Author Debra D. Griffin's story is one of trials and triumphs, lessons and blessings, love and hope!

Her story inspired me as a woman, as a survivor and as a publisher. I knew that this triumphant victor's journey needed to be shared with the world. Debra poignantly, poetically and diligently shows those who need to know that you can get knocked down and stay down or get up and keep on getting up!

As I read through the journal entries, creatively designed with style, I cried, I laughed, I felt warmed all over at times. It was as though I was right there with Debra during every exam, during every sickening chemotherapy session, through bleak days of illness through the joys and triumphs! I found myself applauding this author!

I am grateful to Link for giving Ms. Author Griffin those encouraging smiles, to the jazz musicians who kept a song in her heart and to the many, many friends who rallied around and never, ever let her fall.

By the time I closed the book I felt as empowered, resilient and blessed as Debra D. Griffin.

A highly recommended read.

Your Chance to Hear The Last Panther Speak

A Journey To Wellness is far more than just a story, it is a testament to the awesome strength that one woman has and might very well be the same strength we all possess, providing we can learn how to tap into it. Debra bares her soul in the most amazing way during a situation where most would shun publicity. She chronicles her battle with death and also shares her incredible skills as a photographer to show the people that were at her side when she needed them the most. Few will know how to answer what they would do if they knew today was the last day of their lives but Debra takes on death, the loss of her breast and continues on fighting and also sharing her story so that all people can realize that where there is hope, victory is always possible. I have to admit, tears came to my eyes, when she spoke of the children that bathed her when she wasn't strong enough to bathe herself. But I also know that a woman that can go on after hearing the ominous words CANCER, and still find the strength not only to survive it, but to share her journey, is truly a very special soul. I've had the good fortune of speaking with the author of A Journey To Wellness, and she is as vibrant and intelligent and caring, as you would want any one to be. Perhaps I might one day meet her in person as well. Sometimes people are impressed that I have been to two actual wars... I will admit, I am glad to be alive...

But this woman was diagnosed with cancer... And given a death sentence...
And her response to that was...

I think, I will live...

There's not a warrior born that can't respect that...

Buy "A Journey To Wellness"...

Learning of this woman's strength in the face of the most awesome of adversities that any of us will face...

Will no doubt, help you to tap into, your own...

I also recommend this to all the people in the health community. Debra captures the ones that were with her on her journey vividly and that too is a powerful testament, to those who dedicate their lives to life.

A Courageous Struggle
Ms. Griffin chronicles her defiant and courageous struggle with breast cancer from the very depths of her being.

Her feelings and emotions grab you and unmistakeably creep into your soul. One cannot help but feel her strength and character as it shines through in the pieces, *'My Hair, My Nails'* and *'Remission'*. As if her words were not enough, her pictures draw you even more deeply into the very muck of her battle, as she shares images of the scars and physical reality that this disease has left upon her body.

Her very life is testimony to others who are suffering, and have suffered, through the ravages of this killer... she stands the VICTOR! And I continue to stand with her - in awe and admiration..."

I have read "A Journey to Wellness: A Series of Collective Thoughts" from cover to cover. As Debra's Daughter I have also had the opportunity to experience many of the things my mother has written about in her journal and still I am amazed at the beauty in-which she tells her story.

Mommy I am so proud of you. You Rock!!

When I read "A Journey to Wellness: A Series of Collective Thoughts" I was captured by all of its compelling beauty and after reading the whole composition, I fell in love. The story is so touching that ever time I enter my Grandmother's past hardships, I cry. The story talks about life through its hardest points, and could be applied to life. Her abilty to write is wonderful, and I do enjoy that she put her poetic insite in throughout the book. Debra's journal is amazing and if anyone here has not read it I believe that you should.

To Debra (Gram): I love you and your book is "of da hook", word!

Courtroom drama has its place, but this book tells so much more of the story. Every conservation battle is a tale of people who became concerned about something bad that was about to happen to the land and water and air, in violation of our laws. If they were lucky, they had lawyers from Earthjustice to help take the issue to court. Tom Turner knows how to tell a story, and he delves into the fascinating details of ten such cases. Handsome photographs and drawing show what was at stake.

This book will interest readers who care about saving wild lands and defeating pollution. Its stories are full of ideas that can be used again, wherever the earth is threatened.

This is a coffee-table book you want to take to bed with you! The photos are stunning (as they were in the prequel, Wild by Law) but the stories are so compelling you can't put it down. The book details some of the struggles Earthjustice, the leading non-profit environmental law firm, has had fighting the good fight for civic groups, indigenous folks, and others unlucky enough to be caught in the crossfire when the bad guys try to do their nasty deeds. It reads like a detective novel, but better illustrated!

