Recipe Collections Books

Bought this while living in Phoenix. It's quick, easy, and has explanations even a gringo can understand and fix. I have had this recipe book for 15 years and am looking for copies for gifts. Just tonight I used it to find a quickie recipe for taco seasoning because I didn't have a store bought packet of seasoning. The family didn't know the difference. Salsa, Fideo, sauces. desserts-all quick and all easy! Wish she'd write another one!!

This book adds a new dimension to the use of the microwave oven. No more is the microwave limited to re-heating, defrosting, or "cooking" those pre-package plasticine food products from your grocer's freezer. I haved used only a subset of the techniques presented and have been completely satisified. Even though the book is targeted toward Mexican food, the concepts only require a little imagination, as well as trial-and-error, to utilize these techniques in other dishes. Because of the abundance of the microwave oven in American households (and the lack of knowledge about what to do with them), I feel this book is an invaluable resource for the serious home cook.

When I was looking at this cookbook- I flipped through and every page I stopped at - there was a recipe I would like to try - so I bought the book and I have tried a lot of the recipes - and LOVE them - they are so easy - and so different. Thanks!

I live in the midwest and have a hard time finding cookbooks that have more than a few recipes that are so good you want to make them a family favorite. This cookbook has so many great recipes, I used nothing other for my Christmas dinner! The ingredients are common, even in a small town you can get everything you need from the local market. The directions are so simple even the kids can help! The presentation is fabulous and the taste even better!

This is a great recipe card collection box! It's so convenient: rather than copy the recipe out of a cookbook so you can take it to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients, you can just take the card with you.

They're the size of index cards with 10 dividers, like:
- Breakfast, Brunch & Lunch
- Meat
- Poultry
- Fish & Shellfish, etc.

On the front of the cards behind each tab is the name and a picture of the recipe, along with information on prep time, bake time, & number of servings. On the back of the cards, the ingredients are on the left and the instructions for making the meal are on the right.

There are also 50 blank recipe cards in the back so you can add your own recipes. And the box looks so nice, you can leave it out in your kitchen. Very handy!

Better Homes and Gardens says this includes 200 of their best recipes, and I would have to agree based on the ones we've tried so far. Two we've particularly liked are:
- Tex-Mex Chicken and Rice Casserole
- Chicken Parmigiana

I would highly recommend this recipe card collection to anyone!

This book is very helpful for an amateur or novice. The recipes are tasty and well layed out. I would recommend this book as a gift for any lover of desserts. 5 stars !!!!

The recipes in this book are wonderful! They are all original creations. Even if you are just beginning to baker, you will find the recipes easy to make and oh so delicious. My favorite recipe is Flourless Mocha Madness Cake. Informative highlights on the origins and types of coffee and tea. Fun little food quotes too. I gave these out as Christmas gifts tucked into gift baskets.

Bonnie Mickelson, the editor, was promoting this little book at I. Magnin's in San Francisco in 1980 and I am so grateful that I happened to be in the store that day. I purchased copies for my mother and myself having a soft spot for Junior League cookbooks. This one is very good. While slight with only 110 recipes, they are well chosen and have been tested. It has been over 25 years since I bought this book and I still turn to it--especially for entertaining for large crowds. The Beef Bourguignon for 24 is easy and very good. Easier than Julia Child's and just as good. Serving it with Hungarian Noodles, as suggested, always gets raves and requests for the recipe. The Barley and Pine Nut Pilaf is easy and wonderful with beef and lamb. The Frozen Mocha Mousse made with ladyfingers, which turns it into a charlotte, is very, very good and serves a large crowd and is impressive to look at. There was a follow-up volume that I suspect is a collection of recipes that just didn't seem good enough to make it the first time around. I use that book too, but not as often. The drawings by Linda Newberry are very charming.

I received my copy of Private Collection today and I've just ordered another copy of this delightful cookbook as a Christmas gift for a dear friend. The recipes are elegant - the Avocado Crab Mornay sang on our tongues tonight. It isn't just the food that sings in this cookbook, the paper begs to be touched, and the illustrations are exquisite.

Outstanding collection of special recipes - a great addition to your favorite company meals repertoire. This book will give the experienced cook lots of new ideas for preparing meals for special occasions. I recently realized that virtually all of the choices I make for entertaining come from this collection.

Not a good bet for inexperienced cooks. The recipes are submissions from professional chefs and assume that you already understand a lot of what it takes to prepare a meal. The instructions are geared entirely toward saavy cooks.

All of the Williams Sonoma Cook books are very nice. For the price, you simply cannot go wrong The recipes are good with beautiful pictures for each one. The books can be displayed on a book holder on the counter of your kitchen. I plan to purchase more of them.

Lots of great recipes in this book. Williams Sonoma always offers great cookbooks. The photography was wonderful (as usual) and the recipes are pretty simple if you enjoy cooking. I would recommend it!

I had the pleasure of taking a cooking class from Cynthia where I purchased this book. I have cooked several of the recipes (including a meal for 20 with every recipe coming from her book) and my guests and family gave the food rave reviews. The recipes are easy and practical and don't require unusual ingredients.

In addition the book is full of suggestions for variations in recipes and multiple uses for dressings and sauces.

The best part of the book is that it really is filled with love. The personal notes, quotations, and revelations from Cynthia and her family have made this a cookbook that I use in the kitchen by day, and then take to my room to read before bed. It is a treasure I will use for years to come.

Cynthia Collins Pedregon has written three wonderful cookbooks: The Peach Tree Tea Room, The Peach Tree Family Cookbook, and With Love, From Cynthia. Each is filled with delicious recipes and notes about the foods which make you want to prepare them, share them and eat them at once. I have purchased several cookbooks to help guide me through mealtime should Y2k be more than just an inconvenience. This is by far the best, AND the cheapest! I have tried several of the recipes, and they are really, really good. Y2k or not, I will be cooking with this cookbook when I need to put a meal together from my home food storage pantry!

I wondered what I was going to cook during y2k and how to cook some of the different things that I was not used to cooking or eating. This book came to my rescue, and I can now enjoy some variety in my meals. We dont have to live on parched corn and tree bark :-) Also included in the book are tips and menu ideas as well as many great recipes. There are even blank pages for you to include your own tips and recipes. This book is a "must have" to go along with your y2k stash!!

A good variety of recipies with different and unusual flavors. Pictures are a bonus.
