun out by a concept. This ties in to some of Diana Slattery's other work looking at alphabets and the cultures that come out of them, considering a culture based on uncertainty and doubt, interpretation, layers of meaning. We learn to think about lilies and this thing called "Glide Mind."

It's like haiku crossed with I Ching crossed with Tarot, and delivered through an omnipresent artificial intelligence agent in glyphs. Diana invented a language of glyphs just so she could craft poems in it and imagine a culture that lives inside those poems.

And as a student of the Tarot, I found my own layers in this book, layers relating indirectly to the 4 types of Death Dancers and the 4 suits in the Tarot, corresponding also to Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. These things become highly differentiated styles of the dance.

And those old, old Immortals, shades hiding their impossibly old eyes, they watch, enviously.

Like the Maze around and through which the story of the Death Dancers revolves and evolves, there are many levels to this creation, and the reader can take the experience as far as he or she wants to go. It can be taken only as far as the first level of compelling science fiction, or it can be taken to the next level of transportation through an amazing exploration of language, creativity and consciousness. The reader can interact with and have a personal experience with the language of the Glides, or, if the reader isn't inclined to interrupt the flow of the story, a simple open mind will allow the novel to speak to the part of all of us that asks the continuing question: What is this experience of consciousness? And that is what has stayed with us most vividly since reading The Maze Game - that we are reminded of each time an event takes place that shakes up the global reality: Diana Reed Slattery has captured the feeling of a haunting possibility that has been posited in human consciousness throughout the ages: Is this reality we are all participating in some kind of game we are playing with ourselves to maintain an illusion?

This book answers the question, "What does it mean to move through a maze of language?" -- specifically, a visual language called Glide. (Like Tolkien, Slattery has invented language and story together.) Glide is "polymorphic, dynamic, inexorably ambiguous, proteanly metaphoric, illogically positive, and profligately generative of...questions." As a science fiction fan I admire the way Slattery tells this tale from its characters' (seemingly) alien viewpoints, and in their own words; it takes longer, but provides a stunning experience for readers willing to skim the glossary and then immerse themselves. _Maze Game_'s "idea-intensiveness" (and civilization-wide scope) also reminded me of Asimov's _Foundation Trilogy_, except that since Slattery stays with the same characters throughout, I grew to care about them more than I did Asimov's. And fans of fantasy will also recognize a story in which things are going from bad to worse: what can be done? and who will have the courage to do it? Finally, this book is about oracles; it is itself oracular; it refers readers to an online version of the language and oracle they can try themselves. As the Glides say, "A book cannot read itself, much less interpret its own story." This book needs you to read it, and interpret, if you dare! I had already 3 decks like that who ragged out and then I tried another deck but I missed the beautiful pictures and the warm feeling they bring - such nice kind loving approach is the only one that a good reader can take to their journey and reflect so wonderful from this unique deck. I first encountered this deck at a local book shop in a sample display. I immedietaly fell in love with it. I went to the counter to buy it and they were out of stock. I then went on a search for this deck, going to all the book sellers and magical shops aroound, they were all out of stock, I was told numerous times that it was not a popular deck so they didnt carry it all the time. I then started calling stores 60 miles away looking for it, finally I found it and couldnt be happier.
This deck is simple, nourishing, wise, gentle, beautiful, peaceful, authentic, and filled with grace. Anyone on the wise woman path or path of gentle wisdom will find this deck valueable.

I enjoy this book, but strongly suggest not buying it unless you have exhausted/outgrown the other Sudoku books. This is the hardest book I have found by far. I didn't work through levels 1 - 3 (probably should have). The next hardest book I have is "Even Higher Sudoku". The latter might be good to try before moving on to this book.

As someone who searches for seriously difficult sudoku, I love this book. The puzzles are all very hard, but still require a variety of solving methods, some of which I find approachable, and others of which are truly painful, at least for me. I agree with another reviewer that it would be nice to have "speaking" solutions, that is, solutions that explain how the puzzle was solved, but solving methods vary so much by player that this is probably only a dream. There are truly no linear solution methods, which is what makes sudoku so attractive.

Compared to the many other books that claim to offer very hard sudoku, this one stands way out as telling it like it is.

I criticised the "Mensa Guide" book for its fragile binding and tiny grids, so I have to award big points for the spiral binding and large grids of this book.

This is the only Sudoku book I've found where I can't do over half of the puzzles without notes. So if you want to tax your brain a bit and know about Gordian Polygons then this is the sudoku book to buy. Makes the "black belt" and "ultimate ninja" books look easy by comparison. Still all logic and no guessing required.

These are some really, really challenging sudoku. It would be nice in the next edition if we could have some descriptions on how to solve using the more complicated techniques. It would also be nice if the answers included reference to which of the more difficult techniques were used to solve them.

Mostly very tough puzzles, that (like book #3) lived up to the books' name. We're very happy to have bought #3 and #4.

Question, does Mr Longo know there are duplicate puzzles in #4?
#69 is duplicated in 75, 82, 95, 99, 119, and 127.
#134 is duplicated in 202.