Justice On Earth: Earthjustice And The People It Has Served by Tom Turner (Earthjustice Senior Editor) is a compelling collection of true stories about the endless battles to protect the earth from the depredations of big and small businesses. Illustrated with numerous full-color photographs, the informed and informative text recounts legal battles of the environmentally oriented Earthjustice legal organization, the centuries of history leading up to these often seminal litigations, as well as the very people and places that devoted public servants struggle to protect. Justice On Earth is a highly recommended addition to any personal, academic, or community library Environmental Issues reference collection or reading list.

Oh, wow! A wonderful follow up to Tommy! An excellent and all encompassing review of British & Commonwealth uniforms worn in the warmer theatres of WW2. And at last someone has shown me that the P44 Equipment really did have an actual rucksack. Other writers, (Davis & Chappel), when describing this item, never show what it looked like, and as I have a P44 large pack that is nothing like what they describe, I doubted the existance of a rucksack. So my thanks to Messrs. Ingram & Brayley for illustrating it in use, and mounted on the P45 manpack carrier. The photos in the book are ecellent, the descriptions are clear and often amusing, and the subject matter extensive. To my mind it is the diffinitive work on British uniforms in the Middle and Far Easts. I only wait, with ill-concealed impatience, for September when the publishers promise the republication of the authors' first work on the uniforms of the British women's services; then my collections of books on British uniforms of WW2 will be complete

As the title suggests this work covers the uniforms worn by the British forces in tropical regions, personal kit and weapons are illustrated but the emphasis is on clothing of all types. Captions are necessariy brief but highly informative, space being devoted to quality photography rather than long text. If you enjoyed WW11 Tommy you will love this work that covers an untouched field.

Another Fine Photo Study of the WW II British Service.

This full color book has a broader scope than his WW II Tommy (c.f.) It covers the khaki drill and jungle green uniforms of the RAF and even the Naval ratings of the Malta Defense Force in white undress shorts.
This book is extremely well photographed in a large format. Because Brayley served 24 years as a military photographer in many parts of the world he was able to pose his models in the actual locations where the items were worn in Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East. As in all his work, all of the items are original World War period issue.
The only peculiar thing to my eyes is that because many items were unused, due to the British manner of attaching the clothing issue labels to the outside of the garments, these lables are visible in the images. In actual service, of course, these would be removed.
The book covers as well as clothing, personal equipment, small arms, and comfort items commonly carried in the field.
This is a fine work and a classic of its genre and deserves a place along with his other works on the library shelf.

These attributes plus an attention to budget-minded trips makes this a much more accessible travel guide for the entire family.

I bought a couple of books on this topic from amazon and this is my favorite. It is categorized by type of activity, not geographical location. If I feel like going to a zoo and what to know what's available, I just turn to Animal Kingdom and see all the zoos in the bay area. With other books I bought, I would have to look through peninsula, south bay, east bay, and such to find the activities I wanted. This book also lists seasonal events, classes to take, and a list of free activities. This book is my new bible for spending time with my daughter.

This book is a fabulous text for introducing the beginning "meterologist" to the weather. My children adore the hands-projects, illustrations, and the cartoons added for comic-relief. As a parent, I loved seeing my three children work together on a project. The excitement created in my home was a joy to watch. As a homeschooling parent, hearing them jump out of bed asking, "Can we do science first?" was delightful.

There are 3 different stories and each story is better than the one before. Highly recommended. I truly could relate to so many of the situations that occurred. It's a must read. It was very informative as far as the celebration of Kwanzaa. I now have a better understanding of Kwanzaa and I learned a lot more about the 7 principles of Kwanzaa.

Bridget Anderson's "Imani" takes city girl Natalie back to her hometown for the holidays after ending a three year relationship with a controlling boyfriend. While helping at her aunt's shop she meets country boy Roderick Taylor who is weary of so-called city life after the woman he hoped to marry chose it over him. Logistics however, can not hinder the budding love between Natalie and Rod as they find themselves faced with a long distance romance. But, the spirit of sharing Kwanzaa with her country relatives helps Natalie make a decision that will affect her and Rod for a lifetime.

Widower, businessman Cedric Hamilton meets teacher Iman Parrish in Carmen Green's "Whisper to Me", Iman teaches more than just the celebration of Kwanzaa to Cedric and his twin daughters. Surrounded by things accumulated with the prestige of his wealth, Cedric learns what is truly important when he shares in the true spirit of the holiday and his heart to the promise of love, happiness, and the family he has always desired.

Margie Walker's "Harvest the Fruits" was my favorite. Free lance photogragher Sterling Washington literally saves journalist Selinae Rogers from uncertain harm. Selinae shares with Sterling the magic of Kwanzaa, and they both share their hearts to the magic of love. Sterling continues to offer his strength and protection as Selinae confronts the demon that has bound her family with 15 years of pain. Together Sterling and Selinae learn to apply the principles of the Kwanzaa spirit for the freedom that promises to heal a family for generations to come.

this book is about some youngsters' dream of life and their disappointment. especially about friendship, the book gives us a harsh reality of what it is to grow up. those friends who experienced tragic death of their common friend, find it almost impossible to be free from the frustration after all. they are not only haunted by the intruding force of authority but also by their own past. the stories of their families are just too forceful.
also, i think the narrative style which is tossed by thoses quotes (he said, she said, ... said, etc.) not to mention, through those letters written by various characters, is fantastic. i can imagine, in original german language, it would be a lot better to be read, with the reportage-like nuance of verb endings of indirect quotation.

Be prepared to be surprised. You probably havent read anything like this before. It is very interestingly written, more like a poetry. But its not a book for everyone, its not an easy reading, where you can send your mind somewhere else. You have to be there completely. All your senses, emotions etc. This is like The Little Prince - but for adults. Herta Muller is telling us a story about living under dictatorship, halfman, halfanimal being, trying to forget about all the hopes and desires we share as humans forming a society. If you reach for the beauty, difference or something simple as love, you are condemned. Not all of us have experienced communism in this way (I am a bit too young), but this is a personal declaration about violation of human rights, being stabbed in the back, betrayed, left alone, dissapointed. Sadly, many of the things, described in this book, are true events. The book fokuses on the group of friends, that have met each other attending university. They soon reach and cross the boundaries of allowed thinking... But dont just give up if you think this is just too sad to read! It offers you a great thinking material you shouldnt avoid! It opens your horizons, sharpens your emotions. Even if you are a rock - do prepare a handkerchief for a tear or two. A book you can give to someone special in your life as a symbol of your friendship.

I've developed the habit of giving children's books at baby showers. I try to give a mix of rhyme, fairy tales and story books. I especially like to find books both parents and children will long treasure. The first time I found this book, I adored it so much it was hard to part with it. The illustrations are almost breath-takingly beautiful. I've given it away twice now but feared I might never be so fortunate as to stumble across this gem again. You cannot imagine my joy to find it here!

I love that cover bears the same illustration as the dust jacket. On the down side, I wish there were a better mix of boys and girls in the artwork. There are some little boys but many more little girls. And there are no boys on the cover.

I have had my own personal copy of a 1893 edition since 1978. I have read and studied this book over and over many times during these past years. I still find it edifying in any facet of my ministry and teaching. It has opened up the world of the times of Christ and the Apostle Paul's world, helping me to better understand the civilization which gave birth to the Church age. It is not an easy book to read, and a dictionary at hand does help clarify the thinking of these writes. Based on the available knowledge and information of their day, their research is impeccable and presented in an understandable format. This is not a book for just anyone, nor someone who is only interested in a cursory look at its presentation. I highly recommend it for a serious student of both The Bible and its History of time and places. When you consult the list of "Contents and Chapters," and the "Appendices," you are immediately led into a small study unto itself. The writers are chronological with subject matter that is apart from the basic book. The uses of notes are excellent for clarification and searching the Scriptures to substantiate the writings. This is a serious translation of the Epistles of St. Paul by two eminent scholars of their day.

A living picture of Paul. Historical, insightful, in depth.

From the first paragraph of their introduction: "The purpose of this work is to give a living picture of St. Paul himself, and of the circumstances by which he was surrounded." Actually, they did far more than that modest sentence indicates. Either Conybeare or Howson (or both of them) personally walked and sailed everywhere that the Apostle traveled! Their account is a great travelogue, an historical tour-de-force, and an insightful Christian analysis and examination of Paul's ministry. Included in the book are the authors' own translations from the Greek of Paul's inspired writings!

Tough, but good

This work was written in the 19th century, so the language can be challenging. This is not casual reading. That being said, I have found it to be one of the best biographies of Paul. So many of the others seem really to be the author's projections of some point of view they hold onto the apostle Paul. The authors at times run off into speculation, but these are clearly marked. I am sure it is dated with respect to the archeology of the middle east and Greece.
